No doubt, the future Spidey looks pretty cool.

The cinematics of the game are actually quite impressive as well as action packed. Unfortunately the enemies few and far in between, meaning you won’t have much of a variety of them, even the techniques to kill them can become repetitive.  Speaking of repetition you will find yourself doing to same things over and over again that just seems to make the action more dull as well as take away any real thinking when it comes to getting through areas.

Levels switch between the two different times and Spideys. Both characters have their own specialized moves as well as shared ones that can be leveled up. The classic Spidey has the usual web-slinging moves and punches as well as a new time warp power. The 2099 Spidey is also capable of a time ability as well as being able to create a decoy of himself to fool enemies.  Each character offers deadly ways of ranking up the combat multiplier.

You’re given the ability to stop things from happening in the future and past.

The whole time period plot, you cannot help to feel that it is not quite flawless.  What you do in one time period, directly effect the other and you will switch back and forth between playing as each spider-man in the different time periods.  This can be fun, especially seeing some of results but like I mentioned, it just seems far from flawless.  Most of the time you will just being playing a linear Spidey game where you will be button mashing and seeing repetition over and over.  It is not that bad a game but it is certainly not something I would suggest you run out and purchase.

Spiderman Edge of Time specifically features the classic combos of past Spidey games, with punches, kicks, and aerial smack downs. Characters each have their own chargeable attacks. Parker can charge up a web hammer and O’ Hara can charge up a whirlwind kick. Both characters have access to a time paradox move, which freezes enemies. Despite being inside buildings, web swinging around areas is available, as well as web-zips (automatic travel to ledges) in specific places for quick travel.

Overall the game runs very smoothly, with the only possible control issues coming from wall crawling, which in a rush can be slightly confusing. Otherwise, the various moves and excellent cinema scene graphics offer a fun time. Some players may, however, be disappointed in the fact that it’s a linear game, as opposed to previous Spiderman games that were free-roam.

A new video for Spider-Man: Edge of Time has been released. It’s a developer diary showing the voice actors of the game talking about their characters and their role in the story. The trailer shows some interesting ‘behind the scenes’ footage too.

Spider-Man: Edge of Time is available now across UK retail stores. Created by Beenox, players take the roles of both Peter Parker’s Amazing Spider-Man, and Miguel O’Hara’s Spider-Man 2099, spanning two timelines 100-years apart in order to thwart a cataclysmic future from happening – and the death of Peter Parker.

Playing as the two extremely different personas of Peter Parker and Miguel O’Hara, both heroic web-slingers must urgently work together to correct a timestream gone awry, save each other, and prevent the death of the Amazing Spider-Man.  With the story’s two timelines evolving in parallel, each Super Hero must navigate through “cause-and-effect” gameplay moments, utilising Spider-Man: Edge of Time’s picture-in-picture display where the actions of one Spider-Man can result in immediate, and sometimes unexpected, effects on the other Spider-Man and his surroundings.  Players will battle a variety of fan-favourite and all-new villains, including Anti-Venom and Black Cat 2099, using expanded combat abilities specific to each timeline – from Spider-Man 2099’s close-quarters brute force, futuristic enhancements and gravity-defying acrobatics, to the Amazing Spider-Man’s evasive techniques, upgraded web abilities and ranged tactics, as they race against time to preserve the balance of both worlds.

Spider-Man: Edge of Time is PEGI rated 16 and is available on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii and Nintendo 3DS, all developed by Beenox.  The Nintendo 3DS edition marks the debut of Spider-Man on Nintendo’s newest platform.  A Nintendo DS version, created by developer Other Ocean, is also available and features a platforming adventure full of unique villains, such as the first-ever appearances of Overdrive, Arcade and Big Wheel 2099, created exclusively for this version.

The next game in the Spider-Man series is out, and being the sequel to the excellent Shattered Dimension, everybody had a lot of expectations from Spider-Man: Edge of Time. Reviews for the game have now started coming in, and it does not look good. But rather than you having to search the entire internet to see those not-so-positive reviews, we’ve listed all the reviews for the game (so far) below:

Marvel has released the launch trailer for Spider-Man: Edge of Time (along with some launch screens), which is now available for the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and DS. The trailer shows the concept of time travelling and what role the two timeline and their Spideys will play play in the game’s story.

It looks really, really good. We can’t wait to get our hands on it. Stay tuned to GB, we’ll have more updates and a review up for you very soon.

Activision/Blizzard have officially announce the release of the next Spider-man game call Spiderman: Edge of Time. Developed by Beenox Studios and Published by Activision, you will play as both classic Amazing Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2099 as you must adventure to prevent the death of Peter Parker is the past. Edge of Time has two connected timelines, one being the modern contemporary Amazing Spider-Man with the other being the future world of Spider-Man 2099.
