It is every bit as terrible as you would think.

Star Ocean 5: Integrity and Faithlessness has received a brand new trailer, and this trailer has the distinction of showing us, for the very first time, what the English voice acting in the game will be like. And it will be every bit as terrible as might have imagined.

Of course, while I am no expert on assessing the quality of Japanese voice work, I am pretty sure that has been pretty terrible in all the trailers I have seen for Star Ocean 5 so far too- so, you know, I mean, at least they are staying true to the original with the localization?

But hey, that said, the game at least looks great- fans of the series, as well as of JRPGs, are doubtless looking forward to playing it, the quality of voice acting be damned. Star Ocean 5 will launch in Japan on PS3 and PS4, and launch in the west later this year, exclusively on the PS4.

Square Enix’s Star Ocean 5 is launching next year for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. The game actually looks pretty awesome (hopefully a return to form for the series after a general decline for the last few games), and for fans of Japanese games, just perhaps its existence is reassuring.

The good news is the game continues to justify its keep, as this brand new footage for it shows. While those from the outside might wonder what all the fuss is about when they see the footage, which looks unimaginably Japanese, and with not enough compelling gameplay, Star Ocean fans will probably delight at the notion of a new game in the series, and one that seems to be channelling series classics so well at that.

Star Ocean 5 is due out next year for the PS3 and PS4 in Japan, and presumably, in the west as well. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more coverage and information.

"The PS3 market has almost diminished to nothing.”

Square Enix has tons of goodies for us in the coming year and one of them is Star Ocean 5: Integrity and Faithlessness. The game is set to release in Japan in winter and in the United States sometime in 2016. Interestingly enough the developers are also releasing a PlayStation 3 version of the game , which will be launched only in Japan.

Speaking to Destructoid, Star Ocean 5 producer Shuichi Kobayashi stated, “It’s simple. The PS3 still has a fairly large market in Japan, but in the West, particularly the United States, people have just moved on to PS4. The PS3 market has almost diminished to nothing.”

Square Enix isn’t done with the last gen consoles, but it may not focus much of its resources in the future to it, seeing that a number of companies are looking towards the current crop of consoles. Do you think there is still potential for the last gen consoles? Let us know in the comments below.

The Japanese giant returns to E3. What are they bringing with them? Watch the action live, here.

After so many years, Square Enix is returning to E3, which means that they have something up their sleeves. But first, let’s get the disappointments out of the way- Final Fantasy XV is confirmed to not be there. Kingdom Hearts III probably won’t be either.

So why bother? Because they have so much more that will be showcased. You can bet your ass Deus Ex: Mankind Divided will be showcased in great detail at their show, while Star Ocean 5, Dragon Quest Heroes, Bravely Second, and a rumored new Hitman game might all chip in too. We might get to see more of Rise of the Tomb Raider, and there have been rumblings of a new Chrono related announcement.

Will Square ENix deliver on their hype? Nah, they almost never do. Still, there’s an outside chance that they might. Why wouldn’t you want to catch all the action just in case that they do?
