Ubisoft also reveals units shipped for Just Dance 2014 and Rocksmith 2014.

In its regular financial report for the past 3 months, Ubisoft has revealed that Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag managed to ship 10 million units, marking it as a stupendous success. Though it doesn’t indicate number of units sold, it showcases that demand is very strong for the title.

Interestingly, it shipped 2 million units less than Assassin’s Creed 3 within the same period. Considering that Black Flag released for a new console generation as well as working to overcome the poor reputation brought on by its predecessor, it’s still an impressive feat. Meanwhile, Just Dance 2014 shipped 6 million units, and while 2 million less than its predecessor, it’s still a “leading casual brand on consoles.”

Rocksmith 2014 only managed to ship 1 million units however, with Ubisoft reporting “lower-than-expected” sales. As far as PS4 to Xbox One sales, Ubisoft games on the former managed to outsell the latter at 12 and 9 percent of total sales respectively. The PS3 followed suit with 28 percent of sales versus the Xbox One’s 27 percent.

Ringing endorsement.

Ubisoft’s Rocksmith, the music game which actually leads to the player acquiring some meaningful guitaring skills, is getting a new update this year: Rocksmith 2014 Edition, and Ubisoft is going all out to promote the upcoming software.

In this new video, they show us Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal, the lead guitarist for popular band Guns n’ Roses, jamming to some music he plays using Rocksmith- in fact, all music in the video, Ubisoft points out, was Thal playing away in Rocksmith’s Session Mode.

Rocksmith has found a niche of its own where it has been successful in spite of the general crash of the music games market- one of the reasons might be that it does not require you to buy an expensive peripheral, but rather encourages you to plug in your own guitar and try to actually learn how to play the guitar.

Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more coverage on the game.

Rocksmith 2014, which by all reviewed accounts is a smashing success relative to it’s predecessor, has released a brand new DLC which will feature five songs from the band, The Smashing Pumpkins. The new DLC is available now across PS3, Xbox 360, PC, and Mac. The five new tracks are as follows:

“Today”

“Bullet With Butterfly Wings”

“1979”

“Tonight, Tonight”

“Disarm”

The five track pack can be purchased as a bundle for the price of $11.99, or if there’s a specific song off the list you want to play, individual tracks can be purchased for $2.99.

Given the format of Rocksmith 2014, it is safe to assume that this will be the first of many DLC song packs.

Rocksmith 2014 is similar to Guitar Hero, however, it is marketed as a means by which the players can actually teach themselves how to play the guitar independent of the game. If you’re a fan of The Smashing Pumpkins, $11.99 seems to be a fair price to be taught five of their songs.

The full track list for Ubisoft’s upcoming authentic guitar simulator, Rocksmith 2014 Edition, has been revealed. The full playlist has 55 songs, ranging from classic hits to modern, er, hits.

Plus, owners of the first game will be able to import songs from that game into Rocksmith 2014 Edition to expand the already extensive playlist even further (albeit for a small fee). The fee applies because each song from the first game has been reworked for all the new mechanics and features that the 2014 Edition offers (although, Ubisoft reminds us, the DLC from the first game will be compatible free of charge).

The newly revealed songs include Peace of Mind by Boston, Monster Truck by Sweet Mountain River, and System of a Down by Hypnotize.

Rocksmith 2014 Edition will be coming for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC (both PC and Mac), and allows players to plug in any guitar or bass directly into the system and get the real string instrument experience. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more details.

Lead your own band.

Ubisoft’s upcoming Rocksmith 2014, the newest addition to their music, guitar playing video game with a highly authentic twist, is possibly being eagerly anticipated by music enthusiasts worldwide; after showing off some of the more authentic features and modes in the game, Ubisoft have now given us a taste of its Session Mode.

Session Mode allows the player to lead an artificially intelligent band that plays along with them and reacts dynamically to what they are playing, essentially giving them the full band experience right off the bat. It’s a more video gamey concept, but the game retains its penchant for authenticity even now- it’s a more advanced feature, but Rocksmith 2014 Edition has missions to guide the player through it if they are a beginner. Experts can jump right in and play along the entire guitar neck by zooming out. The mode technically (although not officially) supports any electronic instrument with a 1/4″ jack. It also has support for multiplayer.

We will have more for you on this game. Stay tuned.
