What is it they have up their sleeves?

The studio behind such well regarded games as Alien Isolation and Rome: Total War seems to be hard at work on yet another ambitious project in a new genre, if we can infer anything from a series of recent job postings.

Following on from a report during hiring that took place last November for someone to take on core gameplay systems with elements such as weapons, movement and gadgets, this new job outlines a few other aspects of the project. This new hire will be responsible for a variety of the game’s meta systems such as economy, player retention and progress, world building and events, among other things. Yet another job listing casually revealed that the team is working on a tactical FPS. No proof that both jobs are the same project, but it’s likely.

With the team still hiring for such key roles, it’s unlikely that we’ll hear about this at the upcoming E3, but perhaps next year isn’t out of the question. Some of the language in the hiring post suggests a multiplayer focus, and something akin to Destiny. Would you be down for a tactical FPS lifestyle game? Let us know in the comments below.

One of the greatest strategy games of all time is Rome: Total War, the second entry in The Creative Assembly’s grand strategy series, which solidified the franchise’s place in the strategy game pantheon. And now, a new generation of gamers will be able to play the game, since it is being brought over to iPads- with no compromises whatsoever.

The iPad version of Rome: Total War, being developed by Feral Interactive, will have all the hallmarks the franchise is known for, including a full scale historic campaign, massive 3D battles with thousands of units on screen at once, and a new touch interface that accurately recreates the keyboard and mouse control scheme of the desktop versions properly.

“Rome: Total War is still one of our most critically acclaimed Total War titles to date and a firm fan favorite,” said Total War brand director Rob Bartholomew. “We are thrilled to work closely with Feral on the iPad release and excited that players will get to experience Rome: Total War on a whole new platform for the first time.”

Rome: Total War is due out on iPad this Fall, and will work with all iPad Air and iPad Pro models (earlier models will not be supported, and there is no word yet on iPad Mini compatibility). Check out the iPad version’s announcement trailer for yourself below.

The game is unboxed even as the unboxers get chased by trained war dogs. Yikes.

[HTML]

Arguably the biggest release on PC this year, Creative Assembly’s sequel to their seminal grand strategy game classic Rome: Total War, Total War: Rome II is looking like the ultimate culmination of all the real time strategy/turn based strategy/grand strategy trappings of the venerated franchise. Sega and The Creative Assembly have been busy drumming up hype for their upcoming game for the last few months. Now, here’s a video of the unboxing of the Collector’s Edition of the upcoming title. Except this time, the unboxing takes place as the ones doing the unboxing get chased by, er, trained war dogs. Trained war dogs that might maul them to death!

Have to say, that is a really neat spin on the ‘game unboxing’ concept.

Total War: Rome II hits PCs later this year; stay tuned to GamingBolt for further coverage of this game, including our review for the game once it releases.
