MLB The Show 16 has had a number of problems since the game launched in March. Chief among them are the connectivity issues that SCE San Diego has had problems fixing. The development team believes it has finally fixed the problem by launching patch 1.02 on Thursday. In a blog post on the game’s official forums the company announced not only did it think it had fixed the connectivity issues but would also issue a gift to those who had been dealing with the problem.

“We apologize that the excitement of launch and the start of the season has been soured by these issues. Our team is taking every step necessary and working around the clock to stabilize our online servers as soon as possible. In acknowledgment of the frustration these issues have caused, if you’ve played The Show 16 while connected to PlayStation Network before 1 pm PDT, Friday, April 8, we’re adding 5,000 stubs and 10 standard packs to your account. Stubs will show up automatically by Tuesday, April 12; no redemption required. Packs can be accessed in the “Open Packs” section by Tuesday, April 12 (via “Main Menu > My Locker > Inventory > Open Packs”),” the company stated.

Getting into the servers has really only been part of the problem. There have also been problems with the game freezing up when going into one screen or another. Now that it looks like the problems have been ironed out, it’s time to figure out whether you want to purchase MLB The Show 16 and before you make that decision, check out our wiki to get all the info on the game.

Everything you need to know about MLB 16: The Show.

MLB 16: The Show is an upcoming Major League Baseball game that is currently being developed by Sony Computer Entertainments San Diego Studio, and published by the larger Sony Computer Entertainment firm. MLB 16: The Show is going to be the 11th game in this long running series. This game is still only being developed for the Sony platform. In the past the title was released on the PS4, PS3 and the PS Vita but MLB 16: The Show will no longer be offered on the handheld device. Instead, this year’s version of the game is only going to be on the PS4 and PS3. The game is slated for release on March 29, 2016.

Development

The development cycle for games in the MLB The Show series are often notoriously lacking in actual development details, because Sony puts together the game all on its own. The series is in its 11th year and fans of the baseball game are expecting the game every spring. This means there isn’t a need to build up excitement or alert the gaming public this year’s MLB The Show is in development.

MLB 16: The Show was officially announced as part of the PlayStation Experience in December of 2015. The game was announced with the issuance of a new gameplay trailer. At the same time the game’s release date was confirmed as being on March 29, 2016. During the announcement of the title, the company also let people know who was going to be the cover athlete for this year’s iteration of the series. Josh Donaldson was announced as the player who will be gracing the cover.

The company announced there will actually be two versions of MLB 16: The Show. There will be the regular $60 version that is the most popular as it is the basic version. There will also be a $70 version of the game that is being called the MVP Edition. The MVP Edition is going to come packed with the MVP Edition Steelbook and Exclusive Cover. The game will also be coming with the Opening Day Pack of players for one particular portion of the game. Those who buy this version of the game will also get 5K in Stubs which are the in-game currency. Those who purchase the title will also get 31 MLB Themed PS4 Avatars.

Among other features included in this new iteration in the series is one that was first introduced in MLB 15: The Show. This is the ability to carry over saves from one version of the game to another. This carry over ability works in both the Franchise mode and the Road to the Show mode. This allows players to continue on a long career that was created in the immediately proceeding game but allow them access to the souped up graphics and other features in the new game. This iteration of the series is just the second that offers the ability to have officially licensed, real world sporting equipment. This means for the second straight year, players will be able to have a more realistic experience.

Gameplay

The game has a number of different game modes that will be playable in MLB 16: The Show. The first offers up a play now mode that allows people to jump into a game between two major league teams. This mode is the most basic in that there isn’t any real setup other than picking the two teams who will go out onto the field. There are a few things that can be customized in this particular mode such as the kind of weather that will be going on in the game. You can also choose a number of different uniforms for the teams that are going to be going against one another in the Play Now Mode.

Diamond Dynasty is a mode that returns for the second year in a row in MLB 16: The Show. This mode allows you to build a kind of fantasy team from players past and present in the major leagues. Once you have built a team of 25 players, you will be able to take on other players offline and online, depending on which you prefer. At first there are a limited number of players that you will be able to select for your Diamond Dynasty team, and these will be represented by cards. The developers have said that players will be able to earn more cards every time they turn on the game. There will also be the ability to purchase packs of cards as well as barter them in an online trading house. The game is said to include some baseball legends as well as current players in the pool of virtual player cards, these are icons from the last 70 years of the sport. There will be 30 in total with each major league team having one representative.

There is also a franchise mode that allows players to take over their favorite major league franchise and either try and jumpstart a losing team or continue a winning team’s march towards greatness. Players will basically take on the general manager’s role and will be allowed to hire and fire the coaching staff and scouts as well as demote and promote players from the minor leagues. Players will also be able to trade, as well as sign free agents and go from one year to the next, attempting to build a dynasty.

The final mode in MLB 16: The Show is the Road to the Show. This allows players to step into the shows of either a real major leaguer or a brand new minor leagur who is trying to make the big leagues. If the player takes on the role of a created player he will attempt to climb the minors, reach the majors and become a superstar. The developers have said they have tweaked the training mode in MLB 16: The Show in order to make progression more fun.

Teams

All of the teams that are in Major League Baseball are in MLB 16: The Show. There are also all AAA and AA teams in the game, though the minor league teams are not actually playable, other than as a play in Road to the Show. The real minor league teams are used as feeder farm teams for the franchise mode in order to have the real minor league players should users want them.

Note: This wiki will be updated once we have more information about the game

Sweet Tooth would be at home in Drawn to Death, according to Jaffe.

Designer David Jaffe is perhaps one of the more outspoken figures in the gaming industry and his next title, the PS4-exclusive arena shooter Drawn to Death, will feature a bloody and blase atmosphere that goes against what you normally see in shooters these days.

Jaffe expressed his views on free to play in an interview with PS Gamer (he despises a “Pay to Win” scenario). He also talked about the current state of other shooters and the concept of kill-streaks.

“Even once you have bought the game, you are leveling up to earn weapons which is insane to me. It’s like we can both own the same game but you are a higher level than me so you have access to more gear. That’s not skill base. That’s sh***y. You have just been playing longer. I don’t even like kill streaks. I f**king hate kill streaks because it breaks the skill. ‘So let me get this straight. You killed a bunch of people and we are going to give you even more of an ability to kill a bunch of people’. What the f**k is that?”

Jaffe was also asked which PlayStation characters he’d like to see in Drawn to Death. “It would be hard not to see Sweet Tooth being at home in this world. Bloodborne would be great but seeing as though you can make your own characters, there hasn’t yet emerged a Bloodborne mascot but the tone of that fits [Drawn to Death].

“This is a game where the dregs of society have gathered together to shoot the sh*t outta one another so the Naughty Dog characters would feel too noble. I wish Ed Boon would let us put Scorpion in this game.”

Drawn to Death will be out this year for PS4. Thoughts on Jaffe’s views? Let us know below.

Everything has been improved for the PS4 version, with environments now sporting more than 1 million polygons.

SCE San Diego’s MLB 14: The Show is now available on the PlayStation 4, having released for the PS3 and PS Vita. If you own either of the former, you’ll be able to continue your progress in the PS4 version.

Speaking on the PlayStation Blog, director of production Chris Cutliff reaffirmed that the PS4 version wasn’t just a port. “We weren’t content to simply port over this year’s game to PS4; our talented team has invested a great deal of work into this next-gen debut.” To that end, all MLB stadiums were created from scratch and environments have more than 1 million polygons (as compared to 150,000 on the PS3). It also features “fully rendered” grass, improved player models, “fully redone” HD crowd audio and much more.

“Our goal every year is to capture as closely as possible the excitement that takes place on the real world field and to show why baseball is the best sport in the world.”

SCE San Diego's next big baseball game has turned out absolutely gorgeous.

MLB 14: The Show now has a release date but more than that, the game’s PS4 visuals are impressing players left and right. The PS4 version is confirmed to run at 1080p and 60 FPS and will look to take advantage of the console in just about every way possible. You can check out the PS3 trailer above to see how the gameplay fares.

As of now, there will be more than 1,000 different crowd models of 10,000 polygons each with each stadium consisting of more than 1 million polygons. Heck, the Mike Napoli’s beard has roughly 40,000 individually drawn hairs and each blade of grass in each stadium is wholly unique and individually rendered. This doesn’t include details like rusted metal, mats that now look wrinkled and creased and much, much more.

Did we mention the lighting system actually enables the light to enter a player’s skin and then come out, thus reflecting skin tone? The same effect applies to other materials thus making them look more natural and realistic in the process.

MLB 14: The Show will release on April 1st for the PS3 and PS Vita while the PS4 version is out in May. Check out screenshots for the PS4 version below.

Check out how this edition presents itself compared to last year.

SCE San Diego is back with a new developer blog for MLB 13: The Show, the upcoming baseball simulator for Playstation 3 and PS Vita releasing on March 5th 2013.

The new dev blog looks at the so-called “Road to the Show” and showcases the new features and presentation gimmicks that will be seen this time around. This includes new cameras on the field to give a more dynamic feel to the action and more realistic audio to go with the customization.

MLB 13: The Show is putting a lot of emphasis on the realism aspect but will also be overhauling its Diamond Dynasty mode to allow players to craft the perfect teams.

As if to make it more worthwhile, both the PS3 and PS Vita versions will feature cross play for competing against real-life opponents no matter where you go and cross-save for moving back and forth between playing at home and on the go.

SCE San Diego has looked to make the game more accessible and streamlined for players.

SCE San Diego has released a new trailer MLB 13: The Show, putting the focus on the Diamond Dynasty mode when it releases on March 5th for PS3 and PS Vita.

As MLB 13’s version of Ultimate Team, The Diamond Dynasty mode has been significantly streamlined and made more accessible for fans.

Dynasty card contain info on players’ attributes and beginning stats, and also allow you to differentiate between various kinds of pitchers like starters, relievers and closers.

You can also go with a designated hitter, choose from American and National League rules and craft better logos with the improved editor. Diamond Dynasty also provides quick view of your team and their overall progress. And don’t worry – now measures have been introduced to prevent players from quitting so easily.

MLB 13: The Show will feature cross-play and cross-save between the PS Vita and PS3 versions. Did we mention Buster Posey and his efforts to become the next cover athlete? Wonder what happened to that guy.

And I swear I didn't make a word of that up.

There are times where you think a particular publicity stunt is beyond a publisher or studio but are blissfully reminded of the obvious at times. At first, seeing this MLB 13: The Show “Cover Showdown” video which has MVP Buster Posey wishing upon his World Series trophy to be the next cover athlete made me think this was EA’s doing.

But no, MLB 13: The Show is from SCE San Diego and arriving on PS3 and PS Vita on March 5th 2013.

Alright then.

Whether you like baseball or not, MLB: The Show is quite the game series, with MLB 12: The Show scoring quite high when it released last year on PS3 (the Vita version did slightly less but still good). So there’s no doubt in my mind that SCE can deliver a compelling experience.

The question is: Will Buster Posey finally get that jet-ski he wants for his birthday?

The tension is killing me.
