Sony’s Playstation branded tablet named unimaginatively as, Tablet S seems a little unpopular, prompting in a price drop. The price drop is almost 20% or $100 off the base price, which means both the 16GB and 32GB versions cost $400 and $500 respectively.

The tablet runs on Android, and sports a Tegra 2 processor.

Earlier it received support for Dualshock controllers, which we covered here. Price drop is not a good sign, because it seems like the sales aren’t up to Sony’s expectations, although, this price drop may change the tablet’s fortunes.

You can find the official listing here.

You can already paid the PS3 controller, DualShock 3 with any Android device, but Sony has officially added support for the controller for their latest Tablets. Sony Tablet S is Playstation certified and this is just one step in making it completely compatible with PS devices.

You can use the controller to play… ermm PS1 games, like Crash Bandicoot and the likes. The update is already out in Japan and the Tablet owners get a free download – Ape Escape-themed mini-game collection.

You will need an USB cable to pair the controller with the Tablet, and it’s just needed the first time.

PlayStation (R) * 1 * 2 wireless controller support for three. Video Chat plugged into Skype (TM) * 3 Additional Applications. S Series only cradle (SGPDS1) works better when mounting.

To use the USB adapter cable * 1 (SGPUC1 sold separately) is required.

* 2 Sony Tablet (TM) S-series offers only.
* 3 Sony Tablet (TM) offers the only P-Series.
