Vita means life... in Japan, at least.

News broke recently that Sony will be ending production of PS Vita game cards, meaning no more physical releases for the platform, or even new print runs of existing games- adding another nail to the already nail ridden coffin the Vita was stuffed into ages ago. However, that news does not apply to Japan, the one territory where the PS Vita managed to find a modicum of success.

As Kotaku reports, Sony has confirmed that PS Vita game cards will continue to be manufactured for the Japanese market. They have also commented on their plans for future support for the handheld, saying that “at the present moment in time, we intend to continue our marketing activity” for the Vita. Which… isn’t the most reassuring thing to say, but hey, it’s not like Vita has had much show of confidence from Sony anyway.

For now, you can still buy new PS Vita game cards through the rest of the year- after that, the only ones you will be able to purchase are the ones already on the market. No new ones will be put into circulation. So… better get on getting all the ones you wanted and missed before then.

Loads of God of War goodies

As promised by Sony Santa Monica, God of War‘s photo mode is now available in the form of an update. The photo mode will give you form of a unique camera with specialized tools and filters (as well as the ability to have Kratos and Atreus pose in different ways) for you to commemorate your adventure.

Apart from the Photo Mode, Update 1.20- because, yes, there have somehow been 20 patches released for God of War in the 19 days that it has been out- will also be increasing the text font size in the UI. This was actually one of my few real complaints with the game- I had to sit extremely close to the TV to figure out what was on screen (and I have better than 20-20 vision!). I’m glad to see this will no longer be a thing.

Finally, God of War stickers are now available for free for iOS and Android devices, so you can download them and use them with your favorite messaging application too- so it’s good news all around for God of War fans. God of War is available now exclusively on PlayStation 4.
