If the Slither wasn't enough, other horrors await in Arkham, and they're all too eager to take a bite out of Calvin Rafferty.

After a round of previews last month, Frogwares debuted a new trailer for The Sinking City 2, its next Lovecraftian adventure, at the Future Games Show Summer Showcase. A free demo for the title is available now on PC via Steam, but fortunately, you won’t have to wait long for the full game. It’s out on August 18th, and also coming to Xbox Series X/S and PS5.

The latest trailer showcases some of the horrors that Calvin Rafferty will encounter throughout 1920s Arkham. Besides the Slither, who reanimate corpses and attempt to “convert” you in the most gruesome way possible, there are also Deep Ones that pose a greater challenge. You may also happen upon Shadows, which defy description.

And unlike the first game, this is a proper survival horror, where conserving ammo, using the environment and running away are the key to survival. Not that Calvin won’t be solving any mysteries, though, especially since connecting clues in your journal can help unlock upgrades that will make life easier. They may even open new paths.

For more details on The Sinking City 2, you can check out our hands-on preview here, which details two missions, including one in the early game. You can also check out this developer diary for more information on investigations.

A Steam launch could open the doors for a wider player pool, especially for fans of the first two mainline looter shooters.

How the time has flown. It feels like The Division Resurgence was out just yesterday, but it’s been around two months since the lot of you got the chance to join the SHD’s Agents and protect New York City from a new threat.

Well, you’re going to see more friendly faces on its chaotic streets as the game is prepping to launch on Steam in the near future, with wishlists already open for those who are enthusiastic enough to join in. It’s been quite entertaining taking on waves of enemies with the game’s cover-based shooting and a customization system that offers scope for some truly unique looks and a lot of player freedom.

Granted, you could technically play it on your PC via the Ubisoft Store. However, Resurgence’s Steam launch is definitely good news for a title that needs more Agents joining the fray. If nothing else, it ensures more assistance during matchmade and endgame activities (though it also means the Dark Zone will be a lot more dangerous).

The announcement has come via a pretty intense trailer that we’ve showcased below if you and your buddies are looking for a new shooter to team up in. As for The Division 3, it’s slowly making progress, if a new mass hiring spree by Ubisoft is any indication.

Those dinosaurs look real nasty, and we can’t wait to pit our meagre skills against them when this one drops sometime next year.

You might be forgiven if you’ve forgotten about Annapurna and Great Ape’s The Lost Wild after its announcement nearly four years ago. You’d also be forgiven for thinking this was a very intense take on Jurassic Park.

It’s a nay on the latter, but the good news is that the game’s now making its way to the PS5, with a new trailer showcased at the recent State of Play.

And what a trailer it is. It begins as any encounter with dinosaurs left to run free in their natural habitat would, with one attacking potential protagonists, crashing into their car as they take a leisurely ride through a beautifully rendered forest. Well, what follows is a showcase of a gameplay loop in which you’re the prey and need to keep your wits about you as you navigate the world. This is a game about patience, restraint, and carefully considered actions, all of which you’re going to need if you don’t want to end up as a dinosaur’s next meal.

The developers are touting this one as a subversion of modern gaming’s tried and tested power fantasy, and we’re more than inclined to agree. You’d probably feel the same way after you watch the new trailer.

Gabe Newell went on to deny the existence of an "unwritten rule" that prevents developers from selling their games at lower prices elsewhere.

Details have emerged about Valve boss Gabe Newell’s testimony from 2023 as part of a 2021 lawsuit filed by Wolfire Games alleging that the company had breached antitrust laws. According to Bloomberg, Newell spoke about PC gaming customers having “enormous choice” when it comes to deciding where they want to buy their games from. Along with this, he also denied the idea that there was an “unwritten rule” forbidding developers from selling games at lower prices through other stores.

“Customers have enormous choice, whether they buy the game on an Xbox, whether they buy it on Steam, whether they buy it on Epic Games Store or whether they buy it directly from software developers,” said Newell in his testimony.

As for the supposed “unwritten rule,” Newell denied its existence. Interestingly, he kept denying it even when he was shown communications that indicated that there were employees at Valve that attempted to enforce such a rule. He said, “Valve does not have a policy or practice of dictating prices to third-party software developers on other platforms.”

“Many of our partners and many of our customers are quite happy with the service that we’re providing,” he responded when asked how his company would react if such a rule were to be put in place.

Wolfire Games had filed its lawsuit against Valve as part of its attempts to represent game developers. In a statement from back in 2021, studio CEO David Rosen had alleged that Valve’s conduct and practices had harmed gamers and developers. This decision was made due to the studio’s desire to try and sell its 2017 title Overgrowth at a discounted rate on “new video game stores” that “charged much lower commissions than Valve.”

“But when I asked Valve about this plan, they replied that they would remove Overgrowth from Steam if I allowed it to be sold at a lower price anywhere, even from my own website without Steam keys and without Steam’s DRM,” he wrote. “This would make it impossible for me, or any game developer, to determine whether or not Steam is earning their commission. I believe that other developers who charged lower prices on other stores have been contacted by Valve, telling them that their games will be removed from Steam if they did not raise their prices on competing stores.”

Rosen explained that the crux of his lawsuit came down to the fact that Valve’s Steam was seen by many in the industry as an outright monopoly since, despite the presence of other stores like Epic Games Store, Steam had the majority of the user base, and missing a release on the platform would mean that a studio would have to give up on the majority of its potential sales.

He wrapped up his announcement by stating his belief that this was the main reason behind competing stores never succeeding as much as Valve has.

It is worth noting that there is likely some level of truth to Rosen’s allegations, at least when it comes to Valve’s dominant position in the market. However, as many Steam users will also point out, it tends to be their preferred platform to buy and play games on due to the fact that other stores, like the Epic Games Store, tend to be quite underbaked when it comes to features.

After becoming the biggest ever launch by XBOX on Steam, Playground Games' open-world racer racks up some impressive player numbers.

Playground Games has announced that Forza Horizon 6 has, appropriately enough, crossed six million players. The open-world racing sim entered advanced access for Premium Edition owners on May 15th and went live for Standard Edition owners and Game Pass subscribers on May 22nd.

Compare this to Forza Horizon 5, which entered early access on November 5th, 2021, and crossed ten million players on November 19th. Its successor is likely to surpass that total within the same time frame, especially after the extremely positive word-of-mouth from players and critical reviews. The fact that it’s topped the Steam top 100 selling games chart, beating out the cheaper Subnautica 2, probably doesn’t hurt either.

All of this sets up Forza Horizon 6 to sell gangbusters when it launches on PS5 later this year. Neither XBOX nor Playground have indicated when that will be, but you would have to think September or October, if only to avoid conflicting with its other first-party titles. And it’s unlikely to want to compete with Grand Theft Auto 6 in November.

We’ll have to wait and find out. In the meantime, check out our review for Forza Horizon 6, where we gave it a nine out of ten.

Learn to use the controls in Forza Horizon 6’s Photo Mode and earn Points for rewards in Horizon Festival and Discover Japan with this guide.

Sections of both the Horizon Festival and the Discover Japan points systems in Forza Horizon 6’s Campaign Collection Journal depend heavily on use of the in-game Photo Mode. The benefits of duly completing tasks and earning these points come in the form of a variety of redeemable rewards.

This Forza Horizon 6 guide is all about mastering the in-game photography mode, in order to earn both Discover Japan Points and Horizon Festival Points.

Forza Horizon 6 Photo Mode Controls

Accessing the Photo Mode on a controller is as simple as pressing up on the D-pad, or ‘P’ on a keyboard.

Within Photo Mode you will find almost all functionality helpfully displayed as an array of button prompts at the bottom of the screen, based on your platform of choice.

Directionality and rotation is handled by the left and right thumbsticks on a controller, or the WASD and arrow keys on a keyboard.

Shortened keyboards that lack arrow keys can try the FN key + IJKL for camera rotation.

Controller triggers handle altitude or height, while that functionality is bound to the Page Up and Page Down keys on a keyboard.

Zooming on controllers is accomplished by clicking-in the thumbsticks, or Z and C on keyboards.

Mouse camera control appears to be bugged or simply unsupported at this time.

While you can spend hours experimenting with the Effects Mode, two notable settings are Shutter Speed and Focus: if you find that your photos are consistently blurry, tweak them lower till you find the right number. If all else fails, simply Reset to Default using the relevant button prompt on your platform.

Once you find a good setting that you are satisfied with, be sure to retain it as a preset.

Earning Points From Photo Mode

Almost instantly after taking a photo, you will see a screen listing anything new in your shot that contributes towards either major group in the Collection Journal, as separate columns. If nothing relevant was captured you will see ‘Nothing new in shot’ or ‘No new cars in shot’ as applicable. At the bottom of the screen are the nearest goals for either group, and the points required to unlock them.

The Discover Japan Photography milestones revolve entirely around photographing landmarks for 100 points apiece. This is relatively easy to accomplish as the locations are clearly stated and there are only 26 to find as of now.

The Horizon Festival’s Horizon Promo is far more involved, as it requires photographing 619 cars in the game currently for 10 points apiece. This will be quite a task to accomplish, but one simple tip you can make use of is to photograph the starting grid of any and every race you participate in, as the selection of vehicles will tend to be quite diverse, whether AI or real players. Be sure to make use of the Quickshot button prompt to avoid getting bogged down in additional menus and messing up your launch.

Also photograph any secret or dynamic cars that you stumble upon in the world, even if you cannot afford them.

That is everything there is to know about using Photo Mode and earning Points for Horizon Festival and Discover Japan milestones in the Collection Journal of Forza Horizon 6.

Select your starting vehicles wisely with this rundown on the best cars to rely upon in Forza Horizon 6’s early game.

With over 600 cars at launch, Forza Horizon 6 will have you spoilt for choice at every stage of your driving career. Be they Auctions or Auto Shows, Barn Finds or Treasure Cars, or even vehicles limited to certain editions of the game, you will have a seemingly endless selection of cars at your disposal.

This Forza Horizon 6 guide is a shortlist of the cars to choose in the early to mid game for quick and steady progression. You will retain all three starting cars in your collection, regardless of your choice. It is simply a matter of which car you drive immediately after making a selection, and beyond that point you can take the remaining two for a spin.

1994 Toyota Celica GT-Four ST205

The obvious choice from the selection of starting vehicles, the 1994 Toyota Celica GT-Four ST205 falls short only slightly in Braking, and is second best at Offroad. Its ability to handle races with sharp turns falls entirely on your skill level, but will otherwise excel at flatout racing.

Any deficiencies you experience in Offroad performance with the other starter cars can be easily addressed with this monster and some Rally Tires early in the game.

Playground Games' open-world racer surpasses Halo Infinite to earn the highest peak concurrent player count for the publisher on Steam.

More than doubling the lifetime peak of Forza Horizon 5 on Steam during advanced access? Rookie numbers for Forza Horizon 6, which surpassed 273,000 concurrent players on the platform following the Standard Edition’s launch.

That’s impressive enough, but it’s also the biggest Xbox Game Studios launch on Steam, beating out the previous record holder, Halo Infinite (272,148). Keep in mind that the latter was for multiplayer, which was free-to-play. The next best is Halo: The Master Chief Collection (161,024), and to say that Playground Games’ latest completely outclasses its player count would be an understatement.

Of course, this is only on Steam. Forza Horizon 6 is also available for PC via the Microsoft Store and Game Pass, so expect the number of players to skyrocket in the coming days, especially when accounting for Xbox Series X/S. Thus far, advanced access has seen more than one million players according to the in-game leaderboards.

Check out our review for Forza Horizon 6, where we awarded it a nine out of ten. As the first entry in the series to venture to Japan, it focuses on the player as a tourist who races their way to the top of the Horizon Festival while discovering the country’s culture. To say that it succeeds on both fronts would be an understatement – check out our graphical analysis for more details.

Playground Games' latest is currently only available in advanced access, but it's garnered nearly 169,000 concurrent players on Steam.

If being the second-best-selling title on Steam wasn’t enough, Forza Horizon 6 has already surpassed its predecessor on the platform. According to SteamDB, it’s currently at 168,190 concurrent players, which is more than double that of Forza Horizon 5’s lifetime peak (81,096).

The real kicker? The open-world racing sim is currently in advanced access. Only those who bought the Premium Edition for an eye-watering $119.99 on Steam are currently playing. Of course, Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers can purchase the Premium Edition Upgrade for early access as well, so player counts should be much higher overall.

Regardless, this is an excellent start for Forza Horizon 6, which has already earned extensive acclaim from critics before launch. It’s currently the highest-rated game on Metacritic for 2026 with a 92 Metascore based on 65 reviews on Xbox Series X/S. Then again, considering how well Forza Horizon 5 was received, earning the same Metascore from 103 reviews, it’s probably expected.

As for when Standard Edition/non-Premium Upgrade Game Pass subscribers can start playing, Forza Horizon 6 launches on May 19th for Xbox Series X/S and PC at 9:01 PM PT. Check out our thoughts on it here – we gave it a nine out of ten, and praised just about every single aspect.

Pearl Abyss's open-world action-adventure has also allegedly done well, with almost two million sold on Steam last month.

While Crimson Desert was arguably more anticipated in March, Slay the Spire 2 seemingly stole its thunder, at least when it comes to Steam sales. Alinea Analytics’ Rhy Elliott estimates that it sold 5.3 million copies, generating $108 million in revenue and becoming the top-selling game on the platform for the month.

It’s even more ridiculous when you consider its predecessor hit 1.5 million sales about two months after release (that too after spending nearly two years in early access). Which isn’t to say that Crimson Desert struggled, despite a spectrum of reviews and a “Mixed” rating at launch. It reportedly sold almost two million copies on Steam last month, with Elliott previously alleging that it crossed $200 million revenue across all platforms.

As for Resident Evil Requiem, it reportedly sold 1.2 million copies in March, resulting in $70 million in revenue (with total sales on Steam now seemingly at 2.9 million). Capcom confirmed over two weeks after launch that the survival horror sequel had sold over six million copies, but it wouldn’t be surprising if that total is even higher now.

Nevertheless, with Pragmata out in the coming weeks, the company could be gearing up for another smash hit on Steam. It’s available on April 30th and also coming to Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2, after recently going gold.

To date, it has generated $108 million on Steam alone. All this is to say that Slay the Spire 2 easily… pic.twitter.com/27hTyalLaN
— Rhys Elliott (@superhys) April 3, 2026
