No reason has been given, other than “various circumstances”.

RPG Maker MV, the, well, RPG making suite that was going to come to PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC courtesy of NIS America, is no longer going to be coming to Xbox One. NIS America and Japanese publisher Kadokawa Games announced that the Xbox One port, which had already been delayed in Japan, is now not coming at all—not even for the western release, which is scheduled for later this year.

This is actually a shame—RPG Maker MV was going to be the first game by NISA on an Xbox platform, and it was also going to allow cross-platform functionality between user creations on Xbox and Switch. Now it seems neither of those things will come to pass. We haven’t even been given a reason for the delay—just “various circumstances”, which really could mean anything.

That said, the console ports of the game underperformed in Japan even on PS4 and Switch, so maybe the developers felt it wasn’t worth their time to bother with a port for a system where Japanese games sell even worse.

Just a few more months left before you can make your dream RPG on consoles.

RPG Maker MV will finally bring the popular game making engine to consoles when it launches for the PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. So far, we have not had a western release date for the title’s release; now we do. NIS America have announced at PAX West that RPG Maker MV will launch in North America and Europe on February 26, 2019. Someone needs to tell NISA that the February date all games are launching on is February 22- they seem to have missed it by four days.

In Japan, the game is launching this November, as previously announced; given that in the west, major heavy hitters like Fallout and now Battlefield are hitting in that same month, it makes sense that NIS America will want to avoid that release window for what is bound to be a much smaller and more niche release.

RPG Maker MV will let you create and share your creations with other console players. The good news is that the Switch and Xbox One versions of the game will be cross compatible, giving you a greater pool of players to reach.

Of course, while consoles are only now getting a taste of RPG making action, other systems have been in on the fun for a while now. RPG Maker MV has been available on PC and Mac for a while now, with RPG Maker Fes being out on Nintendo 3DS too.

Make your dream RPG, from the comfort of your console.

RPG Maker MV is coming to PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch next year (it has been available on PC ad Mac for a while now), finally bringing the powerful RPG creation engine and suite to consoles. And now, a new trailer for the game (is it a game? Doesn’t seem right to call it one) shows off how game creation using it will work.

RPG Maker MV removes the need for coding and abstraction by letting you directly place objects, characters, and maps on screen, and assigning them properties, including dialog, movement, controls, and more, from there. It has a repertoire of assets for you to use, and lets you make 16-bit style turn based RPGs in the first person and third person point of view. I have been curious about how something like this would translate over to consoles- the new trailer actually shows off some of that.

You can check out the trailer for yourself below. RPG Maker MV launches for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Switch next year.

That means Xbox and Switch owners can create and share their games with one another.

The ongoing consolidation of the Nintendo Switch and Xbox One userbase continues. While cross platform play has typically been the most visible result of Xbox and Nintendo playing nice with each other, here’s something else that might manage to catch the attention of even those who otherwise would claim to not care for cross platform play: RPG Maker MV, which is launching on consoles later this year, and will allow its players to make and share their own RPGs, will be cross compatible on Xbox One and Switch, Famitsu reports (translated via Nintendo Everything).

What this means is, if you are on Xbox, you can share your RPG with other Xbox and Switch players, while also being able to play creations by Switch owners. Similarly, if you are a Switch owner, you can play Xbox owners’ creations, and share yours with them. It’s a fantastic situation, because there’s more potentially great user generated content for you now.

I don’t know if Sony will allow the PS4 version to interact with the Xbox and Nintendo versions (probably not), but I do hope that the PC version, at least, can interact with Xbox and Switch. RPG Maker MV launches on Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch later this year. It is already available on PC.

The RPG development program will be launching in 2019.

NISA has announced that it will be bringing RPG Maker MV – a suite of game creation tools that does exactly what its name implies – over to consoles. RPG Maker MV is already available on PC and Mac, and allows you to make RPGs in the vein of classic 16-bit ones, for PC, Mac, and mobile platforms- it being ported to consoles now means it will finally support those systems too.

RPG Maker MV will be coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. This actually marks one of the rare NISA releases that comes to Xbox One, after their President revealed that they don’t feel that the Xbox platform is conducive to the kinds of games they make earlier this year. In any case, it will be good to be able to try out some basic game creating on consoles as well now, if nothing else.

Further details, such as whether the games that are created will be cross platform compatible, are not known for now. What we do know is that the game will be launching in 2019. Hopefully, more details are shared soon regardless.

Now you, too, can make an RPG from the comfort of your preferred home console.

It looks like budding game makers will soon be able to make some classic 16-bit styled RPGs on their Nintendo Switch and PS4. Amazon Mexico has put up a listing for RPG Maker MV for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 by NISA, continuing a long line of leaks and premature reveals for games leading into this E3.

The description talks about the suite being pretty full featured, and allowing players to upload their games online and share them with others, including those who may not own RPG Maker MV, as well. It is unclear whether the pool of uploaded games will be shared between the PS4 and Nintendo Switch, though judging by Sony’s cross platform policies, it will probably not be.

So, I assume this will be one of NISA’s announcements at E3 this year. Meanwhile, you can try out RPG Maker on PC, as well as a more limited RPG Maker FES on Nintendo 3DS.

Everyone’s favorite amateur game creation tool, RPG Maker, will have its newest version launching on October 23. RPG Maker MV will be coming with support for multiple platforms, better map creation and editing tools, an event system built in, a bank of resources, two different kinds of battle modes, support for multiple inputs, support for high resolutions, and support for plug ins.

All in all, it is very extensive- extensive enough that you should be able to make a full featured 16-bit era RPG without any issues. RPG Maker MV is up to pre-order on Steam or the RPG Maker official website right now- and if you get the game from one of those places, you will get 10% off on the final price, knocking the price of the suite down to $71.99 instead of its standard $79.99.

RPG Maker MV will launch on October 23, for Mac OS X and Windows. Stay tuned for more coverage.
