Remedy Entertainment’s Sam Lake has come forward to explain Quantum Break, the upcoming Xbox One exclusive, in a new gameplay trailer that debuted at the Spike VGX Awards. It features “dynamic cover mechanics” and “intensive gunplay” against the backdrop of a collapsing time stream. We also get a look at the primary antagonistic faction Monarch. Lake talks about how the studio took the emotional story-telling of Alan Wake and the stylized cinematic action of Max Payne to deliver a compelling experience in Quantum Break. Players will take control of Jack and Beth, along with being able to control the main villain Paul Serene – all of whom possess time control powers, that see time rewind and fast forward at chaotic intervals. It’s really something, that’s for sure.

Quantum Break is slated to release in 2014 for Xbox One with a release date “currently in mind” at Remedy.

Eidos Montreal’s Thief, a reboot for the classic first person sneaker franchise, got a new 5 minute trailer at Spike’s VGX Awards. Check it out above.

Thief sees the return of Garret to The City, a place now over-run by an authoritarian government and slowly being consumed by the plague. That doesn’t borrow our main man though. He’s in it to win it and will be using his trademark gadgets and some new powers to rob the wealthy of their riches. Such powers include the new Focus, which can be used to slow things down during combat for counters and also to steal much more at a given time.

Thief releases for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, PS4 and PC on February 25th 2014 in North America and February 28th 2014 in Europe. Stay tuned for more details and reveals from the Spike VGX as the awards show rolls on and let us know what you think of Thief.

Geoff Keighley, the host of the upcoming Spike’s VGX show tweeted earlier today that footage from the soon to be released Tom Clancy game, The Division, will be aired during the broadcast this coming Saturday night. His tweet read:

“New in-engine look at Tom Clancy’s The Division from @ubisoft is coming to VGX this Saturday night at vgxlive.com”

With this latest announcement, Tom Clancy’s The Division becomes the fifth confirmed game to be on display at the award ceremony, which will air on December 7th at 6PM.

In addition to the announcement of The Division, Karl Stewart, the VP of marketing at Square Enix made the announcement that two new game trailers will debut on their end, potentially bringing the number of featured titles to seven. Rumor has it that one of those trailers will be for the ‘Definitive Edition’ release of Tomb Raider for PS4. Keighly has also confirmed that footage of Quantum Break, the Xbox One exclusive, will be shown, as well as “a big surprise” regarding the much anticipated Titanfall.
