The other major addition is Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, the last mainline title in the franchise, which further embraced the turn-based combat introduced in Yakuza: Like a Dragon. Other notable additions include A Little to the Left, art of rally, Expeditions: A MudRunner Game, The Exit 8, and Darkest Dungeon 2 – all playable on PS5 and PS4.

Meanwhile, A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead is exclusive to PS5 players. Though not the best survival horror/stealth title by any means, it could be a worthwhile experience for those who like the movies. Meanwhile, Premium subscribers, only one PlayStation Classic is coming – Ridge Racer, playable on PS5 and PS4.

It features all the usual classic features, including quick save, rewind, up-rendering, and custom filters. And really, what more can you say, other than it’s Ridge Racer? Whether you’re playing through Time Trials or battling it out against the AI in, well, Battle Mode, it’s the classic arcade racing experience that you (hopefully) know and love.

Some time ago, we told you that Bandai Namco’s Producer Kazutoki Kon had asked two questions on Twitter- two polls, asking users which classic entries in the Ace Combat and Ridge Racer franchises they would like to see remade. While this was nothing official (and no official announcement has been made yet still), it was interesting to see that Bandai Namco may actually be considering remakes in their classic, now largely inactive, franchises.

The results to both of these polls were predictable, as fan favorite games took the top spots in both polls. Ace Combat 5 was the game that ranked the highest in the Ace Combat poll, while Ridge Racer Type 4 triumphed over all other contenders in the Ridge Racer poll.

Of course, as mentioned above, no official announcement has been made yet- so this poll may just have been a fun exercise with no tangible reward, for all we know. As of right now, no new Ridge Racer game is announced. Ace Combat 7, meanwhile, is set to launch on PS4.

While Ace Combat at least seems like it will be getting a chance at a full fledged revival when Ace Combat 7 hits later this year (with full PlayStation VR compatibility, no less!), Ridge Racer has, sadly, been dead for a while. The last major release in the franchise was Ridge Racer Unbounded, and while it was excellent, it was also a commercial failure, and we haven’t seen much from the series ever since.

Bandai Namco, however, may be looking at returning to it, and to Ace Combat, soon- it appears as though they are holding Twitter polls asking users which Ace Combat and Ridge Racer games they would like to see remakes of the most. Is it indicative of anything? Not necessarily. It could just be community engagement with no larger meaning, after all. But maybe it is hinting at Bandai Namco exploring options to revive these classic franchises by looking back to their glory days.

Whatever it is, we are unlikely to know any time soon. When we do find out, we’ll let you know, so stay tuned.

This doesn’t leave much by way of a hint as to what the games could be, but a quick search into games released by Namco 20 to 30 years ago reveals two key titles: Ridge Racer from 1993 and Junior Pac-Man from 1983. Of course, the latter is classified as an “unauthorized title”. So that only leaves Ridge Racer…or a bunch of other titles most gamers today wouldn’t recognize. Maybe Xevious, given that both Namco and Bandai have history with it?

There are currently 2 days and 19 hours remaining on the clock. One way or another, we’ll soon find out what Namco Bandai has in store.

Update: The Bandai influence was stronger than we thought, as Siliconera has revealed that the new title from Namco Bandai is for Jump Legend Biography. This compilation will feature games related to various Jump properties released on the Famicom and Super Famicom. Games that are included thus far include Dragon Ball: Mystery of Shenlong, Saint Seiya: The Golden Legend, Saint Seiya: The Golden Legend Final Chapter, Charge! Men’s Private School and Go! Go! Ackman 3.

The games will be straight up ports rather than remakes with the same screen resolution and aspect ratio.

Namco Bandai have announced Ridger Racer Driftopia for PlayStation 3 and PC targeted for release later this year. Ridge Racer Driftopia is the very first game in the series that will be going free-to-play.

The title is being developed by Bugbear Entertainment – the studio which originally worked on Ridge Racer Unbounded which came out in March 2012 for multiple platforms.

Namco hasn’t spilled the beans yet on the game, however, the game promises to “put the series’ irresistible signature drifting right at the heart of the experience”, and will contain “in-game transactions”.

It will be interesting to see whether this game comes out on the PlayStation 4 as traditionally there has always been a new Ridge Racer game to accompany a new PlayStation at launch.

Vita is supposed to have a lot of social features, and multiplayer is one of them. It contains party chat and cross game chat. Namco Bandai have just revealed some interesting multiplayer details about the Playstation Vita.

The game features a Planetary League that puts players in one of four teams. It also features a World Race mode which has three different multiplayer options.

Ghost Battle lets players exchange data with other players through Near, Wi-Fi, and 3G. After you race a downloaded ghost, data is uploaded so players can see the best ghosts around the world. Ghost Battles aren’t live and this is the only multiplayer option that supports 3G connectivity.

The ad-hoc mode supports up to 8 players.

Namco Bandai today announced that Ridge Racer is currently under development for the PlayStation Vita.
