Available for $14.99 from the Nintendo eShop, the action-adventure side-scroller sees players exploring Punch Mountain for its treasure.

As part of Nintendo’s Inside the House of Indies Holiday Event, Shin’en Multimedia of The Touryst fame announced a new side-scrolling title: The Punchuin. Penguin plus punch equals Punchuin, essentially. Even more interesting is it’s out now for Nintendo Switch. You can get it for $14.99 on the Nintendo eShop.

The “story” involves solving the mystery of Punch Mountain and the treasure that lies within. You do this by punching (obviously), but there’s a block-matching element to it. Breaking ice blocks provide money and diamonds, and you can also upgrade items in the Punch Shop. There are branching paths that unlock new levels, NPCs, and a Versus Mode for playing against a friend.

If that weren’t enough, The Punchuin offers a retro-esque soundtrack to go with its old-school visuals. For more details, check out the official website here. There’s no word yet on if it will release for other platforms, like The Touryst, so stay tuned for more updates in the coming months.

The critically acclaimed action-adventure platformer will support up to 240 frames per second on PC along with 4K resolution.

After first launching on Nintendo Switch in November 2019 and appearing on various other platforms, Shin’en Multimedia’s The Touryst is finally coming to Steam on December 10th. The PC version was previously only available through the Microsoft Store.

The Touryst sees the player arriving on the Monument Islands as, well, a tourist. Part action-adventure, part isometric platformer with an interesting art-style, one has the freedom to go swimming, visit the arcade, shop, partake in beach parties and much more. There’s a deeper mystery surrounding the island’s monuments though and it’s up to the player to solve them.

The Touryst is also available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4 and PS5, and is the first console title to run in 8K/60 FPS on PS5. PC players on Steam can expect 240 frames per second support with support for higher resolutions like 4K. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.
