Star Wars: Battlefront 2

Before Electronic Arts, live service, and tie-ins with every new film, there was LucasArts’ Star Wars: Battlefront 2. Published in 2005, it featured first, and third-person perspectives with four multiplayer modes and 24 maps. Of course, along with a campaign of 18 missions, there was Galactic Conquest, where players led their fleet through the galaxy and conquered or protected planets.

Upon encountering an enemy on a planet, it would shift to combat, resulting in massive battles. With the addition of Heroes, new modes like Hero Assault, and more content than its predecessor, Star Wars: Battlefront 2 is still a strong benchmark for Star Wars titles.

Ghosts With The Sorrow – Metal Gear Solid 3

Remember that fight with The Sorrow? The depressing trudge through the afterlife? As it turns out, the various ghosts represent the people that Snake has killed up till that point. So obviously, killing many enemies will see them appear. Of course, any experienced Metal Gear Solid player knows this isn’t the first time the game mocks you for your killing.

THQ Nordic is known for re-releasing its older titles for the current generation consoles and it seems that they might be doing the same thing with Red Faction: Guerrilla. It was first noticed by a Redditor that various GameStop stores had listed PS4 and Xbox One versions of Red Faction: Guerrilla. 

Red Faction: Guerrilla had originally released for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC back in 2009. Since then, it has become one of the most beloved games in the series. As of now however, the news about a possible remaster of the game is merely a rumor, so take this information with a grain of salt. The game is also no longer listed at the stores where it was before.

We’ll have to wait and see if THQ Nordic gives any official confirmation regarding Red Faction: Guerrilla. If this remastered version of the game is successful, we may even see a revival of the Red Faction series, so let’s wait and see how this turns out.

Nordic Games, developers of the immensely fun cult hit, Pain Killer Hell and Damnation, and helped publish the other massive underground hit title, Alan Wake, have decided that its time to remove Games for Windows Live from their game Red Faction: Guerilla.

While the game proved to be nothing special and was rather divisive amongst gamers and critics alike, didn’t just get the Games for Windows Live portion of it removed, Nordic Games also saw fit to downgrade the game by default. It normally made use of DirectX 10 by default, but that has been changed to DX9.  “DX10 created a lot of problems and resulted in performance drawbacks.”

This means open public testing for bugs and glitches as well as the full integration of Steamworks which I think we can all agree is in every way possible, better than Games for Windows Live. The PC gaming community shed a collective tear when GFWL was removed from Bioshock 2, lets just hope more games follow suit soon.
