While the Sonic Generations portion features everything players loved about the 2011 classic, Shadow’s campaign is a standalone tale. Players will embark on a new story that sees the Ultimate Life Form battling the returning Black Doom and taking on foes like Doom’s Eye and the Biolizard. Of course, he can also unlock some new abilities.

What kinds of new abilities? Well, he gets some black wings with spikes. It’s edgy, for sure, and certainly in keeping with Shadow’s identity. For those who want to experience the original campaign, ping-ponging back and forth between Classic and Modern Sonic, it’s also looking pretty snazzy. Stay tuned for details and gameplay before its launch.

Like DON’T NOD’s Jusant, players will scale extensive structures, surmounting rock faces bit by bit. Placing notches and slowly making progress is the name of the game, with one mistake potentially setting back progress. It aims to be an intense experience with seemingly slower progress. Even as large mountains loom in the distance, it all begins with the first few climbs.

Cairn lacks a release date or platforms, and The Game Bakers didn’t reveal when we could expect more details. Nevertheless, given its commitment to making new experiences, it should be interesting to see how it pans out (especially with its narrative, given the studio’s pedigree with Haven and Furi). As a pirate leader who last appeared in The King of Fighters 15, Jenet seemingly possesses many of the same abilities, like juggling opponents into the air with multiple kicks. Vox Reaper is more intriguing since his fighting style appears more grounded and strike-based. Expect more details and extensive looks at their kits shortly.

On top of new and returning fighters, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves also features mini-games. The tail-end of the trailer sees Marco Rodrigues chopping off the tops of beer bottles in one fluid motion, with the commands matching that of a Special move.

Whether we can expect more of these remains to be seen, but stay tuned for more updates before the fighting game’s launch in early 2025 for Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 and PC.

Batman: Arkham Shadow will see the Batman going up against the Rat King, as the villain and his followers pose a new threat to Gotham City. The trailer sets up said conflict, while also offering glimpses of some other key characters (such as Commissioner Gordon).

Described as an “immersive, full-length entry in the Arkham franchise”, the game will also feature appearances from other iconic characters such as Harley Quinn, Scarecrow, and more. It’s set two years after the events of Arkham Origins, which means it serves as another prequel to the mainline Arkham trilogy. Gameplay footage has yet to be unveiled.

From protagonist Kay Vess navigating various planets like Tattooine to shooting up enemies in space and even sitting down to play Sabacc with Lando Calrissian, there’s much to glean. Of course, the ultimate goal for players is to commit a heist unlike anything seen in the Outer Rim. They’ll work with different factions to achieve their goals, though getting on their bad side can have consequences.

Thus far, the line-up is looking pretty impressive. 2K Games confirmed it would reveal a new title in one of its “biggest and most beloved franchises” (rumored to be Mafia 4). Palworld developer Pocketpair will announce some “long-awaited features” while Alan Wake 2’s first expansion, Night Springs, could be revealed. Studio Zero’s Metaphor: ReFantazio is also confirmed alongside Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO.

Meanwhile, Monster Hunter Wilds will debut a new trailer for a never-before-seen monster. On top of all this, leaker Midori claimed that Sony Interactive Entertainment would have more first-party announcements. Ghost of Tsushima 2, perhaps? We can certainly hope. The announcement will reportedly offer a gameplay preview and some playable characters. It follows billbil-kun’s report from January about it being “heavily inspired” by Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy series. Interestingly, they’re unsure if the announcement will occur at Sony’s alleged showcase or during Summer Game Fest.

A cinematic trailer could drop during the former, with gameplay revealed during the latter on June 7th. Time will tell, so stay tuned for updates.

Concord is coming to PS5 and PC, with Sony recently reaffirming a release in 2024. Game director Ryan Ellis touted it as offering a “unique universe of vibrant worlds” and a “rich cast of colorful characters” last year. Head here for more details.

The upcoming Summer update will likely receive new details and gameplay, showcasing more of the new island, Pal species and weapons. However, Pocketpair could also go more in-depth with the Arena update, which adds 3v3 battles against other players when it goes live later this year. It could also announce a release on platforms like PS4 and PS5 since it was “in talks” for the same last March.

It is worth noting that, since this is only the first round of partners revealed for Summer Games Fest 2024, there will undoubtedly be more studios and publishers announced for the event later.

As for the event itself, we can expect a wide range of titles, from triple-A releases from 2K Games and PlayStation, to indie titles from Annapurna Interactive and Take-Two’s Private Division label. 2K Games has been among the first companies to announce that a new title in one of its “biggest and most beloved franchises” will be shown off at the event.

Oculus Studios has announced Batman: Arkham Shadow in partnership with WB Games. A new instalment in the acclaimed Rocksteady Studios-developed franchise, Arkham Shadow has been announced exclusively for Meta Quest 3. A brief announcement trailer suggests that Batman will be going up against the Ratcatcher this time, with the Caped Crusader shown to be squaring off against a horde of rats. Check it out below.

Other details on the game – such as when exactly in the Arkham timeline it will be placed, or what we can expect from its combat, stealth, world design, and the like – are currently scant. It has been confirmed, however, that a full reveal for the game will be coming at Summer Game Fest 2024 on June 7.

Batman: Arkham Shadow is being developed by Camouflaj, the studio behind 2020’s Marvel’s Iron Man VR. Camouflaj was acquired by Meta back in 2022, and around the same time, reports claimed that the studio was working on a VR Batman title.
