Right now anyone and everyone wants to know the exact date on when to expect the July Microsoft show that’s rumored to be sometime around the week of July 20th. But it seems Microsoft has seen fit to drop details on another event seemingly out of nowhere on us, the Xbox Summer Game Fest.

The Summer Game Fest has been a loose collection of shows that has been part of a concentrated effort to effectively replace the cancelled E3 show this year. Microsoft seems to want in on this and announced their own spin on the event. It doesn’t seem to be about unveiling games, though, as much as showing them off. The Xbox Summer Game Fest will see over 60 brand new game demos of titles in various states, from those in the very early stages to those that will be out soon. There is no list as of yet, but some of the games highlighted include Cris Tales, Destroy All Humans!, Haven, Hellpoint, and Skatebird. It’s said there will be somewhere between 75-100 games features in some capacity.

The Xbox Summer Game Fest will run from July 21st to 26th. It’s unclear if this will also be available in some form on PC, as only the Xbox One is referenced. We’ll keep you updated as more details come out.

Amid all the digital events taking place in the coming months, not to mention Microsoft’s Inside Xbox tomorrow that showcases Xbox Series X gameplay, there’s the Summer Game Fest 2020. Revealed by The Game Awards creator Geoff Keighley, the Summer Game Fest will run for four months with playable demos, teasers and big reveals. One of them seems to be coming on May 12th.

In an early schedule that was recently released, Keighley notes tomorrow’s Inside Xbox taking place at 8 AM PT. On May 12th at 9 AM PT, there will be a “surprise game reveal”. What could it be? Given the number of publishers involved with the Summer Game Fest, your guess is as good as ours.

Other upcoming events include the The Steam Festival: Summer Edition on June 9th to 14th; Cyberpunk 2077’s Night City Wire on June 11th; and EA Play Live 2020 on June 11th. July 11th will see Warframe’s TennoCon 2020 taking place. And of course, there’s Gamescom 2020: Opening Night Live on August 24th which Keighley will host to cap off the festival. Expect more events and reveals to be added to the schedule over the coming months.

The Game Awards creator Geoff Keighley has quite a bit on his plate already, what with Gamescom 2020: Opening Night Live and the Steam Game Festival: Summer Edition coming up. Nevertheless, he’s announced the Summer Game Fest 2020. Starting this month and ending in August, it will provide “a season of digital video game events from publishers, select playable content, in-game events, and more.”

What this means is that players can expect updates and announcements from the likes of 2K Games, Blizzard Entertainment, CD Projekt RED, Electronic Arts, Private Division, Riot Games, Sony, Square Enix and much more. Some names like Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment are interesting, given the rumors about the next Batman game. Microsoft will also be part of this initiative with more information coming next week.

Interestingly, there will be even more publishers announced as time goes by. Streaming on Twitch, Mixer, YouTube and so on, there will be pre and post shows for different publisher events hosted by Keighley. “In these uncertain and challenging times, it’s more important than ever that video games serve as a common and virtual connection point between us all. Summer Game Fest is an organizing principle that promises fans a whole season of video game news and other surprises from the comfort of home,” he stated recently.

Along with the Steam Game Festival: Summer Edition providing free demos to try out, there will be limited time demos and other trials available for Xbox and “other platforms.” The Summer Game Fest will start sometime this month and conclude on August 24th at Gamescom.
