Digital Foundry gives out their verdict.

Straight of the bat I’m going to say this is doomed to failure in my eyes. Read on and make up your own mind on this decidedly niche product. Nvidia, creators of some of the finest, if not the finest, gaming hardware and software that you can actually get your hands on have announced their on demand gaming service.

Going by the name of GRID, Nvidia are calling the streaming system the “Netfilx of Games,”. You see, that sounds really nice doesn’t it? But GRID only streams to SHIELD Devices, so I think they may have gotten their marketing ideas wrong. Netflix, after all runs on practically anything, possibly even LEGO bricks, not just on a £239.99 device.

This, like the SHIELD is probably doomed to failure but Digital Foundry have said that despite running on a “lackluster internet connection”, the GRID demo still “came across as the best cloud gaming experience we’ve tested to date.”

All I really want to say is, stop while the race hasn’t started, bail out Nvidia and pretend you never had this idea. It will save you a great deal of embarrassment.

Though expected to land up tomorrow, Twitch Streaming is apparently now live on the Xbox One. The app has now been updated and with the recent March system update, you’ll be able to stream gameplay from your console online.

There’s plenty of things you’ll need to set up beforehand though. Xbox Wire provides all the necessary details for properly enabling live-streaming including how to adjust various privacy options, enabling Kinect and more. Once everything has been set up, just say “Xbox, broadcast” and you’ll be able to stream gameplay on the fly.

Considering that Titanfall has just released in North America, the addition of Twitch streaming means that players will be able to stream their multiplayer exploits from the Xbox One online. Are you happy that the Xbox One has finally received Twitch streaming? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below along with your thoughts on Respawn Entertainment’s Titanfall.

DotA 2 is slowly transitioning into launch mode sometime before August 7th. As the game gets closer to release, Valve has added Twitch linking to Steam.

Twitch users can now link their accounts to Steam and DotA 2 is the first game that will take advantage of this feature due to its competitive nature. In DotA 2 players will now be able to watch tournaments and still receive tournament item drops while watching the game, which previously wasn’t allowed.

This is a fantastic feature for those who love watching the competition via Twitch. Once you link your Twitch account with DotA 2 you will now be able to benefit from watching tournaments and still receive in-game goodies.

Valve has said that more features to Twitch + Steam will be added, including more games that will take advantage of it.

Let us know if you enjoy watching DotA 2 tournaments, in the comments section below.

Stay tuned to GamingBolt.com for more news and updates.

Gaijin Entertainment has announced that their upcoming next-generation MMO combat game War Thunder for PlayStation 4 will feature built-in live streaming via Twitch in the game itself. As of patch 3.1 players can now use the live-streaming capability thanks to the partnership between Gaijin Entertainment and Twitch on the PC version.

This is what Gaijin Entertainment had to say regarding the partnership with Twitch:

“Working with Twitch is a very important step in War Thunder’s social campaign, »said Gaijin Entertainment CEO Anton Yudintsev. “Streaming War Thunder is very common among our community, so by adding live streaming functionality to Twitch with the touch of a button it will make this element of the game even more popular.”

It seems that live-streaming is becoming more and more popular, and even Xbox One features twitch as their main partner for streaming enthusiasts. The PlayStation 4 is partnered up with U Stream instead.

Let us know if you like streaming in the comments below.

Microsoft reveals streaming partner and functions.

At their E3 conference today, Microsoft confirmed that all of their games can be shared and streamed online via their ‘Game DVR’ feature; however, today they also went a bit more in depth with the ins and outs of the process, and revealed that the sharing and streaming is done via Twitch.

Of course, Microsoft, who demoed the feature while showing off the new Killer Instinct, couldn’t refrain from what was probably nothing more than hyperbole: “Xbox Live users on Xbox One will be able to “participate and impact the game” through Twitch.”

As with all features worth anything on an Xbox, Twitch will be exclusive to Xbox Live Gold users only (which implicitly confirms that there will be tiers of the service again). Users will be able to use Kinect to preview and edit their videos, and also to provide commentary.

Stay tuned to Gamingbolt.com for more E3 coverage as it comes.

Here’s a good way that Sony can compete with Microsoft over streaming services: EPIX has recently announced that it will be releasing an app for the PS3 and Vita this year. EPIX describes itself “the big new movie channel that’s more than just a big new movie channel.”

While the success of the service will depend on it’s service, it does have the potential for quite a lot being a cable channel packing content from Paramount, Lionsgate and MGM. Players will be able to check out on-demand movies and shows. You will need a prior subscription however, via your cable provider or it won’t work.

Playstation 3 gamers can look forward to the app arriving in the first quarter of 2013, with a Playstation Vita-geared version to arrive sometime in Spring. Till then, resume your regular schedule of Netflix and other assorted services. Like games. Remember when consoles were just for playing games? Ah, the good ol’ days.

Breaking new ground, Killzone 3 will completely bypass loading screens.

It’s amazing what technology can do these days- 10 years ago, we expected to have to wait a few minutes before launching your favourite game. But the latest generation of games is giving a firm middle finger to loading screens altogether.

From Uncharted 2’s hidden loading screens, disguised by a cutscene, to Fifa’s letting-you-take-pot-shots-while-you-wait, games nowadays are trying hard to make sure you stay engaged.

Killzone 3 is looking to take it one step further. The game will be entirely streamed, as confirmed by Herman Hulst, the managing director at Sony’s first party studio, Guerilla Games.

“We’re excited what the PS3 can do for us and what we can do for it… (speaking of loading screens), literally everything is streamed now”.

This contrasts heavily with the lengthy waits found in Killzone 2- up to 30 seconds for a single player level load and even more when taking the fight online.

But this new technological leap can only be a good thing, as developers now have the ability to keep you firmly in the action at all times.
