Star Fox Zero on the other hand is neither a sequel or a prequel of the original game. In fact, Nintendo has stated that this is not even a remake.

Star Fox Zero and Star Fox Guard are now available for the Nintendo Wii U. The game was developed by Nintendo EPD and PlatinumGames, and published by Nintendo.
