In its first month, Nintendo's turn based strategy RPG does decent business.

No, it’s not the multi-million numbers that Tomb Raider or Dead Space 3 or even friggin’ Aliens: Colonial Marines has been doing. But the Nintendo 3DS title Fire Emblem: Awakening has managed to more than 180,000 units in February, which was also its first month on store shelves according to a statement from Nintendo of America to Siliconera.

The sales were broken up like this: 117,000 retail copies sold with +63,000 digital copies sold. Interestingly, Nintendo provided a comparison as to how well the game did against another Fire Emblem game, namely the DS’s Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon. That sold roughly 250,000 units in the US till date. Fire Emblem: Awakening has managed roughly 70 percent of that amount in less than a month.

Whether it’s a cause for celebration over at Intelligent Systems and Red Entertainment remains to be seen, but at least this means (hopefully) more Fire Emblem games in the coming years.

Unlock legendary characters and rack up tons of EXP with these upcoming expansions.

The critically acclaimed turn based strategy RPG Fire Emblem: Awakening, developed by Intelligent Systems and Red Entertainment for the Nintendo 3DS, has received one hell of a DLC trailer. It highlights the different benefits that each DLC map pack will be bringing to the game.

We start with the Champions of Lore Pack that allows you to unlock several legendary Fire Emblem characters after successfully completing each map. The Golden Pack allows you to earn several EXP and gold that can be used to buy items in the main game. The Lost Bloodlines Pack is unique for being one of the few to bestow a class-changing item, the “Dread Scroll”.

These are only a sample of the wealth of content planned in the coming months. Each pack will contain 3 maps and retail for $6 each, with individual maps retailing for $3. It’s a pretty good deal, insofar as presenting extended gameplay and benefits.

You get a bundle pack! And you get a bundle pack!

Everybody gets a bundle pack, it seems as Nintendo announced that Intelligent Systems and Red Entertainment-developed Fire Emblem: Awakening will be receiving bundle packs specifically for Europe.

The bundle will include a pre-installed Fire Emblem: Awakening along with a blue Nintendo 3DS XL with custom Fire Emblem art. It will be released on April 19th to coincide with the standalone release of the game for the 3DS.

Fire Emblem: Awakening continues the series’ tradition of turn based RPG combat, wherein you can customize and level up units to fight against enemies. Two distinct modes now exist, Casual and Classic, to toggle permanent character death on or off.

There will also be plenty of opportunities to forge partnerships and even marriages, where you can recruit the couple’s children to aid you in fights.

Of course, the most obvious change are the 3D graphics and the mysterious return of series legend Marth. Considering the rave reviews the game has received, the bundle will be a great deal for fans in Europe.

Upgrade classes or change them entirely. All up to you.

The beauty of Fire Emblem isn’t just the addictive gameplay or wild card of character death or even the awesome story but that deep down, it is still a very robust turn-based strategy RPG, as a new trailer for Fire Emblem: Awakening from Red Entertainment and Intelligent Systems showcases.

Character level-ups that increase their stats are well known, but the interesting part is the changing of classes with Seals. Master Seals upgrade a character’s class, such a Knight which can become a General or Great Knight.

Secondary Seals allow characters to change their classes entirely, and then subsequently upgrade to higher classes.

Fire Emblem: Awakening will be released for Nintendo 3DS on February 4th in North America and later in April for Europe. The game will follow a brand new storyline with a new graphical style but will feature classic series characters like Marth (or some one claiming to be him).

Prepare for a trial by fire.

Intelligent Systems and Red Entertainment have revealed the new TV commercial for the upcoming turn based strategy/role playing game hybrid Fire Emblem: Awakening. It features the usual mix of in-game cutscenes and gameplay.

That is to say, it looks quite awesome and hypes up the game quite nicely. Check it out above and let us know what you think.

Fire Emblem: Awakening, like other games in the series, has you battling enemies in small, RPG like battles while maneuvering your units on different mission maps. You can upgrade units and equip them with special skills, besides the new Casual and Classic modes which let you play the game without permanent death or with it, respectively.

The game is currently scheduled to release on Nintendo 3DS in North America on February 4th, with a European release date in April. It will follow the trials of Chrom, as he seeks to defeat an evil plague and deal with a masked man claiming to be the legendary hero of the series, Marth.

Arguably the most awesome 20 seconds for a fan of the series,

Ever since I played Fire Emblem and The Sacred Stones on Nintendo’s Gameboy Advance, I’ve been hooked to the series. Its tactical mix of turn based strategy and role playing was addictive, and the permanent character death option made every battle a life-or-death encounter. Nintendo of America has released a new teaser trailer for the upcoming Fire Emblem: Awakening for the 3DS. It may be short but it is oh so sweet.

Showcasing a mix of 3D graphics with cel-shaded graphics, the game looks to bring alive the epicness so commonly seen in console editions of the series like Radiant Dawn. Even better, players can now create their own characters and do team-up attacks with other characters against enemies. And special skills. Wonderful, wonderful special skills also make a return.

Fire Emblem: Awakening has been out in Japan since April 2012, and is due to come out on February 4th 2013 in North America and in April 2013 for the 3DS.

Ghostlight have announced a delay for Agarest: Generations of War 2’s arrival to Europe, pushing it back to 10 August.

The European publisher for the game released this refreshingly frank statement:

“I’m sorry to have to report that, due to some issues that we’ve faced in getting the game age rated, the release of Agarest: Generations of War 2 will be delayed.

“I can report that everything has been resolved and the game is approved, but unfortunately the knock on effect has meant that we’ve missed our intended manufacturing date.

“The official street release date is now the 10th August.”

The statement continued with “I would like to take this opportunity to apologise on behalf of the team for this delay.

“We at Ghostlight and the Japanese developers have made every effort to release Agarest: Generations of War 2 on schedule but sometimes we run into unexpected issues that take time to resolve.

“We realise that this news is very disappointing for everyone who has been looking forward to the game and we’d like to thank everyone for their patience and continued support.”

Agarest: Generations of War 2 comes to Europe on 10 August exclusively on Playstation 3.
