It only took, uh, five years after its original announcement, but Syberia 3 is now finally out. It was announced in 2012 for a 2014 release, got delayed into 2016, slipped into 2017, and actually managed to keep its release date this time (it actually ended up launching a day earlier than it was scheduled to, so you can argue that it failed to stick to it even this one last time).

And now that it’s out, maybe you want help playing it. Maybe you don’t want to play it unless you’ve seen some substantial footage. Maybe you don’t want to play it at all, but you’d rather watch a playthrough of it online and be done with it. Whatever your reasons are, the end result is that you need a walkthrough. And that’s where we come in. Below is a video walkthrough of Syberia 3– you can watch it, it goes all the way through to the ending. Just remember, it will have spoilers- so if you’d rather not have the game spoiled for you, maybe don’t watch it?

The Snow Raider!

Thirteen years have passed since the last time adventure game fans stepped into the shoes of American lawyer Kate Walker. Not content to see the series fade into obscurity anymore, French developer Microïds has finally released its latest entry in the Syberia series. Despite being announced all the way back in 2009, Syberia III has had a troubled history of lack of funding and missing its projected release windows. Regardless, the devs persevered and the long awaited sequel has finally seen the light of day.

You are once again thrusted into the role of Kate Walker who has awoken in a sort of asylum, thanks to the Youkal tribe. However, everything isn’t as they seem as the medical staff seem fairly content on keeping you at bay. It’s up to Kate to help the Youkal tribe, a group of nomads who roam the lands with their giant “snow ostriches,” to get back on their journey and rescue their young guide from the clutches of the asylum. And those aren’t the only adversaries that she’ll have to evade.

"Despite the transition from pre-rendered graphics to full 3D, Syberia III’s art direction is able to capture the tone and essence of its forebearers fairly well."

To those who’ve played the first two Syberia games will be familiar with the presence of the Youkal tribe, as well as a few recurring characters and mention of the Automatons. A large portion of Syberia III’s initial story is in helping the tribe get back on its feet, but a lot of what was covered in the earlier games are sparingly brought up unless needed. Progression is fairly straightforward, and you’re usually clued in on where you need to go next along with the characters you need to acquaint yourself with.

Despite the transition from pre-rendered graphics to full 3D, Syberia III’s art direction is able to capture the tone and essence of its forebearers fairly well. Some of the textures when inspected closely still look outdated, but overall, it’s an admirable show for a title that utilizes the Unity 3D engine. And the somber tone is only further amplified thanks to the game’s soundtrack scored by Inon Zur who also worked on Syberia II.

However, the game is not without its blemishes, particularly in terms of how characters speak and animate. Bad voice-acting hampered by poor lip-synching abounds at nearly every turn. Even though Kate herself (voiced by Sharon Mann) is decently casted, there are numerous amounts of stilted dialogue and questionable age role choices. Given its French roots, it’s understandable why some dialogues may not sound completely coherent or have a star-studded cast to execute them well. But due to the large focus on conversations, much too often do the inadequate performances take you out of of the experience.

"Add to that some of the technical issues faced from the game’s camera (whether it’s moving from one fixed position to another), and Syberia III comes off as unpolished and a bit low-budget."

Another major change made to the series is the removal of the tried-and-tested, point-and-click movement of your character. Instead, you’re required to rotate and move Kate manually along with an option for her to sprint faster. What this also means is that your character must be physically close to an object for an interaction icon to appear. The game advises beforehand that using a gamepad is recommended and those who grew up playing the other games, or any old-school adventure game for that matter, are kind out of luck without one. When the game essentially doesn’t showcase points of interest, instead forcing you to move around the environment and discover them when close, thus prompting interaction, it only makes for more unenjoyable busy-work. Again, this is all made much more straightforward with a controller. It’s kind of sad that this has to be the case for what’s essentially an old-school adventure game. This being the case for a new Syberia game just doesn’t feel fun.

It’s a change that is all the more aggravating, when you realize how certain puzzles require you to interact with objects by moving and sliding your mouse cursor. It’s cumbersome and feels unnatural, especially when you never feel like you get a full-range of the kind of movement required in the first place. To clarify, I did attempt to use an Xbox One controller during some of the more infuriating puzzle interaction moments. And while it did alleviate some of that tension, you can’t help but feel there could have been a much simpler approach with more responsive controls.

Add to that some of the technical issues faced from the game’s camera (whether it’s moving from one fixed position to another), and Syberia III comes off as unpolished and a bit low-budget. If you get past the uneven voice acting, there’s a world that could be worth your attention if you’re looking for a more relaxed and solemn tale to draw you in. Considering the development hell that it’s gone through, Syberia III could have come out far, far worse. That’s not to say what we have is good but it’s admirable that it came out this way.

"Syberia III feels like a major roadblock in the series than an actual step forward. If it simply continued the narrative from its predecessor in a meaningful way, that would have been enough."

As such, Syberia III feels like a major roadblock in the series than an actual step forward. If it simply continued the narrative from its predecessor in a meaningful way, that would have been enough. If it was a compelling story on its own backed by strong writing and voice acting, that would have also warranted some good-will. Syberia III in its current state is a flawed game that will make you appreciate the production values in contemporary adventure games all the more.

Syberia III is an adventure game with a fascinating world, but really needed a few more months in the oven and is difficult to recommend. If you’ve never experienced the earlier games, you’re probably better off starting there.

Syberia 3 is almost out- later this week in Europe, and a week from today in the US. The game has been a long time coming, having originally been announced in 2012 with a 2014 release date, slipping into 2016, and then being delayed into 2017 again. Many may have thought the game would never come- but we’re on the cusp of its release.

Syberia 3 is the first full 3D game in the series, marking a shift away from its propensity for pre-rendered backgrounds, which should hopefully lead to a more interactive environment. The trailer shows us some of the gameplay, as well as the story, that we can expect from this game.

Syberia 3 will be launching on Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC- make sure to check out the trailer. Is this game something you would be interested in picking up? Let us know if it is, as well as what you think of the trailer, in the comments section, and stay tuned to GamingBolt for more coverage and information.

The long wait for Syberia 3 is almost over. While there has been talk and rumors about when the third game in the series was going to be released, the company has finally gone ahead and announced the release date.

There is a time when people thought the game was going to be coming in 2016 but developer Microids had to delay it until the first quarter of 2017. Now the team has officially come through, announcing the game is going to be coming in April. Syberia 3 will release on April 20 in Europe and five days later in the United States.

In order to celebrate the impending release, just a few months from now, the team has released some new screenshots as well as a new trailer. You can check out all the media below.

Everything you need to know about Syberia 3.

Syberia 3 is an upcoming adventure game that is being developed and published by Microids. As the name suggests, this is actually the third in what has become a long running series with Syberia 2 having released all the way back in 2004. This game had been talked about being in development for over six years, but has only recently started really getting going on putting the finishing touches on this game.

Originally announced back in 2010, the game has had several release date pushbacks. The game has also added a number of platforms, as Syberia 3 will follow in the footsteps of Syberia and Syberia 2 in being not only on the PC and consoles but also on mobile platforms. While the game does not have an official release date, it is expected to land sometime in the first quarter of 2017.

On 1 April 2009, the series’ developer and publisher, Microids announced that Syberia 3 was officially in development and the game was being looked at as a June 2010 release on the PC and the PS3. The development team said they wanted to release this game as a as a real-time 3D adventure. Shortly after the announcement that the project was real, the company said it was going to have to push back the 2010 release date because negotiations with the writer behind the first two games in the series, Benoît Sokal were hitting a few difficulties. Later in April of 2010, the company announced they were going full steam ahead with a PC version but that problems with Sony were making a PS3 version unlikely. Microids took the unusual step of asking its fans to email Sony in order to convince the larger company there was enough demand for Syberia 3 to force the game to that platform.

During an interview in February 2011, Benoît Sokal announced that work on the game had not even begun because the studio didn’t have the kind of money he had claimed he needed. Sokal said he wanted to make Syberia 3 look like Assassin’s Creed games but the budget would be very large for that undertaking. Sokal also said the game would need a brand new engine because using the same one the first two titles used would lead to failure in the commercial sector.

On November 26 of 2012, Microids announced on their social media accounts that official development on Syberia 3 had started. In the summer of the following year, on 21 August 2013, the company announced that the game had taken the next step forward and gone into production. On August 13, 2014, a year later the game’s first screenshots were released and the title was said to be available in 2015 for the PC, Mac, PS4, Xbox One, iOS and Android platforms. Eventually, announcements of the game being pushed back were announced for 2016 and eventually the game was said to be coming in 2017. On October 5, 2016 the company announced what they were calling the final release date pushback and said they expected the game to be ready for launch in the first part of 2017.

There isn’t a great deal of information known about the specific story of Syberia 3, but there are a few details that have been announced. It appears the protagonist of the entire Syberia series, known as Kate Walker will be moving deeper into the lands of Syberia. Along the way, she is going to be meeting two new characters in Ayawaska and Simon Steiner. Ayawaska is a kind of leader of an indigenous tribe and she and Kate will befriend one another as Kate travels with the tribe.

The developer has said the mechanics will be very similar to what people have seen in the first two games in this series. The adventure game relies on puzzle solving and point-and-click adventuring more than it does combat.

Characters

The main protagonist of Syberia 3 is the same one who has been the main protagonist of the other two games in this long running series. Kate is an American lawyer who has grown bored with her work a day world. She has traveled to the lands in Russia which are known as Syberia several times, but each time she goes, she finds new areas and new adventures. The developers have not given a great deal of information on many of the characters will make up this game, but they have divulged two new characters.

Ayawaska is one of the new characters in this third installment of the Syberia series. This character is somewhat enigmatic and stands just 1.10 meter-tall. Her character is said to be one that is constantly laughing and smiling and she acts as the shaman of the Youkol tribe. That tribe is the one the series’ protagonist, Kate Walker, had left at the end of Syberia 2. During this third game, Ayawaska will offer Kate to accompany her in the snow ostrich’s transhumance, a real sacred mission for her tribe. Throughout the adventure game, this shaman will provide precious advice to Kate, though Kate is going to have to solve some puzzles in order to truly understand what the advise she has been given really means.

Another brand new character introduced in Syberia 3 is Simon Steiner. Steiner is a genius craftsman who owns the small clock-maker’s shop in Valsembor, the city close to where the Youkol camp settled. Steiner has a rather grumpy and suspicious look, but the 70 year-old man is very kind towards the tribe that have set up camp next to his town. In this regard, he is one of the few people in the town that feels anything other than a desire for Ayawaska and her tribe to move on. Kate will have to gain his trust so that he agrees to build an essential element for her. This element will be needed by Kate later in the game in order to continue her journey with the Youkol tribe.

Note: This wiki will be updated once we have more information about the game

Kate Walker's return has been postponed.

Microïds’ Syberia 3 was slated to release on December 1st for Xbox One, PS4 and PC but it’s now been delayed.

According to Microïds VP Elliot Grassiano, the adventure title will be out in Q1 2017 to allow for more polish. “After the unprecedented excitement we have seen for this game…we decided to bring even more depth to Kate Walker’s new adventure.

“We are aware that fans around the world are eager to embody Kate Walker again but we need additional time to provide them with an adventure that can live up to their expectations in this fascinating universe created by Benoit Sokal.”

However, there will be a lot more added. As per Sokal, there will be new voice-over languages, optional narrative sequences, additional cinematics and so on. “I am obviously disappointed that Syberia 3 is delayed because we would like to release our games as soon as the storyline is written, but I’m also relieved that Microids has taken the decision to postpone the game’s launch because it is essential to offer players the best gaming experience possible.”

Syberia 3 has a final release date at ling last- fans have been waiting for this game for seven years now, ever since 2009, but it looks like that long wait is almost over. Syberia 3 will be releasing on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC later this year, on December 1.

The game promises to be surreal and affecting, much like the previous games in the series, as heroine Kate Walker has a new adventure which promises to put her more in touch with her realer side. You can get a better idea of what the game will be like from the video below, which is a bit of a tease, but hey, take what you can get- that plus the images above should give you some idea of what the game looks like, at any rate.

Syberia 3 will be available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC on December 1- let us know if you intend to get it in the comments section below.
