Two new retro compilations debut strong in the UK charts.

Gfk Chart-Track’s latest UK sales data for the week ending May 29th is in. Surprisingly, despite Quantic Dream’s Detroit: Become Human being in first place the week prior and SIE Santa Monica’s God of War doing great business, it’s FIFA 18 that’s currently leading the pack. This is due to heavy promotions at retail outlets and the new free World Cup mode which released on May 29th.

Regardless, Detroit: Become Human is still in second place, showing strong sales in its second week. Far Cry 5 saw a generous uptick from sixth to third place while God of War managed to rise slightly up to fourth place. Sega Mega Drive Classics and Street Fighter: 30th Anniversary Collection are the new releases, ranking fifth and sixth respectively in their debuts.

Other games include Overwatch: Game of the Year Edition remaining steady at seventh place, State of Decay 2 falling heavily from second to eighth place, Dark Souls Remastered falling from third to ninth place and Fallout 4 moving from ninth to tenth place.

The Sega Mega Drive collection was announced more than a month ago, and it is now finally out for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One. A new launch video has also been released to celebrate the launch of this collection of games.

This collection will feature classic titles such as Sonic the Hedgehog, Streets of Rage, and more with some updates. PC gamers who own Sega Mega Driver & Genesis Classics on Steam will automatically receive these new updates. The updates include things like rewind, online multiplayer, leaderboard, save states, and more. You will also be able to adjust graphical filters on these games and there will also be support for VR, Mac, and Linux. The total list of games includes over 50 classics, so if you were a fan of Sega’s old games, then you’ll definitely want to pick this up.

You can check out the launch trailer for the collection below.

Blast processing, now on modern gaming consoles.

Sega’s run as a console manufacturer was tumultuous and marred with a whole lot of consoles that ended up failing, mostly because of how ahead of their time they were- but when they were at the top, they were practically unmatched.

And they were on top with their second console, the Genesis (known as the Mega Drive in Europe, South America, and Japan). The Genesis has some of Sega’s most beloved games of all time, and was the console that, briefly, made Sega’s name synonymous with gaming as a whole.

Now, Sega will be bringing games from it over to modern consoles. Featuring games like Sonic the Hedgehog, Streets of Rage, ToeJam & Earl, Altered Beast, Golden Axe, and many more, the Sega Mega Drive Collection will be launching for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, bringing over 50 Genesis classics to the modern gaming audience (why the Switch was omitted from this announcement is a mystery to me).

It launches on May 29- you can check out its debut trailer for yourself below.
