The lineup of games to be added to Game Pass across console, cloud, and PC in the first half of April was recently leaked, and that leak has turned out to be accurate. Microsoft has officially unveiled the fresh batch of games coming to the service, and there’s quite a few big names in here.

For the sports enthusiasts out there, MLB The Show 22 and Cricket 22 are both available on Game Pass for console and cloud starting today. Starting April 7, cloud users will be able to play Dragon Age 2, Star Wars Squadrons, and Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare via EA Play. The same day will also see the launch of Chinatown Detective Agency, a cybernoir point and click adventure, for Game Pass on console, PC, and cloud.

April 12 is also going to see some activity, with the addition of Life is Strange: True Colors (console, cloud, and PC), strategy title Panzer Corps 2 (PC only), and tactical RPG The Dungeon of Naheulbeuk (already available on console and cloud, coming to PC).

Finally, on April 14, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will get access to Lost in Random on PC, cloud, and console via EA Play.

Motive Studios’ Star Wars: Squadrons is out next month and it seems that principle development has wrapped. Over on Twitter, creative director Ian S. Frazier confirmed that it had gone gold. Though development will still continue and we’ll likely see a day one patch, this means the game is ready to be manufactured and distributed on discs, certified for digital release and so on.

Star Wars: Squadrons focuses on the space dog-fighting aspects of the franchise. Taking place after Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, it sees the Galactic Empire facing off against the New Republic. The campaign will alternate between pilots on Titan Squadron and Vanguard Squadron respectively, which players can customize as they see fit.

Multiplayer includes Dogfight for some 5v5 action and Fleet Battles with both teams working to destroy the other’s Capital Ship. With four different fighter classes on each side, a variety of upgrades and no microtransactions, Star Wars: Squadrons looks to cater to the old-school space combat fan. It’s out on October 2nd for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

Star Wars: Squadrons looks like an exciting prospect for Star Wars fans, offering something that not a lot of Star Wars games have offered in recent years with its complete emphasis on flight and aerial combat. In a new trailer premiered at Gamescom Opening Night Live, developers Motive Studios provided a brief look at what players can expect from the single player campaign.

The campaign will see players taking control of two characters, one on the Empire’s side and one fighting for the Republic, and feature a variety of missions, from bombing runs to large-scale space battles. The trailer shows various scenes of combat, plenty of locations – some of which fans of the franchise will recognize – and more. Take a look below.

Star Wars: Squadrons will release for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on October 2, and will be completely playable in VR on PS4 and PC. It will have 4 classes and 8 starfighters at launch- and the developers have stated that it’s not going to be a live service title. You can check out more gameplay footage through here.

Lots of options for what you'll want to fly.

Publisher EA has expressed that they plan to “double down” on their use of the ever-popular Star Wars franchise. Well, that begins later in the year with the recently announced Star Wars: Squadrons. The game will take you to space once more, this time in the cockpit of various different ships from both the Empire and the Rebels, and now we know what kind of selection we’ll have.

As detailed via the official site, developer Motive Studios confirmed that you’ll have a decent selection of options at launch. You’ll get to chose between eight starfighters that encompass four different classes: Fighters, Bombers, Interceptors, and Support.

Fighters are the most balanced ship and one used for being in the thick of dogfights. Bombers are the slowest, but can take the most damage and dish out the most during successful bombing runs. Interceptors are incredibly fast and tailored for fast-paced dog fights but can’t take much damage. And finally, Support is tailored towards helping your allies and are agile enough to get in and out of sticky situations, though do little damage. You will have eight different starfighters to chose from for whatever class you prefer, and you can see thefull details through here. More fighters will come post-launch.

Star Wars: Squadrons will release October 2nd for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. You can also read about the large amount of customization you can have for the game through here.

"We have a tremendous relationship with Disney," says EA CEO Andrew Wilson.

Over the last year or so, EA have handled their exclusive Star Wars license than the shoddy work they had been doing with it for much of this generation. Not only have they managed to turn things around for Star Wars Battlefront 2, last year’s Jedi: Fallen Order was also an incredible success, while the upcoming Star Wars: Squadrons also looks promising.

And EA have every intention of doubling down on the success they have found with the license. Speaking in a recent investors call (via VGC), EA CEO Andrew Wilson commented on the success EA have seen with many different kinds of Star Wars games. Noting their strong working relationship with Disney and LucasArts, Wilson said that EA plans to “double down on that partnership.”

“I would say again, we have a tremendous relationship with Disney [and] we have a tremendous relationship with LucasArts – we have a long-standing relationship with them going all the way back to Star Wars: The Old Republic, which we launched in 2011,” Wilson said. “We’ve had success in first-person shooters, in RPGs, in action-adventure, in MMORPGs, in mobile and I believe we’re going to have success in Squadrons as well.

“So again, I think that we’re going to double down on that partnership. Disney continues to be very, very committed to the IP and the canon, and continue to create new content.”

EA CFO Blake Jorgensen also commented on the success of Respawn’s Jedi: Fallen Order during the call, saying that the foundation thee game laid down with its story and characters is something EA can build upon “for many years to come.”

“Vince [Zampella]’s team on Jedi: Fallen Order built an incredible partnership with Lucas and were able to build new characters and content that had never been seen, which is rare in the history of Star Wars,” he said. “It just shows the creative partnership that we’ve built and credit to Vince, Stig [Asmussen] and the team… they’ve built a foundation for things that we could do there for many years to come.”

It’s worth noting that EA have explicitly said that last year’s Fallen Order was the first game in a new franchise. Meanwhile, job listings have also suggested that work on a new Star Wars game is already underway at Respawn.

Meanwhile, Star Wars: Squadrons will be releasing for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on October 2, and will be fully playable in VR on PC and PS4. It will cost $40, won’t feature any loot boxes or microtransactions, and is supposedly not being designed as a live service game.

EA unveiled Star Wars: Squadrons earlier this week, and though they did so with a great cinematic trailer, what people have been really waiting for is gameplay footage from the dogfighting game. At EA Play 2020 recently, we got just that.

In the single player campaign, players will see the story through the perspective of two characters- a pilot each for the New Republic and the Empire. Taking place after the events of Return of the Jedi, the game will feature a diverse cast of characters, including some returning familiar faces.

Details on various different kinds of ships and their unique attributes and strengths are dropped in the trailer, while customization – cosmetic and otherwise – is also detailed. The trailer then moves to talk about multiplayer modes, where working together in 5v5 battles will be key to victory. Two separate modes are detailed- Dogfights, which are pretty self-explanatory, and Fleet Battles, the game’s signature multiplayer mode. This will be a multi-stage mode that will see teams moving through stages of the match with shifting objectives, including taking down massive flagships.

You can get the full details in the trailer below.

Star Wars: Squadrons is out for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC on October 2, and will be playable entirely in VR on PS4 and PC. You can check out its PC requirements through here. It’s also been confirmed that the game won’t have any microtransactions or loot boxes.
