PR head Job Stauffer says to expect The Walking Dead again "sooner".

Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead will have its third season arrive some time in the future, which pretty much means there’s no set release date for it. Despite not being able to pin down a release, PR boss Job Stauffer did reveal at a recent SXSW Panel that fans could expect to see The Walking Dead again before Season 3 debuts.

Via Bloody Disgusting, Stauffer says that, “There will be a third season of The Walking Dead at some point. We don’t know when yet, but yes, that is a thing.

“Oh, man, I’m going to get an email about this,” he starts. “[The Walking Dead Season 3 is] not necessarily something you can expect to see super, super, super soon. But I think you can perhaps, maybe, expect to see The Walking Dead again sooner, if that makes sense. Does that make sense? I’ll let the Internet work on that one…next question.”

Could it be similar to the 400 Days DLC that premièred before Season 2? Stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks (or months) to find out.

Will be an "online and interactive" experience according to writer Robert Kirkman.

Overkill Software is working on a video game in The Walking Dead franchise and while a formal reveal is still to come, writer and creator Robert Kirkman spoke to an SXSW Panel about what to expect.

As reported by Polygon, Kirkman revealed that the project would be similar to Payday. “It will be Payday-esque. But I’m told it will be in a bigger world than Payday currently encompasses. They are going to be learning a lot of stuff from Payday that they will be incorporating into The Walking Dead game.”

Interestingly, it will be an “online and interactive” experience. “PayDay is an online cooperative game correct? Yes. So it will follow a similar approach. That’s good news.”

The question remains as to how exactly that will work out but Kirkman promises that “there will be announcements about that game very soon”. Stay tuned for more information on the same and let us know what you hope to see in Overkill’s The Walking Dead.

The VR headset still doesn't have a release date but things are going great for Oculus.

Oculus Rift, or what was supposed to be the first commercial VR headset before competitors like Sony, HTC and Samsung got in on the act, is still without a release date. This doesn’t mean anything has gone wrong though – as Oculus founder and inventor Palmer Luckey stated at a recent SXSW panel, everything’s gone “horribly right” thus far.

“I did say that before we made a lot of changes to our roadmap and we’ve expanded a lot of the ambition we had around the product and what we wanted to do. Us partnering with Facebook allowed us a lot of things that we wouldn’t have been able to do otherwise like hire 300 people to be working on getting the Rift out as quickly as possible at the level we want it.

“I can’t comment on the date one way or another in either direction but I can say that nothing is going horribly wrong. Everything is going horribly right.”

As for whether there was more pressure thanks to competition, Luckey said there “couldn’t possibly be more pressure anyway. I do still think that it will be [the best VR headset at any price]. That could change because that means that there’s something even better out there, but I think that’s unlikely right now.”

What are your thoughts on Rift especially given all the alternatives that have come up? Let us know below.

Microsoft Games Studios head says it's all about the competition.

Microsoft and Sony may be in as tight competition now as they’ve been ten years ago but there’s still a mutual admiration on both sides for the other. That being said, Microsoft Games Studios corporate VP Phil Spencer recently pointed out the “unhealthy dislike” (aka fanboyism) that some particular fans feel for the competition while speaking to Geoff Keighley at SXSW.

“There seems to be this natural faction that gets created around what console you own, and then this…I would call it ‘unhealthy dislike’ for people who own the other console.”

“The competition is in the marketplace. I have ton of respect for people at Sony and the franchises they build. The same with Nintendo, or my friends at Valve…In the end what we all wanna do is to take this art form of playing games and experiencing the breaking down of the wall between the narrative and interaction […] and just make a better form of entertainment.

“I love the fans that we have , but being a fan of Xbox doesn’t mean you can’t be a fan of something else, or that you have to be an anti-fan of some other brand. I own a PlayStation 4. I play Games on my PlayStation 4. I own and I play games on my Wii U. I learn a ton from what happens on those other platforms.”

All the competition is a good thing for both the companies as well as for gamers in general though – even after eight years or more, the success of consoles is as apparent now as ever. “Has anyone shown up to the party when these two big manufacturers brought their consoles out in November?

“And today we all see that hasn’t been a problem. If you look at what both consoles have done, it’s been an amazing year, probably the best year.”

What are your thoughts? Let us know below.
