The home console version of the PS6 is expected to run on AMD's Orion APU, with performance of around 34 and 40 TFLOPS and 160 watt TDP.

In a new report, YouTuber and known AMD leaker Moore’s Law is Dead has estimated that Sony’s next generation console – colloquially referred to as the PS6 – will offer up between 6 and 12 times the ray tracing performance of the PS5. In the video, which you can check out below, he also noted that the chip powering the PS6, AMD’s Orion APU (accelerated processing unit – a single-chip processor combining a CPU and a GPU), is being fabricated by chip maker TSMC on its 3 nm process, and that the APU as a whole will measure in at 280 mm-squred.

This, along with the monolithic chip design where just about all aspects of the APU are in a single chip, is expected to lead the PS6 to have a relatively low power draw of 160 watts. For context, the PS5 Pro has a much higher power draw, coming in between 200 and 240 watts. This level of power efficiency also means that the PS6 will need cheaper cooling and a smaller power supply, bringing the console’s overall price down.

When it comes to raw performance, the AMD Orion APU is expected to provide a notable uplift over its predecessor. While the rasterisation performance is expected to come in at between 2 to 3 times better than the PS5 and PS5 Pro, the PS6 is seemingly going to take a considerable lead when it comes to ray tracing. Moore’s Law is Dead notes that the specs of the APU indicate that the PS6’s performance jump will come in at around the 5 to 10 times what the PS5 and PS5 Pro can offer.

In terms of raw numbers, the PS6 APU will be powered by and 8 Zen 6C cores and 2 Zen 6 low-power cores in the CPU, along with 54 RDNA 5 compute units clocked at between 2.6 and 3 GHz in the GPU. Of the 8 Zen 6C cores, 7 will be fully functional and available to game developers to use, while the eighth core is meant to work as a redundancy option. The low-power cores of the CPU are dedicated to simply handling system tasks, like running the console’s operating system. All of these specs add up to offer a performance of somewhere between 34 and 40 TFLOPS (trillion floating-point operations per second). Once again, for the sake of comparison, the PS5 offers 10.28 TFLOPS, while the PS5 Pro is capable of hitting 16.7 TFLOPS.

When it comes to other specs, the memory of the PS6 will be capable of high-speed transfers thanks to its 160-bit 32 GT/s (gigatransfers per second) GDDR7 bus which is capable of speeds of up to 640 GB/s. While exactly how much RAM the PS6 will have is currently unknown, the memory bus is seemingly capable of supporting up to 40 GB. The console is also expected to feature full backwards compatibility for games made for the PS4 and PS5. The PS3, on the other hand, has seemingly not been mentioned in the cited documents.

Manufacturing for the PS6 is slated to start in mid-2027, with the report indicating that the PS6 will end up hitting store shelves in Fall 2027.

Update: An online German retail store is apparently selling keys for the PC version.

It’s been rumoured for a long while now that Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto 5 would be releasing for PC, but in the past few months, there have been indications that the open world epic could arrive on PS4 and Xbox One as well with updated graphics. Whether it’s been finally confirmed or not, some online retailers like Worten and SuperGamer Czech are preparing for the inevitable.

According to Eurogamer Portugal, Worten is currently taking pre-orders for the PS4 version of the game. SuperGamer Czech has gone a step further on its Xbox One and PC pre-orders and listed the game’s release date as June 13th. None of this has been confirmed by Rockstar Games or Take Two Interactive, so it’s all very much a rumour.

How awesome would GTA 5 be if it really did hit the PS4 and Xbox One, along with PC? We could receive higher resolutions and frame rates, improved draw distances and perhaps a more crowded city. For now, stay tuned for any updates.

Update: Tipster Philip Kaminsky has sent us a listing for Grand Theft Auto 5 on German retail site GK4.me, with Steam keys apparently being sold for the PC version. These have apparently been on sale for the past three weeks or so. With that in mind, one wonders just how legit the recent Worten and SuperGamer Czech listings are.

It’s a little fishy to be sure, especially since if you preorder, then your key “will be sent 1-2 days or on release day.” Again, take this with a grain of salt as it’s not official confirmation from Rockstar Games or Rockstar North. The site itself seems legit but we have to wonder if this provides any much more of an indication that GTA 5 coming to PC or next gen consoles. Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks.

The newest update for the free to play mobile title may have landed EA in hot water.

If you’ve played Plants vs. Zombies 2: It’s About Time, then you’re no doubt part of a small contingent that agrees to the game’s greatness despite the in-app purchases. In fact, despite initial criticisms, PvZ2 offered a refreshingly un-EA like way to handle micro-transactions.

At least, before the latest update. According to a user on Reddit, the newest update allows you buy lawnmowers after they’ve been used. You can buy them within the game using currency which can be obtained by either completing missions or dropping some real cash for the same. Given that the lawnmowers are the last line of defense for missions, they come across as essential. But no biggie because the game is fairly generous with its currency, right?

Apparently not. Now, not only can you retry Pinata events for coins, but if you do there won’t be any lawnmowers. You’ll need to buy them back. Which is again not a big deal since you can do this in the main story missions, right?

Apparently not (again). Now, no matter which mission you select, you won’t have any lawnmowers. You’ll only have the option of buying the same. EA has essentially removed what was a default mechanic for the game and is now charging you for the privilege of using it.

Is it a bug or a really crazy way to scam customers out of their cash? Did PopCap and EA really intend for lawnmowers to be removed by default and requiring their purchase at the start of every mission? It’s definitely worth investigating, especially since EA’s credibility has hit rock bottom following the release of Dungeon Keeper on mobiles. Other users have been experiencing the same but some report vastly different results.

Have you been seeing this issue in the game? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

Microsoft still hasn't commented on the possibility of a cheaper Xbox One.

Despite analyst Michael Pachter finding the idea of a $399 model of the Xbox One, which would include a 1 TB hard disk drive and no optical drive, unlikely it seems more confirmation is coming about from sources that it could very well be real.

A senior publishing source recently confirmed it to VG247 and also confirmed the other leaks that came about this week. This includes Halo 5 being pushed back, Gears of War Xbox One requiring 2.5 years of development time, Halo 2 Anniversary releasing on Xbox One this year and more. Microsoft apparently intimated details about a new Xbox One model that would arrive by year end, though they neglected to mention if it would remove the Blu-ray disc drive.

It will likely retail for less than the current $499 and on its release, the current model is also expected to drop in place, possibly competing with the PS4’s $399 price point.

None of this has been confirmed by Microsoft but they are taking legal action against the informant – after they find him. Take this with a grain of salt, as usual.

A few users have begun seeing white residue leaking from their consoles.

An interesting issue has come up regarding the Xbox One. On the Support Forums, some users are complaining of their console leaking a white liquid, which seems to be the thermal compound which usually remains between the chip and heat-sink. For this to leak out though, the overall assembly would’ve been shoddy.

The user in question, CynicalAnarchy, even posted some images of the same, which show a white residue on the vent. Check them out below.

He stated tat, “I didn’t just take a picture as soon as I saw the residue I waited two weeks then I came here to the forums, to try and find out if I was the only one with the problem, and then today, I posted the pictures and contacted Microsoft, like the person up there suggested. I take relative good care for my Xbox, I’ve only place my controller or the mic on top of the Xbox.

“I haven’t spilled anything on it and the oily stickiness you see in the pictures is me trying to wipe it up earlier in the week, hoping the problem went away. I’ve read a few off the comment on the sites saying I’m a fake or a troll cause they don’t see any Xbox one games on my recent games, Both AC4 and BF4 are Xbox one games, the only ones I have. I can assure you this is not fake, I don’t have an actual camera, but I’ll see what I can do about getting a better picture.”

An N4G user TIER1xWOLFPACK suggested that, “This could be a capacitor on the motherboard they can leak fluid. Thermal paste won’t do that as it’s to thick and is more likely to dry up than run across the motherboard etc.”

Have you experienced this same issue? The Xbox One and PS4 have both been suffering from hardware problems since launch but this is relatively new. What are your thoughts on it and how legitimate is it? Let us know what you think below.

The eight territories which saw delays before may again be suffering from the same.

Microsoft officially unveiled the Xbox One in May earlier this year (to much fanfare, if we recall correctly), and announced at E3 that it would be bringing the console to 21 territories at launch. It later clarified that the Xbox One would be delayed in eight of those countries – Russia, Belgium, Holland, Switzerland, Sweden, Finland, Norway and Denmark – till early 2014.

Now according to a source that spoke to Gamereactor, the Xbox One apparently won’t release in Nordic countries until Q3 2014, making for another eight months or so of a delay. While it doesn’t say much about the other regions, it’s worth noting that this same source provided information on the original delay before it became public. So take it with half a grain of salt or something.

There are several things to take away from this. Microsoft stated before that localization was the main reason for the initial delay. Maybe it’s taking longer than expected? Regardless, the console is now available in the UK so it’s not impossible to import due to lack of region-locking. The PS4 is also already available in all of these regions.

Following the revelation that the PS4’s DualShock 4 has some issues with its analog sticks, especially after an image showing the left stick being worn down, a user on Reddit offered his own take on the issue. In fact, judging by the emails received by the individual, it would seem that he works in retail.

“I won’t mention my previous job (I was a DM there, and more… cough above regional cough) But I still get the corporate emails even though I quit a while back. There have been a few cases of this reported. The only reply that was worthwhile was from refurbishments department and it goes: ‘Tell people to not press so hard, or that is what my Sony rep tells me’, to which was replied ‘That is stupid, it is meant to be beat on’.” An image of the user’s email was also provided, which you can check out here.

“Then the final reply, ‘Just return them, maybe it is a fluke?!, 100+ cases of this happening, 100k controllers delivered, seems as though its not a worry’. They sort of ignored the fact that the PS4 is not out, and most folks are not even touching their controllers yet..

The user also specified that from his experience, there hasn’t been any problem with the controller after having it for 45 days. “But I sort of agree, only for one reason below. I do other game related work. For over 45 days I have used the ps4 controller and X1 controller (for 10 days) exclusively, nothing has ‘gone wrong’ yet. But I must admit I do prefer the X1 controller. Maybe 250 hours on them at this point. Not so much as any trouble.”

Take this as a rumour for now, because honestly, it’s the Internet. Does the DualShock 4 really have build issues or is it just a fluke after all? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

The rumoured project resurfaces.

Several months ago, concept art for a Ubisoft project called Assassin’s Creed: Rising Phoenix was leaked. At the time, we believed it to be another PS Vita title like AC3: Liberation. However, as soon as the hype train began for Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Rising Phoenix more or less fell by the wayside.

However, a screenshot posted by IgoGaming showcases that Rising Phoenix is indeed something at Ubisoft. What it is, is anyone’s guess. But while playing the modern-day segments of Black Flag, which take place at Abstergo, you’ll find the below picture in the level 2 security areas. This is after sequence 6 and is little more than a sticker with the project’s name on it.

Is there more to this though? Is Ubisoft just trying to misdirect fans, Valve-style? Regardless, we’ll have to wait before any new information is revealed (at the very least, it could just be the name of the next game in the series). Check out our review for Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag here in the meantime.

Two online retailers seem to indicate the same.

While Rockstar Games stated plainly that they have no plans to bring Grand Theft Auto 5 to PC, a few sources indicate that it may be heading to PC after. Of course, these are to be taken with a grain of salt but considering that they are retail sites, it seems highly likely.

Gameseek UK has the game pegged as releasing on November 22nd and be pre-ordered for £24.75. Meanwhile, Zavvi has the game’s release listed as December 6th and is offering a pre-order price of £32.98. Interestingly, it’s sold out. Both sites have already confirmed that these are placeholder dates until real confirmation arrives.

Considering that a listing for GTA 5 on PS4 is what prompted the reply that there were no plans for the same, having two retail sites with tentative release dates close to each other is hard to refute. Also, consider that Rockstar Games never really denied a PC release like they outright denied the PS4 version. Could PC gamers indeed be taking trip to Los Santos before 2013 is over? We’ll find out in the coming months.

Does Son of Rome have a sequel in development already? Crytek neither confirms nor denies.

While Ryse: Son of Rome is yet to release, there has been a rumour going around, stating unnamed sources, that Crytek is already looking to develop more games in the franchise such as Ryse: Knights of England. It is apparently set in Medieval England and would include dragons.

What does that have to do with Son of Rome? Search us.

However on being asked about the same, a Crytek representative recently told VG247 that, “we don’t comment on these kind of rumors.”

Again, it’s neither a confirmation nor a denial, which is enough to just keep discussion open. Ryse: Son of Rome will be launching on the Xbox One worldwide on November 22nd, so its success is still relatively untested. As of now, it has an up-hill battle to fight to show that there’s more to its combat than QTEs. There’s still a lot more to the game than what we’ve been shown, so stay tuned for more details.
