The games are currently free to claim on the service, and an active Amazon Prime subscription is required to claim them. Apart from the above, subscribers can also claim rewards in other games, such as a Prime Gaming capsule for League of Legends, virtual items for Roblox, and more.

In its interim financial report for January to March 2021, Paradox Interactive revealed an interesting stat for Surviving Mars. The colony builder, which first released in 2018 for PC, Xbox One and PS4, hit five million unique players. It also reiterated plans to showcase new content being developed by Abstraction Games with “several content releases” planned in the coming year.

Paradox also sees “great opportunities” in the game becoming part of its “core portfolio.” Such is the company’s focus that it revealed the cancellation of further development on two unannounced titles from other external studios. Originally, development for Surviving Mars was handled by Haemimont Games which released the last expansion Green Planet.

However, in March 2021, Paradox would restart development under Abstraction Games and confirmed that a fully-featured expansion was in development. Free content like the Tourist Update which adds new buildings like Hotels and Holiday Experience ratings. The developer also recently released the In-Dome Buildings Pack, developed in collaboration with a community modder named Silva, that brought eight new buildings and other options for housing to the game.

The year is fresh and new once again, and it’s time for new games, and there are so many different services nowadays for all the players out there. One of those is PlayStation Now, Sony’s original streaming service that can sometimes go a bit under the radar. But there’s lots of titles there, and today we have three more.

The Crew 2, Ubisoft’s acclaimed racing title, is the headline game as you race against land, air and sea with a variety of vehicles from cars to bikes to boats. Next up is Surviving Mars, where you must build a sustainable and comfortable colonization on the red planet. On the opposite end is Frostpunk: Console Edition, where it’s not about comfort but surviving the extreme cool and try to maintain a steam-fueled city among a narrative of corruption.

Another week has turned over, which means it’s another week of some free games for PC players on the Epic Games Store. This week we see Surviving Mars, a colony simulation game that challenges you to, you guessed it, survive the harsh environment of Mars.

The game tasks you with building a colony on mars, but it won’t be easy. As the title implies, it’s all about doing everything you can to maximize your survival, as you must micromanage the citizens of your colony.

Next week will dare you to survive in two different ways with a pair of survival horror titles. First is Alan Wake’s American Nightmare, a spinoff/sequel to Alan Wake where you must fight waves of ravenous enemies. Second is Observer, a much different title where you find yourself defenseless in a terrifying futuristic world, as you are being watched and must escape through various horrors.

Surviving Mars is free from now until October 17th on Epic Games Store, and then Alan Wake’s American Nightmare and Observer will take its place.

The newest free game is now available on the Epic Games Store, and it’s Devolver Digital’s Minit. As an overhead action adventure game, similar to old-school Zelda titles, it focuses on 60 second playthroughs as you unravel the world’s mysteries. Minit will be free until October 10th for PC, so grab it quick from Epic’s store.

Next week’s offering will interest city-builders – it’s Haemimont Games’ Surviving Mars. It sees players traveling to Mars, establishing a colony, and doing everything possible to advance their society. Rival colonies will sprout up, and you can either work with them or trudge on alone.

We’ve had a string of months where some excellent titles have been added to the Xbox Game Pass catalog, with both March and April seeing some strong games joining its ever-growing library. May is looking similarly exciting, and offers a number of great games. Of the eight games being added, the most notable is Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus, which is probably among the best stories and single player campaigns you’ll find in a first person shooter.

Chucklefish’s recently released turn based strategy title Wargroove also joins Game Pass. With solid gameplay, a decent campaign, and excellent creation tools, it’s a great game regardless, but at the price of free, it’s an absolute steal. Also part of the new games is Fullbright’s excellent science fiction adventure title Tacoma, while Paradox Interactive’s unique simulation game Surviving Mars joins the library as well.

Deck13’s Soulslike sci-fi title The Surge is also coming to Game Pass, while the recently released Xbox One version of the MMO Black Desert, Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham, and strategy RPG For the King are included as well.

Paradox Interactive has announced a new expansion for Surviving Mars, and it’s about going green. Green Planet will allow players to terraform the planet into a more habitable shade and effectively create a new home for humanity. Check out the announcement trailer below.

Terraforming is affected by one’s colony management and it’s possible to affect Atmosphere, Water, Temperature, and Vegetation. You can add various kinds of plants to the surface, including tress, lichen, shrubs, grass, and whatnot. Each has their own use – lichen improves soil quality while trees grant high seed yields – and effectively managing soil quality is also key.

Seven new Special Projects will also be added, like capturing ice asteroids and launching a mirror into space. These will help with Terraforming Parameters, but can also cause natural disasters. Fortunately, you’ll also have seven new buildings, like the Greenhouse Gas Factory, Forestation Plant, and more to help out.

A release date hasn’t been provided for Green Planet. The Steam page simply says that Mars will “change soon”. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime. Surviving Mars is currently available for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

The first major paid DLC for Haemimont’s Surviving Mars is now live, bringing the space race to denizens of the red planet. Focusing on rival colonies, Space Race introduces unique vehicles and buildings for sponsors, Japan and Brazil joining as new sponsors, and much more. The gist of the DLC is to compete with other colonies, controlled by the AI, and attempt to rule Mars. Though you can steal colonists from your rivals, there are also options for trading, putting out distress calls, and even answering calls for help. Depending on the sponsor chosen, players will have different goals to complete.

Retailing for $12.99, Space Race will also add some new narrative events to challenge players. Those who haven’t tried the base game (which has received numerous updates since launch) can currently try it out for free on Steam. It’s also discounted by 30 percent, while the Season Pass is discounted by 25 percent. The offer ends on November 21st, so act fast.

Cities Skylines

After what seemed like a long, long time, Cities Skylines arrived and delivered a city-building experience that truly succeeds old-school SimCity. The sheer joy of getting your city up and running, watching it buzz about as you beautify it, manifests excellently in Cities: Skylines. Throw in Steam Workshop support for mods, tons of support from the developer and plenty of content updates for even more long-term replay value.

Surviving Mars was a relatively new experience for Haemimont Games, as it branched out into space colonization, colony management, and narrative mysteries. Even if it was rough around the edges, the developer continued to support it, adding free content and other quality of life improvements. Some of the updates and free content include new buildings, new game rules, new Dome shapes, Creative Mode, Follow mode, tutorials, and so much more. Three new mysteries – The Philosopher’s Stone, St. Elmo’s Fire, and Metatron – were added for free. The “Beyond | Sagan” update also brought 24 new challenges, variety in maps, and challenge ratings.

If that weren’t enough, the next update, “Beyond | Gagarin”, promises new Sponsors overview and goals, random events, planetary view with Anomalies, Vistas and research sites, and much more. Surviving Mars will also receive its first paid DLC, Space Race sometime in the future. That adds new countries like Japan and Brazil, new sponsors, sponsor challenges, and competition against rival colonies.
