That nostalgia, though.

Arguably the best Call of Duty game of all time – at the very least the most influential given that all subsequent entries in the series, and even other shooters, all followed in its footsteps – was 2007’s Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare by Infinity Ward, which is getting remastered this year, and being sold alongside a premium edition of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.

Modern Warfare was a revelation largely because of its multiplayer mode, but also because of its campaign, which was a high octane thrill ride akin to an interactive action movie set in a grounded take on the modern world. That campaign continues to resonate with millions of people today- the same people who will likely find this trailer for Modern Warfare Remastered, which focuses on the campaign, to tug at their nostalgic heartstrings.

You can check it out for yourself below- and you can join me in hoping that they really don’t mess this remaster up. They’ll have a horde of angry fans to deal with if they do.

Los Angeles Times has reported (via IGN) that a third game in the super successful Modern Warfare sub-series of Call of Duty is in development, and that it will be releasing this November. In which case, we can say goodbye to all the Fall releases, including Uncharted 3, Elder Scrolls V, Mass Effect 3, Arkham City and every other game in the time frame. It’s Call of Duty, heavens help us.

According to anonymous sources, LA Times says, Acivision is having Sledgehammer Games and Raven (developers of Singularity) help Infinity Ward with the completion of MW3. Reportedly, Sledgehammer and IW are playing equally important roles developing the single player mode, whereas Raven is working on the multiplayer component.

Due to this, Sledgehammer has had to put its own Call of Duty game’s development on hold. It was also recently rumoured that Raven were working on a Call of Duty project. They were looking for a “lead visual effects artist to drive the development of stunning visual effects for an established console-based, realistic, first-person military shooter.”

I guess that wasn’t a new Call of Duty game after all, maybe they were just hiring for the Multiplayer of Modern Warfare 3.

It was also recently rumoured that Modern Warfare 3 will be a prequel, and that it will focus of the famous character from Modern Warfare 2, Ghost, and how he came a soldier of Task Force 141.

When IGN asked Activision about this report by LA Times, the firm said, “There’s been much speculation recently. We look forward to releasing details for the next Call of Duty in the near future.”

Stay tuned. We will keep you updated as more news comes our way.

Raven, the developers of Singularity, are working on a Call of Duty-related project, according to a job listing found by MCV. The studio is “seeking a lead visual effects artist to drive the development of stunning visual effects for an established console-based, realistic, first-person military shooter.”

Raven is owned by Activision, and they’re working on an “an established console-based, realistic, first-person military shooter.” Do the math. That’s gotta be Call of Duty.

They already worked on Call of Duty some time ago- they developed Black Ops’ first DLC pack, First Strike, which is due for release in February. It was also rumoured that Modern Warfare 3 will be a prequel to 2007’s CoD4: Modern Warfare.

Even Sledgehammer Games are working on a Call of Duty game, that is rumoured to be set in space.

Wow, so we have three Call of Duty games in development? Just which one is releasing this year?
