He is survived by his wife, Laurene and four children. Jobs was a computer pioneer, helping to establish Silicon Valley as the technological capital of the world as well as marketing what is considered the first personal computer, the Apple II, via the famous company he founded with his childhood friend Steve Wozniak.

Apple released a press statement paying tribute: “Steve’s brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives … The world is immeasurably better because of Steve.” Jobs leaves behind an estimated $8.3bn, though he himself was often dismissive of other’s interest in his wealth: “Being the richest man in the cemetery doesn’t matter to me … Going to bed at night saying we’ve done something wonderful … that’s what matters to me.”

ED Fries, a former Xbox exec has revealed to Develop that Apple CEO, Steve Jobs was mad about Microsoft buying out Bungie and had made an angry phone call to Microsoft’s chief Steve Balmer back in 2000, when Bungie was bought out.

“As soon as we announced we bought Bungie, Steve Jobs called,” Fries said.

“He was mad at [Microsoft CEO Steve] Ballmer and phoned him up and was angry because we’d just bought the premier Mac game developer and made them an Xbox developer.”

Fries was tasked with pacifying Jobs

“So, during the day, I got an email from Steve Ballmer asking me to phone Steve Jobs and calm him down about the whole thing,” he said.

“Anyway, we did this deal with Apple where we’d port some PC games to the Macintosh and help Peter Tamte create this company to do it, and I had to go to a Mac developer conference and get on stage and talk about this whole new partnership. It was a pretty strange time.”

Looks like, Jobs doesn’t take too kindly to someone else having a bite of his “Apples”.
