Watch Dogs Legion on PS4 and PS5 is also worth trying out, as are Dishonored 2 and Dishonored: Death of the Outsider, even if they’re PS4-only. Marvelous’s Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin on PS4 is also a good addition, providing farming and side-scrolling hack-and-slash action. Other PS4 farming titles include Rune Factory 4 Special and Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town.

The latter allows downloading the game and its Expansion Pass Set or streaming the base experience. Fans of Tomb Raider can experience the entire modern trilogy with Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration and Shadow of the Tomb Raider playable on PS4.

Those who want some horror can check out The Evil Within 2 on PS4 and the action RPG Thymesia on PS5. There’s also Bus Simulator 21: Next Stop on PS4 and PS5, which is its own horror when things go wrong. Wolfenstein: Youngblood, Rain World, and Conan Exiles round out the PS4 offerings, while Lake and Soundfall are playable on PS4 and PS5. Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town was originally a GBA game released in 2003, but this version has seen considerable upgrades to both its graphics and systems. According to the publisher, “Newcomers to the series will discover the compelling farming gameplay and complex characters that made this series the standard in the genre, and veterans will be able to enjoy a return to a wonderful world with updated systems, character designs, and a completely new translation.”

In addition to the game’s detailed farming simulation, players will be able to explore Mineral Town and the surrounding environments, build relationships with the town’s inhabitants, and enjoy content unique to the seasons of the year.

Marvelous is a company whose name you don’t hear a whole lot, but ultimately fill a pretty specific niche of titles for those looking for things with a certain Japanese flavor. So, that should come to no surprise that the company is reporting success on Nintendo’s hybrid, the Switch, due to its portable nature.

In their latest shared financial report, Marvelous highlighted that their business, which includes their games sales from PC to mobile to console, was up around the board even though their overall income saw a slight dip. They highlighted their Switch releases, specifically Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town, Rune Factory 4 Special and Daemon X Machina, all of which were said to have done very well on the system. Unfortunately, they didn’t do quite well enough for Marvelous to provide sales numbers, but we’ll take their word for it.

For the remainder of the fiscal year that runs to March 31st 2021 they are looking to launch Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town in the west, as well as releases of Rune Factory 5 and Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin sometime by the end of 2020 in Japan.

Yesterday, Marvelous revealed that it was remaking Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town and More Friends of Mineral Town for the Nintendo Switch. Originally released for the Game Boy Advance, both titles would be collected into a single Story of Seasons game. Now, Marvelous has confirmed that XSEED Games will release Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town for Switch in North America.

A new trailer was also released, showcasing the game’s revamped visuals and gameplay in action. Some details have already been revealed like how characters such as Karen, Rick, Cliff and Popuri would be returning. New characters will also be introduced and players can create either a male or female character.

Development seems to be progressing smoothly – the game is reportedly 85 percent completed. How long it will take to be localized and when it will release is unknown. Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town releases on October 17th for Switch in Japan so stay tuned for more details.
