'A true PlayStation exclusive.'

We finally got to see more of Spider-Man. Introducing it as ‘a true PlayStation exclusive’ in a sly jab at Microsoft’s increasingly contrived wording for Xbox ‘exclusives’, the game was shown off with stunning, fluid combat, incredible graphics, and what is to be an open world.

It also looks so fun. Like, damn, this is what a Spider-Man game should be like. It felt so fun, so true to the character. We got to see some great setpieces, some webslinging, we got some indication of the story and characters (apparently, Wilson Fisk is in the game), and we got to see Spider-Man’s powers in action. There was also some stunning parkour in effect (which, of course, makes utter sense in Spider-Man).

Literally everything we saw looked great. This looks like it will be for Spider-Man what Batman: Arkham Asylum was for Batman video games. The game will be launching exclusively on the PS4 in 2018.

Though it hasn't been confirmed.

While people are rarely turning to a site like IMDB for information about video games, those same people will go to great lengths to get information when there isn’t much to be had. The new Spiderman game that is coming exclusively to the PS4 has been very stingy with details, recently skipping the game awards and the Playstation Experience.

Now the plot for the game briefly showed up on IMDB and anxious gamers are running with the small amount of information the synopsis gave them. That synopsis claimed that the story was laid out like this:

“Spiderman must fight terrifying foe the Green Goblin as he contends with his usual life of being a married man with a daughter. But when the Goblin hatches a new plan, can spidey save his family and himself?” That story certainly sounds like one we’d like to see play out in the upcoming video game. Comicsbeat reports this is a 2017 game which would also be a nice surprise.

Expect to hear more in 2017.

Among the many big-name games that will be showcased this week, including The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Prey, Mass Effect Andromeda and rumoured titles like The Last of Us 2 and Marvel vs. Capcom 4, we know one game that won’t be seen at either PlayStation Experience or The Game Awards.

Insomniac’s Spiderman, revealed for the first time at E3 2016 and exclusive to the PS4, won’t be seen at either event. As stated on Twitter, “We’re not showing new #SpiderManPS4 content at PSX/The Game Awards, but we’re hard at work on cool stuff to share in 2017!”

The developer understood the disappointment of fans and noted, “We had a very little bit more at the PS4 Pro event. But we understand the disappointment. Working hard here!”

Spiderman is going to be interesting because it has its own standalone story and will be the biggest Marvel game yet. We’ve already seen the acrobatics that ol’ Spidey is capable of and they look pretty damn good, in 4K or otherwise. What are your thoughts on Spiderman not being showcased this week? Let us know below.

Yosuke Matsuda talks about his E3 and the other game that surprised him.

Insomniac Games’ Spiderman for the PS4 is still a ways off but it’s receiving positive attention all around since its reveal at Sony’s E3 presser. It’s not only gamers who are impressed with it though. While speaking to Weekly Famitsu, Square Enix president Yosuke Matsuda spoke about his favourite games at E3 and was most surprised by the quality of Spiderman.

The other big name game that cause Matsuda by surprise was God of War, an intriguing new beginning in SIE Santa Monica Studio’s franchise. Matsuda also felt that E3 was being used as a turning point of sorts with more publishers making announcements before the actual show and then using it to offer more information.

There’s a balance to be maintained with delivering news to consumers (which can be done through streaming gameplay) along with using the exposure a trade show can provide. Neither God of War nor Spiderman have release dates and it will be interesting to see if they can maintain interest in the meantime.

Current release date on GameStop is a placeholder.

Enjoyed Insomniac Games’ Spiderman PS4 and hoping it comes out soon? As if the lack of a release date at E3 2016 wasn’t enough of an indication, the developer has reiterated that it won’t be coming anytime soon.

Answering a fan’s question on Twitter as to whether it would be out soon, Insomniac noted, “All we said was there was no release date. Likely not going to announce one anytime soon.”

The studio also noted that the release date on GameStop, December 26th 2017, is not the actual release. “That’s a placeholder. No release date right now.”

Spiderman PS4 is Insomniac’s next big triple A title and may be its biggest game till date so it’s a given that it will take a while to get right. Hopefully it doesn’t slip too far off in the coming years like many others PS4 exclusives have. Stay tuned for more information in the meantime and let us know when you think Spiderman would release in the comments.

Insomniac shares a few more details on its upcoming open world game.

In case there was any doubt as to the size of Insomniac Games’ Spiderman, a PS4 exclusive revealed recently at E3 2016 during Sony’s presser, then here’s some reassurance. In some recent tweets, the developer noted the size of the development team it has working on Spiderman and the engine it will be using.

Regarding whether Insomniac was working on Spiderman everyday or it had other projects in the pipeline, the developer noted, “Yes we have a huge team working on this game full time.”

It also responded on whether Spiderman was using the same engine as Ratchet & Clank and whether upgrades had been made. “We always iterate our engine between games. We don’t have more than one though.”

Spiderman PS4 is apparently the developer’s largest game till date and certainly Marvel’s largest till now. No word yet on the release date or final name so stay tuned for more information in the coming months.

Does whatever little a spider can at E3.

Wow, now that’s impressive. The E3 reveal trailer for the new Spiderman game by Insomniac was actually in-engine footage, in real-time, not pre-rendered. Given Insomniac’s record with the Resistance series, which pushed the PS3 to its graphical limits, and Ratchet and Clank, the latest outing of which looks almost as good as CGI on PS4 we’re not too surprised on this score.

After Spiderman’s outing, and widespread fan disbelief that what was showed was actual in-game footage, Insomniac took to Twitter and posted “We just showed gameplay last night.”

Even more surprising is that the Spiderman footage was running off a plain ol’ PS4. With Sony and Microsoft having officially confirmed their mid-gen console refreshes, it wouldn’t even be deceptive marketing to out too-good-to-be-true footage at E3, since both actually have hardware now that (at least on paper) can push high-fidelity visuals sans downgrades.

Insomniac further confirmed that Spiderman will be an open world title, with a “completely original story and universe.”

We just showed gameplay last night. Trailer was all in game.

While it’s been a couple of years since we saw a superhero-based video game that wasn’t Deadpool, the drought might soon be coming to an end. Nerdleaks, a Twitter account that claims to have some inside info says a currently untitled Spiderman game in on the way to the PS4.

The last time we talked about a video game for the Marvel Comics web-slinger, we were talking about a possible Spiderman 2 game for the Xbox One. “It’s been too long since last leak. Here’s one. Sony is working at “Untitled Spiderman PS4 Project”. Trailer incoming (E3 2016?),” Nerdleaks posted on its social media account.

It should be pointed out there hasn’t even been anything even close to confirmation about this rumor. There have even been people who pointed out that Activision still owns the rights to Spiderman and Sony doesn’t tend to publish games other companies own the rights to. We’ll just have to wait and see what comes of this untitled Spiderman game rumor in the next few weeks.

Marvel Comics has been an icon in almost everyone’s life, because at one point we have read a comic or two and most of the time we have been captured by the sheer ingenuity of the comics and what they represent. Marvel started in 1939 as Timely Publications, and by the early 1950s or so become known as Atlas Comics.

The series created by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, and many others have spawned video games, films that have since then grossed into the billions of dollars. Comic books have often been shunned by people who think themselves too “mature” but comic books have given people hope, ideas and happiness to millions of people. Characters such as Spider-Man, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, Iron Man, the Hulk, Captain America, the Silver Surfer, and the Avengers, have all at one point made changing the world a very possible idea to ordinary people.

Black Bolt’s powers is something to be in awe of , or rather be shit scared of, because if he speaks it triggers a massive shockwave of sorts capable of leveling a city. Which is why over the years the character has undergone extreme mental training to prevent himself from uttering a sound, even in sleep. Black Bolt is a great character make no mistake and he is a great asset. He has battled the Hulk and survived, and has known to have survived a lot of wars. Black Bolt later came to possess Cosmic Awareness which alloweds him an omnipresence consciousness to know exactly what he feels he needs to know at any given moment.

Anyway, maybe this might even be a return to form for Spiderman games. Does anyone remember Spider-Man 2? God that was a good game. The best superhero game until Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham games hit the scene. Hopefully this is a bit more like that than like recent games.

The Amazing Spider-Man hits every platform known to man later this month.
