Much in line with Square Enix’s other major releases, Marvel’s Avengers will have a collector’s edition. Not only that but it will come with a 12 inch statue of the First Avenger, Captain America. The statue was revealed at San Diego Comic Con as reported Marvel VP and creative executive Ryan Penagos on Twitter.

Created in collaboration with Gentle Giant Studios, the statue has a quote from Steve Rogers stating that, “This nation was founded on one principle above all else: the requirement that we stand up for what we believe, no matter the odds or the consequences.” Suffice it to say that his characterization is pretty much what we’ve expected from Marvel Comics over the years.

The collector’s edition isn’t available to pre-order yet. However, the official Marvel’s Avengers Twitter page has announced that more details will be revealed before the year ends. That includes when fans will be able to pre-order.

It’s still a ways to go before Marvel’s Avengers releases on May 15th, 2020 for Xbox One, PS4, PC, and Google Stadia. Some leaked footage from Comic-Con has showcased some of the alternate costumes for heroes like The Incredible Hulk. Furthermore, it’s been confirmed that Kamala Khan (the new Ms. Marvel) will be in the game, though whether she takes up that mantle remains to be seen. Marvel’s Avengers might not have Hawkeye (yet), but we’ve already seen several major Marvel characters, like mainstays Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, and Black Widow. Antagonists like Taskmaster and Abomination have also been confirmed, while at E3 we also saw a glimpse of Hank Pym’s Ant-Man.

At the game’s recent appearance at the Marvel panel at San Diego Comic-Con, with some fresh footage, the game confirmed the appearance of one more character- Kamala Khan, also known as Ms. Marvel, who was seen (as a young girl) in one scene wearing a Captain Marvel shirt, before being affected by some leaking Terrigen Mist, which, of course, is something comic book readers will be familiar with (via Reddit).

Popular theories online right now suggest she is the one who was narrating the game’s E3 trailer (which would also go in line with her general personality, actually). Meanwhile, though the footage of the prologue that was shown at SDCC showed her as a young woman, considering the fact that everything in the game after the prologue takes place after a time jump of five years, it’s possible that she goes on to have a major role to play in the story (and maybe even appear as a playable character).

Gameplay demo footage shown for Marvel’s Avengers at SDCC will be released to the general public at the end of August following Gamescom, but attendees have started leaking footage already, which shows graphical improvements and alternate costumes. Take a look at those through here.

Nintendo’s got an impressive lineup of releases coming up in the remainder of 2019, and the bulk of those games will be present at San Diego Comic-Con when the Big N brings them to the convention this weekend, from July 18 to July 21. Nintendo’s booth will be focusing exclusively on Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order, but at their lounge, they’ll also be bringing playable demos for several other upcoming titles, and a couple of recently released games.

Among these are Pokemon Sword and Shield, Luigi’s Mansion 3 (which recent rumours peg for an October release), and The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, as well as the recently launched Super Mario Maker 2 and the Brace Yourself Games-developed Cadence of Hyrule: Crypt of the NecroDancer.

With Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 launching on July 19, which is smack-dab in the middle of San Diego Comic-Con, it makes sense that that’s the game Nintendo is choosing to focus on the most, but playable demos for other upcoming releases should also (hopefully) yield some interesting new details. Though it was finally officially unveiled at E3 2019, Marvel’s Avengers is still a game we need to know a lot more about. Its E3 reveal received mixed responses from critics and audiences alike, and the general consensus seems to be that we need to see a lot more of actual gameplay footage from the game to be sold (or not) on what Crystal Dynamics, Eidos Montreal, and Square Enix are trying to do with this project.

That gameplay reveal will be coming soon. Square Enix recently sent out a press release, confirming its plans for the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con, where on July 18, at 1:30 PM local time in Hall H, a panel for Avengers will be held, with Shaun Escayg of Crystal Dynamics, creative director of the project, in attendance, alongside the performing cast of the game. The description for the panel confirms that the presentation “will include new information and the first public gameplay reveal”. But there’s a catch- the gameplay reveal will be shown exclusively to those who will be attending in person.

Whether Square Enix will be showing off footage from its narrative-centric, single player-focused campaign, or from the game’s co-op missions remains to be seen, but it’ll be good to have some actual footage of the game in action nonetheless.
