Rayman could be making a comeback sooner than expected with the 30th Anniversary Edition reportedly launching "very, very soon."

While the future is looking dire for anyone who’s a fan of IPs like Splinter Cell, it seems Ubisoft hasn’t given up on Rayman after its big shuffle. A listing for Rayman 30th Anniversary Edition has recently emerged courtesy of the Australian Classification Board (thanks, Gematsu), registered on January 22nd and rated “G” for very mild violence. It’s developed and published by Atari.

According to Insider-Gaming’s Tom Henderson, Ubisoft is reportedly working on two Rayman titles. The first is codenamed “Iceman” and meant to celebrate the series’ 30th anniversary. It’s allegedly out “very, very soon,” and considering the naming, that describes the recently rated title to a tee. It wouldn’t be the first time we’ve seen such a release – see Beyond Good and Evil – 20th Anniversary Edition.

The second project, “Steambot,” is arguably more intriguing since it’s allegedly a remake of Rayman Legends. Eagle-eyed fans will likely recall the reports that emerged in September 2025 about the project, which is reportedly scheduled for release in late 2026. Development is allegedly going quite well, and depending on its performance, Ubisoft could greenlight Rayman 4, a new mainline entry.

As for the 30th Anniversary Edition, it wouldn’t be surprising to see a re-release of the limbless wonder’s original trilogy – Rayman, Rayman 2: The Great Escape, and Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc. Stay tuned for any further updates in the meantime.

The job listings for a senior game designer and 3D gameplay animator have since been taken down, but are on Internet Archive.

Ubisoft might be working on bringing back the Rayman franchise with a new AAA title. As caught and archived by Reddit users, job listings had popped up on Ubisoft’s website for positions that would work on games under the “Rayman brand”. The job listings were for a 3D gameplay animator and a senior game designer.

The job listings have since been taken down by Ubisoft, indicating that the company might have accidentally posted them earlier than it intended to. However, the listings for both positions can be seen on the Internet Archive. Both listings also indicate that the Rayman game will be developed at Ubisoft Milan.

“Ubisoft Milan is looking for a Senior Game Designer who will work on the Rayman brand,” reads one of the listings. “The ideal candidate has a proven and solid experience as Game Designer in the videogame industry with in-depth understanding of how to define, prototype and implement game systems within the scope of the project and following the Game direction, making sure to capture the gameplay feel, while still being fun and accessible.”

Aside from the fact that both positions are for development on a AAA Rayman game, however, neither of the listings reveal any more details about what kind of game it could be. The fact that one of the listings is for a 3D gameplay animator does indicate that it likely won’t be a 2D sidescroller like Rayman Origins and its sequel Rayman Legends. The title could also potentially be something along the lines of the Mario + Rabbids titles.

Back in October, Ubisoft had indicated that it was exploring a return to the Rayman franchise. According to the company, its studios at Montpellier and Milan would be heading up the project, and that the project was still in its early stages. Rayman franchise creator Michel Ancel was also said to be involved in a consultant role “to ensure consistency with the universe.”

Ubisoft has been largely quiet about the Rayman franchise since the last mainline game in the franchise – Rayman Legends – was released back in 2013. Rumours from back in 2024, however, indicated that a remake of a Rayman might be in the works at Milan. According to these rumours, the title was being worked by a part of the development team behind Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown.

The last major release by Ubisoft Milan was side-scrolling metroidvania game Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. It was released back in January 2024 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch. The game was eventually also released on macOS, as well as Android and iOS later on. For more details, check out our review.

Rumours have indicated that more than 1.3 million copies of the title had been sold as of January 2025. Ubisoft has confirmed that it has “well over” 2 million players. Other rumours have indicated that the team behind the game had pitched a sequel to Ubisoft, which had unfortunately been rejected. According to reports, the reason given for the rejection was so that long-term sales for Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown wouldn’t get cannibalised.

Another week passes with another free game from the Epic Games Store on PC. There was a point when we were getting two games, but alas, great things don’t last forever and we’re back to only one. But one is better than none, or so the math goes, and this week it’s a platformer with some heart.

Rayman Legends is this week’s free game. The game originally released in 2013 an is, so far, the latest game in the Rayman series. It’s got a slick look and is considered one of the best in the series. It unfortunately sold poorly at the time of release, but now it’ll get a second chance at life with this giveaway.

Rayman Legends is free now on the Epic Games Store for PC and will be until December 6th. After that Jotun: Valhalla Edition, an action adventure game based around Norse mythology will be the next free game.

Going out of your way? Be careful - these bonus areas take no prisoners.

When it comes to pain and suffering, some games are seemingly built on delivering. Not every game wants you to experience sadistic design all throughout though. Sometimes, they tuck it away into special levels, areas, maps and chapters that unleash all manner of suffering. Let’s take a look at the 15 toughest bonus levels in video games.

Hollow Knight – Path of Pain

The White Palace is already a pretty haphazard place full of platforming terrors but necessary for getting the best endings. The Path of Pain, added with the Grimm Troupe DLC, is on another level though. There’s your average range of spikes, buzz-saws, thorns and whatnot but this area tests your mastery of bouncing off obstacles with the Nail. Even if you happen to get through it all, there are two Kingsmoulds waiting to be fought.

These games don't know when to stop.

Who says that a game’s value should be measured by how long it is? It’s a competitive industry these days, and developers need to try their best to keep their players engaging with their product for as long as possible. Whether through some lame story padding, overdoing it and introducing some grindy challenge or just losing what made the game so special in an effort to come to some sort of resolution, well if anything, we have 15 examples of games that really needed to know when to stop. We’ll take a tight game like Portal over a bloated mess any day.

Super Mario Galaxy 2

The game where Mario is the kind of person who has a vanity license plate with his own name and face on it, Super Mario Galaxy 2 takes the gravity defying mechanics and tight controls of the original title and allows the ideas to get wonderfully weird with the assumption that players tried the first Galaxy. Players dedicated enough grab all 120 stars in the game were greeted not with a final message, but the delivery of 120 Green Stars scattered across the game. Though the spirit of not just making us play though the game again as Luigi was something, the strange hidden object game they played with us by not giving hints for each star and asking you to individually locate and figure out how to collect them in the old missions got tiring very fast.

Play Cage's last game right before his next one.

Sony continues putting out surprisingly strong games for its PS Plus lineup, with May’s lineup headlined by Rayman Legends, the gorgeous side scrolling platformer by Ubisoft, and the follow-up to the superlative Rayan Origins, and Beyond: Two Souls, David Cage’s final PS3 project.

Beyond: Two Souls launched on the PS3 in 2013, and while it wasn’t as well received as Heavy Rain, I guess it’s still a good way for people who might be interested in the upcoming Detroit: Become Human to see what Cage’s past work was like.

The lineup for PS3 and PS Vita is really like residual dregs- there’s nothing impressive here, and it’s clear Sony is just scraping the bottom of the barrel for those systems before preparing to retire them early next year from PS Plus.

You can check out the full lineup of PS Plus games for PS3, PS4, and PS Vita in May for yourself below.

Beyond: Two Souls (PS4)

Rayman Legends (PS4)

Risen 3: Titan Lords (PS3)

Eat Them (PS3)

King Oddball (PS Vita) (Cross Buy with PS3 and PS4)

Furmins (PS Vita)

Ubisoft expects to continue selling well on the console throughout the holiday season.

Ubisoft has been happy with their game sales on the Nintendo Switch. In fact, Switch sales accounted for 19 % of total game revenue for Ubisoft according to the company’s latest financial report. Recently, during Ubisoft’s quarterly conference call for investors and analysts, the company’s Chief Executive Officer Yves Guillemot revealed that they are “very happy” with the sales on the Nintendo Switch. To put things in perspective, the revenue from Xbox games only amounted to a total of 20% of total game revenue. For a relatively new console like the Switch then, sales are fast increasing.

The main sources of game revenue were games such as Mario+Rabbids: Kingdom Battle and Rayman Legends. Just Dance 17 has also been profitable for Ubisoft. Additionally, the game has sold more copies on the Nintendo Switch than anywhere else. At this point, Ubisoft is confident that their games will continue selling well for the Switch throughout the holiday season and this should see a significant increase in game revenue. They have also stated that they plan to invest in more games for the Switch but we have no details about what will be coming.

Ubisoft is also particularly excited for the release of Just Dance 18 on the console and believes that it will sell really well on this console just like its predecessor did. All in all, it is nice to see more third-party developers investing in bringing over games to the Nintendo Switch.

In case you haven't actually played the game yet.

Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition, the Switch port for Ubisoft and Michel Ancel’s UbiArt powered follow up to their fantastic Rayman reboot Rayman Origins, launches today- and to celebrate this launch, Ubisoft has released a brand new launch trailer for it.

Rayman Legends won rave acclaim and several awards when it originally released for the Wii U, PS3, and Xbox 360; it has since been ported to the PS4, Xbox One, PS Vita, PC, and now, the Nintendo Switch as well. The Switch version includes an exclusive local wireless mode, as well as four player co-op.

If you somehow have not tried Rayman Legends already (which must be hard, it’s available on your toaster at this point), there is a demo for the game that is available on the Nintendo eShop that you can download and give a whirl before you decide to commit to it. If you already know you want it, the game is out now on the Switch.
