The tactical FPS will set you back $14.99.

Star Wars: Republic Commando first came out for Xbox and PC all the way back in 2005, and as a tactical first person shooter, it was quite different from what you expect to see in a Star Wars game. It was also quite good though, and if you agree with that, there’s good news for you.

As was recently leaked, Star Wars: Republic Commando will be releasing for PS4 and Nintendo Switch this April. Aspyr Media – who also handled recently re-releases for Star Wars Episode 1: Racer, Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, and Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast – will be publishing the game. Aspyr were recently acquired by Embracer Group.

There’s no mention yet of an Xbox release (which is ironic, considering the fact that the game was an Xbox console exclusive when it launched originally)- the game is, however, playable on Xbox via backward compatibility, so there’s that.

On PS4 and Nintendo Switch though, the game will cost $14.99. It launches on April 6. You can watch the announcement trailer below.

The first person shooter might be releasing on Switch in the near future.

The 2005 tactical first person shooter Star Wars: Republic Commando might not be the biggest and most high profile Star Wars game, but it’s got a sizeable fan following nonetheless, and there’s no shortage of people who still remember its action fondly. If you’re one such fan, there might be something to look forward to in the near future.

Well-known dataminer @NWPlayer123 recently discovered a server update by Nintendo for Star Wars: Republic Commando, suggesting that the game might be headed to the Switch soon. As per the update in question the game will apparently by published by Aspyr Media (who were recently acquired by Embracer Group).

If Republic Commando is indeed headed to the Switch, it’s possible that an announcement for the re-release might be imminent as well. Aspyr Media have recently published a number of ports for older Star Wars titles, including Star Wars Episode 1: Racer, Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, and Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast. Each of those re-releases also launched for PC and PS4, so if Republic Commando does get a modern port, it could be headed to those platforms as well.

Either way, we’ll keep you updated, so stay tuned.

The world may have moved on but these plot threads remain loose.

As much as we’d like every story to neatly wrap up its various plot threads, that’s not always possible especially with how complex some can be. This is the case across a number of media and video games are no exception. Nevertheless, we just can’t help but pine for some kind of official resolution after so many years. Let’s take a look at 15 such unresolved threads that need immediate closure. Numerous spoilers abound including for recent games like The Last of Us Part 2.

Destiny 2 – The Dreaming City Curse, Uldren’s Revival, etc

You could write a book on the number of unresolved plot points in Destiny 2. The Dreaming City curse, Uldren’s revival as a Guardian, Mara Sov’s disappearance, the Nine, the Dredgen, Mithrax – the list goes on and on. Heck, we’re only now seeing some plot progression regarding the Darkness aka the giant pyramid ships, but that’s at a venerable snail’s pace. Don’t even get us started on all the threads from Destiny 1 that are still yet to be resolved (like what the Traveler even is).

They may not have had their due but these shooters still rock.

Shooters are a dime a dozen especially in this battle royale-dominated era. Things weren’t too different back in the day but there were quite a few underrated titles that fell by the wayside, whether in sales or critical reception. Even worse are the games which had both but have been seemingly forgotten in the years since their release. Let’s take a look back at 15 of the most underrated first person shooters that you probably didn’t play.

No One Lives Forever

Zany 1960s spy aesthetic, hilariously clever writing, unique mission objectives and an endearing protagonist. What more could you want? No One Lives Forever was also releasing in a post-Half-Life era where stronger story-telling was valued in first person shooters. Alas, its success wasn’t to be. Despite rave reviews from critics, NOLF would release in November 2000 and only sell 36,501 copies by the end of the year. Even worse is the fact that current-generation players can’t experience it due to muddled IP rights. Nevertheless, whatever the future may hold, Cate Archer will forever be in our hearts.
