The Gears aren't enough to dethrone football.

The Coalition’s Gears of War 4 debuted worldwide last week on Xbox One and Windows 10, earning itself second place in the UK game charts ending October 15th as per Gfk Chart-Track. FIFA 17 managed to stay in the top spot, scoring its third straight number 1 spot in the past few weeks.

Mafia 3 was pushed down to third place and was followed by WWE 2K17 in fourth place. Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration also debuted in a strong spot at fifth place, which is pretty good considering its status as a PS4 port. Forza Horizon 3 remains strong at sixth place while PlayStation VR Worlds, Skylanders Imaginators, Until Dawn: Rush of Blood and Rocket League rounded out the rest of the charts.

Interestingly, PlayStation VR titles didn’t dominate the charts despite the hardware debuting on October 13th. There’s still time though, especially given Sony’s claims of huge demand. Stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks.

Brings new content, features and PlayStation VR story chapter.

Crystal Dynamics’ PS4 version of Rise of the Tomb Raider is now available. The action adventure title originally released last year for Xbox One before heading to Windows 10 PCs in January 2016.

Scot Amos, studio co-head at Crystal Dynamics, stated that, “Our development team has crafted the ultimate package in Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration. The game and all of the new additions delivers something for every gamer with an epic single-player story, survival co-op action, and a fully immersive virtual reality story chapter.”

It’s not a simple port though – Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration sports new content and new features for players to sink their teeth into. The new, VR-supported story chapter is “Blood Ties” which sees Lara exploring Croft manor to claim her heritage; “Lara’s Nightmare” is a Horde mode with zombies; Endurance mode now supports co-op; and an Extreme Survivor difficulty has also been added.

If that weren’t enough, there will be five different skins for use, including one based on Lara’s appearance in Tomb Raider 3. This isn’t including all the DLC, outfits and weapons already available in the Season Pass.

Xbox One and PC players who own the Season Pass will receive the new content for free, though VR support will remain exclusive to PlayStation VR.

What secrets lurk in Croft Manor?

A new Woman vs. Wild video has been released for Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration en route to its PS4 release and it takes a look at Croft Manor. This setting is important because it’s part of the new Blood Ties DLC where Lara will explore the area and find out whether she’s the rightful owner.

Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration is essentially the PS4 version of the game that will release on October 11th. Along with PlayStation VR support, it will add co-op support for Endurance Mode, the Blood Ties DLC and a zombies-centered DLC called Lara’s Nightmare. Xbox One and PC owners will receive the new content for free if they own the Season Pass. VR support will remain exclusive to the PS4 version.

Will you be playing Rise of the Tomb Raider on PS4? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below and stay tuned for more information on the release in the coming weeks.

After a year of being available only to Xbox One and PC, Crystal Dynamics’ Rise of the Tomb Raider will finally be releasing on the PlayStation 4 in October. This won’t be a simple re-release though – the experience will offer all the previously release DLC, some new outfits, an Extreme Survivor Mode and a new story chapter called Blood Ties.

A new gameplay trailer reveals some more clues about the nature of Blood Ties as Lara explores Croft Manor to discover secrets about her family. It’s the other new mode, Lara’s Nightmare, that has us interested as the wily Tomb Raider faces off against hordes of zombie threats within her household. Yes, it seems like atypical Horde mode of sorts but it’s still zombies.

Rise of the Tomb Raider’s new content will be arriving free for Season Pass holders on the Xbox One and PC in a new update. PS4 players receive the entire package on October 11th. What are your thoughts on the game’s upcoming release? Let us know in the comments below.
