There was once a time when Resident Evil and Silent Hill proudly sat on the survival horror throne side-by-side, and rumours and leaks over the last couple of months have suggested that that time could be coming back very soon.

That Capcom will make a Resident Evil 8 has never been in doubt, and sure enough, the game has been relentlessly leaked and pegged for an early 2021 cross-gen launch. Surprisingly, the long-dormant Silent Hill franchise has also been said to be in line for a revival thanks to an alleged partnership between Konami and Sony- and it’s possible that both these games might be revealed later today.

Over on Twitter, Dusk Golem (or AestheticGamer) – who’s been on the frontlines with leaks for both games – has stated that it’s likely that both survival horror games will be revealed at the imminent PS5 event. He seems much more confident about Resident Evil 8 getting revealed, saying that behind-the-scenes stuff – as well as Capcom’s public actions – indicate that an announcement is imminent.

He also says that as per his sources, the reason RE8 will be at the PS5 event is because it will be one of the first PSVR games on the console, and that just like Resident Evil 7, will have virtual reality exclusivity with Sony once more. It’s worth noting that other recent reports have also suggested the same.

Dusk Golem then goes on to talk about Silent Hill, saying that though he’s less certain of a reveal for it than RE8, he’s more confident of it than he’s ever been. After saying that “there’s a lot more going on behind-the-scenes”, he mentions that many have told him of late that the announcement is happening, and that the game is farther along in development than you’d think. Last week, he mentioned that the game was in a playable state and was possibly in line for a reveal soon.

Of course, none of this is coming from official channels, so take it with a grain of salt for now. The PS5 games showcase will kick off later today at 1 PM Pacific, so stay tuned for any and all updates.

I'm very certain Resident Evil 8 will end up being at tomorrow's event. I'll say both behind the scenes & fairly publicly with Capcom's own actions it looks like now's the time. I also

Though you will still allegedly spend the bulk of your time playing as Ethan.

A great many details on the unannounced Resident Evil 8 have leaked over the past few months, and information on who the primary protagonist will be has also emerged as a result. As per the leaks, players will be stepping into the shoes of Resident Evil 7 protagonist Ethan Winters again- but as per new information, he will be sharing the spotlight with two other characters.

Over on Twitter, prominent Resident Evil leaker Dusk Golem (or Aesthetic Golem) has dropped some new details on the game, and states that Resident Evil 8 will have three playable protagonists. Referring to the previous leak about RE8 originally having been Resident Evil Revelations 3 in early development, Dusk Golem states that the three protagonists are a holdover from that time.

Ethan is still allegedly going to be the primary protagonist, and will be playing about 50 to 60 per cent of the game as him. You’ll spend 30 to 40 per cent of game playing as the second character, and the remaining 10 per cent as the third. Additionally, each character will play a little bit differently.

A recent leak made mention of a woman in her mid 20s named Emily who will be a playable character in the game, and that might very well tie in with this information. As for who the third character might be, that’s anyone’s best guess. Chris Redfield is rumoured to be playing a major role in the story- might we play as him once more?

Of course, all of this is based on the assumption that this is accurate information. As is the case with any unverified leak, though Dusk Golem has been a reliable leaker in the past, take these details with a grain of salt, and wait on official word from Capcom. That might not be too far away- reports suggest that Resident Evil 8 will launch in early 2021 as a cross-gen game, and that an announcement is coming in the next couple of months.

(1/2) I guess I should mention this, though Ethan is the main playable character of RE8, RE8 has three playable characters. I kinda already shared this months ago in a roundabout way; as Revelations 3, RE8 had three playable protagonists. However I've had it confirmed a few times

— AestheticGamer aka Dusk Golem (@AestheticGamer1) June 9, 2020

(2/2) now that the final game of RE8 retains the three playable protagonist aspect. From how I heard it, you play about 50-60% of the game as Ethan, 30-40% as the secondary protagonist, and about 10% of the game as the third one. For those curious.

— AestheticGamer aka Dusk Golem (@AestheticGamer1) June 9, 2020

(all three also play a bit differently, but yeah.)

Could the time be coming soon?

The Resident Evil series has been something of a leaky ship over the last few years. While we won’t know how true details are, a lot about the upcoming Resident Evil 8 has allegedly leaked. Now, a listing for the game has appeared at a German retailer, though who knows what it could mean.

The German retailer in question is GamesOnly. The listing has since been taken down, but the internet never forgets, and you can see the listing as it was posted below. There’s not much here, no release date, only the price and some “non-official artwork.” You can tell this listing was at least somewhat influenced by the leaks, since the artwork features the rumored name of Village with the first four letters stylized as VIII (a similar gimmick as Resident Evil 7). The description is also an almost word for word recreation of a leaker’s vague description of the game.

With that in mind, it’s hard to say if this means anything about the game being announced soon, but we do know that Capcom is planning something on June 10th with the RE Ambassador program. If rumors are true, they are planning to release Resident Evil 8 sometime between January-March of next year, so the time is definitely coming for it to be revealed.

Capcom's unannounced survival horror sequel sees more details get leaked.

Resident Evil 8 has been leaked relentlessly over the last couple of months, to the extent that you’d think it was a Ubisoft game. From its enemies to its narrative premise to where it will take place, many details have emerged of late, and now, courtesy of another new report by Biohazard Cast, even more new details have been possibly leaked via the “latest build” of the game.

Do note that there might be some spoiler-y details in this leak, so if you want to avoid that kind of stuff (even in an unverified rumour), turn back now.

It’s been claimed before that occultism is going to have a pretty major role to play in Resident Evil 8 and its story, and more details have sprang up on that front. Apparently, a new virus has created new monsters and abominations, and there’s a cult that worships these. The game allegedly hints that there might be supernatural elements at play, but later reveals that it’s being caused by the virus, which also causes hallucinations.

Not all enemies will be unfamiliar though. Dogs, wolves, and zombies are in, as well as enemies that resemble Lickers. Some of the zombies will be armoured (which falls in line with previous leaks) and will wield weapons such as sword, clubs, and knives. They will be largely present in later sections of the game- more specifically, once players enter the previously leaked castle location.

Meanwhile, other outside locations like forests and caves have also been mentioned. Many of these locations will be pretty dimly lit, and you’ll have to rely on your flashlight at these times, which seems like a major gameplay mechanic. The flashlight will occasionally run out of batteries, but will recharge over time.

Some new story-specific details have also been mentioned in the report. There’s a new playable character named Emily, a woman in her late 20s. Ethan meets her in the village (the opening area of the game), and she aids him with certain things while also looking for her own father and trying to escape.

Details on the antagonists of the story have also seemingly emerged. Alex Wesker supposedly makes her return, and will be a secondary antagonist. The main antagonist is a mysterious count living in the castle, called Alan R. Apparently, he’s a high ranking member of The Connections.

As is always the case with any leak, take this with a grain of salt. Wait on official word from Capcom until you put your stock in these details. An announcement is allegedly coming soon, so it might not be too long of a wait.

Rumours have also said that Resident Evil 8 will be out in early 2021 as a cross-gen release, and that it will support VR on PS4 and PS5.

Konami’s survival horror franchise, Silent Hills, has been grabbing quite a few headlines over the last couple of months. Rumours have claimed that thanks to a partnership between them and Sony, a revival of the franchise developed by SIE Japan – and led by series creator Keiichiro Toyama – is in the works as a PS5 exclusive. And though Konami themselves have denied the validity of these leaks, the rumours have kept popping up, with the most recent one suggesting that a reveal of the game could be imminent.

Over on Twitter, prolific leaker AestheticGamer (or DuskGolem) has said that the Silent Hill game is probably going to be revealed during the upcoming PS5 games showcase on July 4, before adding that if that does not happen, the latest it does get revealed will be August. He adds that the development team is excited to reveal the game and that it’s in a playable state, so the former is likelier, though given that it’s not a launch title for the PS5, there is a chance that it gets announced at a later date.

In a follow-up tweet, he also talks about fellow survival horror franchise Resident Evil. According to AestheticGamer, the date for when Resident Evil 8 – which has also been strongly rumoured and leaked these past few months – is revealed is much more nebulous right now.

The game was allegedly going to be revealed at E3 2020 before the show was cancelled. As it stands right now, according to AestheticGamer, the latest it’ll be announced is August, similar to Silent Hill, though he suspects that it will get announced some time in June. It’s worth noting that Capcom have a Resident Evil announcement scheduled for June 10, so it might be worth keeping an eye out for that.

Of course, this is all unverified information for now, so take it with a grain of salt- especially anything to do with Silent Hill, given Konami’s recent track record. Either way, with announcements for new games likely heating up over the coming weeks, it won’t be long before we know for sure one way or another just how much truth there is to these reports. Stay tuned for all the updates.

(1/2) I'll lay this out again bluntly:
Silent Hill if the Japan Studios, Toyama directing, etc, stuff is all true will either be revealed on the 4th or in August. It SHOULD be the 4th as the team is excited to reveal it, the game is PS5 exclusive and it's in a playable state.

— AestheticGamer aka Dusk Golem (@AestheticGamer1) May 31, 2020

(2/2) The only reason it might not is it's not a launch game.

Resident Evil 8 I have no idea when the reveal is, but it was supposed to be E3 originally. It's a cross-gen game, similarly I think August is the latest it'll show up, but I suspect it'll show up somewhere this month

Rumours of a Resident Evil 8 have been grabbing headlines on a constant basis these past few weeks, and evidence – circumstantial though it may be – is piling up that Capcom might be preparing to make an announcement in the near future. 2021 will be the 25th anniversary of the Resident Evil franchise, and Capcom are preparing to commemorate that occasion.

A new page on Capcom’s license site recently went up talking about the same, with Capcom saying that they’re looking for license partners to commemorate the occasion, and do more work with the series throughout the year.

“We are looking for licensees, focusing on the 25th anniversary of the Resident Evil series (March 2021) and product development of the latest title Resident Evil 3,” their message on the page reads. “We are looking forward to planning campaigns and goods that take advantage of the world view of Resident Evil.”

Multiple leaks over the last couple of months have stated that Resident Evil 8 will be out in early 2021 as a cross-gen release, and that the game is due for an announcement very soon. Most recently, we heard that a Resident Evil-related announcement is coming on June 10. Meanwhile, other reports earlier in the year have also remarked that 2021 will be a busy year for the franchise, with a live action Netflix series also reportedly in the works.

Meanwhile, the series will see major activity beyond 2021 as well, with multiple leaks and reports stating that a remake of Resident Evil 4 is due out in 2022.

That's a pretty high bar to reach.

There’s been a deluge of Resident Evil 8 leaks and rumours in recent weeks, and fans are more curious than ever to see what direction Capcom take the game in with its next mainline entry. One leaker who’s been prominently teasing out details from the game is AestheticGamer (or Dusk Golem), and recently on Twitter, they dropped another tease.

Talking about Resident Evil 8, Dusk Golem said that they’re excited for its reveal (which is rumoured to be happen in the near future), following that up by saying that the game is primed to be the darkest and most gruesome entry in the series yet. For a series that prides itself on being incredibly dark and gruesome, that is a very high bard indeed.

In another tweet, Dusk Golem teased that Resident Evil 8 is going to feature “some of the most disturbing enemy designs in the entire series,” which, again, is saying a lot for a Resident Evil game. And if recent leaks detailing various new enemies is to be believed, that might just be true.

Resident Evil 8 has not yet been officially unveiled, but leaks have suggested that it’ll be out in early 2021 as a cross-gen game, with support for PSVR also reportedly planned. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more updates.

Our anti-wishlist for Capcom's next survival horror giant.

It’s looking like Capcom are well on track to keep the Resident Evil conveyor belt pumping. Even though they’ve made no announcement about it yet, multiple leaks from various sources in recent weeks have spilled the beans on the fact that we’re about a year away from Resident Evil 8. Of course, we can’t be too sure about anything until we hear something from Capcom themselves, neither about the details that have emerged, nor about the fact that the game even exists- but we can at least talk about the things we hope the game will and won’t do. In this feature, we’ll be talking about the latter. So without further ado, let’s get started.

TOO MUCH ACTION

After having alienated most series fans with action-heavy approach of Resident Evil 5 and 6, in recent years, Capcom have gone back to the basics with a much more horror-centric approach, and we’re hoping they will continue to do so with Resident Evil 8. We’re not completely averse to action of course – in the right doses it can be a great thing – but we really hope the game is more about horror than it is about explosive set pieces.

CHANGING THE TONE TOO MUCH

Resident Evil 7 represented a major change in direction for the series, with its tone being one of many things that were different about it. It was much more grounded, much more subtle, much grittier, and that’s something that Capcom have carried forward into Resident Evil 2 and 3 as well. Hopefully, they will continue to do that with Resident Evil 8, because not only does it lead to more believable storytelling, it also suits the series’ brand of horror perfectly.

AN OVER-THE-TOP STORY LIKE RESIDENT EVIL 6

This is essentially an addendum to the previous point- basically, even if Capcom do want to make RE8 less grounded than something like RE7, they should ensure that they approach it with the right sort of balance. Resident Evil, from the day of its inception, has always embraced its over-the-top nature to at least some degree, so we’re not suggesting that RE8 should not have any of that. For instance, the exaggerated nature of Jack Baker’s invincibility was one of the best things about Resident Evil 7- we’re just hoping that Capcom implements that stuff in moderation. In other words, they need to make sure they don’t go down the Resident Evil 6 route, where we had a guy turning into a dinosaur, a ridiculous highway explosion that looked like it been directed by Michael Bay, and so much more.

A RUINED CHRIS REDFIELD

Chris Redfield has seen his fair share of ups and downs throughout the history of Resident Evil. Games such as the first entry, Resident Evil 5, and even Resident Evil Revelations have portrayed him very well, but then you also have moments that fans are not too fond of, like him punching a boulder, or his sorry drunken state in RE6, or even the way he looked in RE7. Leaks have suggested that Chris will be back in RE8, and that he will be back with a twist- in other words, he might not exactly be the heroic person he is so often portrayed as. And while we’re all for Capcom putting a new spin on this character, we’re hoping they don’t take things too far and turn him into something he was never supposed to be. As one of the oldest and most prominent characters in the series, Chris Redfield deserves to be treated right.

A BORING ETHAN WINTERS (AGAIN)

RE7 introduced Ethan Winters as a major new protagonist, and according to leaks, he’s going to feature in the same capacity in RE8- if that is indeed the case though, Capcom need to make a lot of improvements. Ethan was a pretty boring protagonist in RE7. He didn’t have much of a personality, and the game being first person did not particularly help matters on that front. In RE8, Ethan needs to be a much more likeable and relatable character. Resident Evil has always been known for excellent protagonists, so having two consecutive mainline numbered entries with a boring protagonist would not sit well with series fans.

A RESIDENT EVIL 4 RETREAD

This entry is working on the assumption that several of the leaks about the Resident Evil series in recent weeks are true. The RE8 leaks have brought up various details about the game that make it seem like it’s taking several pages out of Resident Evil 4’s book, from its village setting, to armoured zombies, to a castle environment, to a similar inventory system, and much, much more. That is all exciting news – RE4 is one of the greatest games ever made, so we’re always down for games that take inspiration from it – but other leaks have also suggested very strongly that just a year after RE8, Capcom are going to release a Resident Evil 4 remake. Our hope, then, is that RE8 doesn’t feel like too much of an RE4 retread, because we don’t want to be fatigued by the time the rumoured remake rolls around.

DROPPED VR SUPPORT

Being able to play the entirety of Resident Evil 7 in virtual reality is, to this day, one of the best VR experiences we’ve ever had, and if RE8 is indeed first person like the leaks say it is, it’s going to be a perfect fit for yet another VR experience. Thankfully, the leaks have suggested that the game will indeed being playable entirely in VR once again, so this is us hoping that those leaks are accurate, and Capcom don’t end up axing that feature.

DISAPPOINTING ENEMY VARIETY, LIKE RESIDENT EVIL 7

For all its strengths and its successful reinvention of the series, Resident Evil 7 was not flawless, and incredibly limited enemy variety was on of its biggest issues. The Molded – at least on paper – were an excellent new enemy type, but the game milked that concept dry. You were basically fighting just two or three types of Molded throughout the entire game, which is a shame, because Resident Evil games are usually excellent at pitting players against a large variety of enemies. Hopefully, RE8 will fix that issue. Sure enough, the leaks make it sound like that will be the case, with enemies such as wolves, beast men, armoured zombies, and an invincible witch have been leaked- here’s hoping there’s more stuff that we haven’t yet learned about.

A DISAPPOINTING FINAL BOSS, (ALSO) LIKE RESIDENT EVIL 7

Resident Evil 7 also didn’t end very well- to be specific, it was its final boss fight that was a pretty major disappointment. It didn’t have any interesting mechanics – you basically just had to shoot endlessly at a large enemy – and especially compared to some of the other excellent boss encounters in the game, the final one was a big letdown. Resident Evil 8 will, hopefully, make amends for that, and deliver a final boss fight that can stand toe-to-toe with the best this series has to offer.

A STORY TOO ISOLATED FROM THE LARGER SERIES

Seeing as RE7 was essentially a soft reboot, it made sense that its story was so isolated from the rest of the series. Sure, the game was full of references, callbacks, and easter eggs, but with a new enemy type, a new environment, a new protagonist, and more, RE7 felt like a clean slate. At the time, that was exactly what the series needed, but now it’s time for the series to begin using older narrative elements again, especially since we’ve had two remakes since then to remind us of some of those older narrative elements. In a nutshell, we’re hoping RE8 will be much more integrated with the series’ larger story than RE7 was. The greater involvement of Chris Redfield (if the leaks are to be believed) certainly makes it sound like that will indeed be the case, so let’s keep our fingers crossed.

The unannounced sequel has been grabbing a lot of headlines lately- here are the most interesting rumours about it that have emerged.

It’s been a crazy few days for the Resident Evil franchise, not only because of the launch of the Resident Evil 3 remake – which was an event in and of itself – but also because we’ve seen multiple leaks and rumours about multiple upcoming Resident Evil projects. One of those is Resident Evil 8, which we’ve heard a lot more details of than we have about the alleged Resident Evil 4 remake. While it is always best not too put too much stock in rumours until such time official announcements are made, information on Resident Evil 8 has been coming in from multiple reliable sources- and though there’s a chance that some (or maybe even all) of them turn out to be inaccurate – as is the case with any rumour – there’s also a good chance that many of them are true. In this feature, we’re going to talk about the fifteen most interesting rumours about Resident Evil 8 we’ve come across in recent days that might just be true.

NAME

For a while now, leaks have been suggesting that Capcom are going to go with a “clever” name for Resident Evil 8, and the most recent round of leaks has details just how they’re going to do that. RE8, apparently, is going to have a subtitle, and the game will be called Resident Evil: Village. How’s that clever, though? Well, the rumours state that the first four letters in the subtitle are going to be highlighted as the roman numeral VIII, similar to what Capcom did with the last three letters of Resident Evil 7, highlighting them to make up the roman numeral VII. Given RE8’s alleged setting, that subtitle does make plenty of sense. Which brings us to our next point…

SETTING

Leaks have suggested that Resident Evil 8 is going to be set in a snowy rural mountainous environment in wester Europe. Various villagers will show up as NPCs, and will supposedly be suffering from some sort of a disease that’s making them go mad. Yes, that sounds a lot like Resident Evil 4, and the similarities don’t end there- because supposedly, players will be going from the village into a castle-like environment as well. There are a lot of other similarities that we’ll be talking about in a bit.

FIRST PERSON

One of the biggest questions that gets asked about any new Resident Evil game these days is- what will the perspective be? Both first and third person are equally viable options, while fixed cameras are something that fans often call for (but will probably never get). Resident Evil 8, unlike the remakes, is going to be first person again, as per the leaks, in keeping with what Resident Evil 7 introduced. And apparently, that’s not the only thing that’s coming back…

PROTAGONIST

Ethan Winters, the protagonist of Resident Evil 7, is apparently going to come back in the same capacity in RE8. Unlike his dry, bland personality in RE7, rumours have suggested that in the next game, he’s going to be much more of a character- more witty and sarcastic, apparently, with a very Ash Williams-like bent to him. If you’re worried that none of the old guard will be in the game though, don’t be.

CHRIS REDFIELD RETURNS

Chris Redfield appeared in Resident Evil 7 for a split second right at the end (in addition to being the protagonist of the Not a Hero DLC), but if rumours are to be believed, he’s going to have a much bigger role in RE8. Additionally, it also looks like Capcom are taking criticisms for his visual design to heart, and are redesigning him to bring him closer to his burly, muscular look from previous games.

FLASHBACKS

Chris Redfield, apparently, is going to be a very different person from the man we’ve become used to seeing over the years. The leaks say that he’s not going to be very “heroic”, with one scene in particular showing him breaking into the home of Ethan and Mia Winters (who now have a child) in a flashback, and even taking a shot at one of them. Resident Evil has toyed with the idea of an unhinged Chris in the past, but it might be taking that even further with RE8.

WOLF-TYPE ENEMIES

This is a detail that has been mentioned in almost every single RE8 leak. Apparently, there’s going to be a new enemy type that looks a lot like wolf-like creatures, or beast-men, or something along those lines, who attack players with massive claws. Another enemy that has been described is a gorilla-like beast man equipped with chains and a staff.

WITCH

Resident Evil, in spite of being a horror franchise, hardly every veers into explicitly supernatural territory, but it seems like it’s going to do that with RE8. Another major enemy that has come up more than a few times in all the leaks is a witch that haunts and pursues Ethan, and is apparently the leader of the aforementioned beast-men. The witch is impossible to kill, and allegedly has a chilling laugh, though if you shoot at it, she dissolves into a swarm of bugs (which is sort of reminiscent of RE7’s bug-loving Marguerite Baker).

ARMOURED ZOMBIES

With all this talk of wolves, witches, and beast-men, you might be wondering where the bread and butter of Resident Evil is- but zombies are indeed going to be returning, according to the leaks… just not the way you think. It seems RE8 is going to have zombies clad in armour, who will attack you with weapons such as swords. Again, that’s reminiscent of Resident Evil 4, which saw massive armoured enemies taking swipes at Leon in the castle section (though they weren’t zombies, of course).

HALLUCINATIONS

The occult and other supernatural elements are supposedly going to be major elements in Resident Evil 8, and that is going to be evident in hallucinations appearing as an in-game mechanic as well. Similar to Resident Evil 3.5 (what was originally going to be RE4 but was scrapped in development). These hallucinations will supposedly make it hard for players to figure out what is real and what isn’t, and who to trust. Hallucinations, it seems, can also trigger flashbacks, and the previously mentioned flashback with Chris and the Winters family might be one of them.

INVENTORY

Inventory management is, of course, a crucial part of Resident Evil, and it seems this is another area where RE8 might be taking cues from RE4. The leaks say that though this part of the game in particular hasn’t been finalized, Capcom are considering including an inventory management system similar to what was seen in Resident Evil 4, which was essentially a Tetris-style puzzle box in and of itself.

VR

Being completely playable in VR was perhaps one of the best things about Resident Evil 7 and something that greatly heightened the game’s horror, and it seems that’s going to be the case with RE8 as well. According to rumours, the game will once again feature PSVR support, which makes a ton of sense, not least because this game is supposedly going to be first person once again.

STARTED DEVELOPMENT AS REVELATIONS 3

Alongside the many, many gameplay details that have emerged about RE8 in recent weeks, there have also been a few leaks about its development. When the game started development – and for a long time afterward – it was apparently being developed as Resident Evil Revelations 3. Reception for the game based on internal testing and testing by Resident Evil Ambassadors was unusually strong though, and following that – and because Capcom didn’t want too much of a gap between RE7 and RE8 – Revelations 3 got turned into Resident Evil 8.

EARLY 2021 LAUNCH

Since Resident Evil Revelations 2 in 2015, Capcom have been releasing a new Resident Evil game almost every single year, with 2018 being the only year that didn’t see an RE game getting launched. Even 2016 had Umbrella Corps (though that’s best left forgotten). And Capcom are apparently going to continue with their annual release plan for their series, because according to the leaks, Resident Evil 8 is planned for an early 2021 launch. The leaks have also said that the game is going to be revealed very soon- it was supposedly originally planned for E3 2020 before the show was cancelled. Though of course, given how uncertain everything is these days thanks to the pandemic, there’s no knowing whether Capcom are going to be able to stick to their original reveal and launch timelines.

CROSS-GEN

As you may have guessed, the rumours have pegged Resident Evil 8 as a cross-gen release. If the game does indeed come out in 2021, releasing as a cross-gen title would make a lot of sense, especially from a third party title.

The rumoured sequel is said to be following in the footsteps of its predecessor.

A whole heap of rumours and leaks about multiple upcoming Resident Evil projects have been grabbing headlines in recent weeks, and more new details have now emerged on Resident Evil 8, which, as per leaks, is due out in early 2021 as a cross-gen game, and will be revealed very soon.

In a recent report corroborating the sudden influx of information on the aforementioned Resident Evil 8 and the Resident Evil 4 remake that will reportedly release in 2022, Gematsu dropped an interesting tidbit of information on next year’s sequel, stating that like Resident Evil 7 before it, the game will feature support for PlayStation VR.

According to the leaks, Resident Evil 8 is going to be a first person title, so it would be very well suited to virtual reality support. Meanwhile, the PS5 is confirmed to support PSVR, so both PlayStation consoles will be able to run the alleged Resident Evil 8 in virtual reality.

Of course, this is not officially revealed information, and even though the intensity of leaks about Resident Evil’s future projects has been heating up, it’s best to wait on official word from Capcom before putting too much stock into any of it. Stay tuned though, and we’ll keep you updated on any new info that comes our way.
