The launch of the next movie will "sync up" to the next game from NetherRealm.

During the San Diego Comic Con, Mortal Kombat Legacy web-series producer Lance Sloane talked about how a new movie would be coming out in the franchise. He also indicated that a new game may be in the works.

In conversation with GamerHub.TV (via CVG), Sloane stated that his team had “been in greenlight committee for a while at the studio and we’ve got a great script. And we’ve got a great director with Kevin Tancharoen, who is on board.”

He also talked about how the best time to launch the movie would be whenever the new game comes around, so they “sync up” with it. “It’s just figuring out the business side of it and when we would do it and when we would launch it and how do we sync up with the launch of the game that they’re working on now. It’s not 100 per cent yet, but we’re getting closer every day.”

As of now, no new Mortal Kombat has been officially announced or confirmed by NetherRealm Studios. Perhaps this will be for the next generation of consoles?

Welcome back to the stage of history (again) this autumn.

Namco Bandai has recently announced at its “Future of Fighting Games” panel during the San Diego Comic-Con that it will be releasing an HD remake of Soul Calibur II with features for online play .

Titled Soul Calibur II HD Online, the game will be releasing as a digital download for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 this Autumn. It will also feature Tekken’s Heihachi, who was previously an exclusive character on the PlayStation 2 version of the game.

Before you ask, Link won’t be making an appearance this time around (being an exclusive character for the GameCube version) and as of now, it is unknown if Spawn will appear (Namco Bandai simply offered no comment on whether the Xbox exclusive character would be included).

Given how Soul Calibur II was one of the better games in the series, this is good news indeed. We’ll just have to see if it still holds up after all this time like the first game did.

This is officially the greatest game ever made.

Saints Row IV creative director Steve Jaros recently revealed at a panel for the game at the San Diego Comic Con that, among many ideas, one of the ways they planned to end the game was though a 3-minute Bollywood dance number. However, the idea was nixed because “the stars didn’t line up.” The other matter about the motion-capture coordinator wanting an entire dance troupe for the sequence to get the movements down didn’t help money matters either.

But worry not because the ending is still just as epic. “So we changed the ending into something different, but the spirit of the Bollywood dance number still happens and it’s poetry in motion. It’s so good.” Along with a fire-breathing dragon, this makes two outlandish ideas that Volition have nixed for the upcoming open world action adventure.

Of course, with aliens, mechs, Dubstep guns and the return of Gat, there’ll still be plenty of insanity happening when Saints Row IV releases on August 20th for Xbox 360, PC and PS3 in North America.
