It's the follow up to SteamWorld Dig.

SteamWorld Dig was incredible. It was extremely cheap, and it was a hell of an indie game, presenting a unique brand of sidescrolling action. Today, the developers at Image & Form have announced the follow up to that game. It’s called SteamWorld Heist, and the developers seem to be pretty excited about it.

“It’ll be full of surprises and probably the best game ever,” says Brjann Sigurgeirsson, exhibiting an incredible amount of modesty.

“Heist isn’t a sequel to SteamWorld Dig,” says CEO Brjann Sigurgeirsson. “It’s set in the same world and the cowbots are still the heroes. But a lot has happened to SteamWorld since then, and we want to make a game that is radically different. Partly because we really wanted to make a turn-based strategy game, but also because it felt like a clever move. The obvious follow-up would’ve been Dig 2; we wanted to surprise instead.”

SteamWorld Heist is due to release in Spring 2015; no platforms or pricing details have been announced.

Critically acclaimed platformer making its way to the PlayStation.

The critically acclaimed 3DS platformer SteamWorld Dig will be making its way to the PS4 and the PS Vita, developer Image & Form has announced, making it the first time that the game appears on a home console.

“We are thrilled to present SteamWorld Dig to the PlayStation community,” said Brjann Sigurgeirsson, the boss of developers Image & Form. “This is our first release ever on a stationary console, and a long-standing dream of ours. So many PlayStation gamers have asked us to bring the game to their hardware, and we can’t wait to join the community both on PS4 and Vita.”

SteamWorld Dig will cost PS4 and PS Vita users €8.99/$9.99 when it releases in March.

SteamWorld Dig was critically acclaimed by one and all when it first came out as an exclusive for the 3DS eShop. PS4 and PS Vita users are definitely getting a game that’s well worth their money.

Stay tuned for more info.

And it seems to have caused the end of the world.

Users have spotted a hilarious reference to Half Life 3 in Image & Form’s SteamWorld Dig, and honestly, it’s quite funny. The world has ended in-game and you’ll come across a GameGo retail store which advertises Half Life 3.

This is complete with a crow-bar, the familiar lambda symbol, an older looking Gordon Freeman and a word on the banner says “Soon…” You can also spot several fans, who have obviously been waiting in front of the store and apparently died in the process.

Some guy was so happy with the revelation that he actually dressed up in Freeman’s suit. And now he’s dead.

It’s been reported that this particular reference appears in the PC version only, which will be releasing tomorrow (SteamWorld Dig is currently available for the 3DS). Hilarious reference overall or just plain mockery of those who still have hope? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
