Regarding November, four new titles debuted in the top 20 – God of War Ragnarok in second place, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet in third, Sonic Frontiers in fourth and Tactics Ogre: Reborn in 17th. The other major movers were Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, which went from 39th to ninth place (perhaps due to the PC version’s release).

Mario Party Superstars rose from 47th to tenth place, while Animal Crossing: New Horizons went from 28th to 12th place. Nintendo doesn’t provide digital sales, so both titles likely performed even better than their rankings imply. Check out the top 20 best-selling video games in the US based on dollar sales below.

Now, more new details on the game have leaked. PS Deals is a site that tracks the PlayStation Store’s database and any updates made to it, and it recently put up updated PS5 and PS4 pages for Tactics Ogre: Reborn that reveal details on the remaster and its improvements, mentions its release date, and also reveals screenshots to offer a glimpse of what the remaster will look like. As per these leaked details, Tactics Orge: Reborn will feature “improved graphics and sound, as well as updated game design.” That will include revamped enemy AI in combat, a unit-by-unit level system replacing the class-wide level management system used in the original, completely overhauled controls and UI, quicker battles, auto saves, and more.

The remaster will apparently feature “painstakingly recreated” HD versions of characters and backgrounds from the original game. All music in the game has also been re-recorded with live performances, while all cutscenes will now also include full voice overs for both English and Japanese.

According to these leaked details, Tactics Ogre: Reborn will launch for PS5 and PS4 on November 11, and will allow free cross-gen upgrades. Whether or not the remaster is also planned for other platforms remains to be seen. It should also be interesting to see when Square Enix decides to officially announce this. If it is indeed coming in November, then an announcement shouldn’t be too far away.

The cover art also appears to hark back to that of 1995’s Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together. This could mean that Reborn is a remaster, if not a re-imagining of the same. The tactical role-playing game was originally released for the Super Famicom in Japan and would be ported to the Sega Saturn in 1996 and PlayStation One in 1997.

The latter version was released in North America in 1998 while a remake arrived in 2010 for PlayStation Portable. Acclaimed as one of the best games in the genre, Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together took a more realistic approach to its conflict while also utilizing a turn-based, Chess-like combat system. Square Enix recently filed a trademark for “Tactics Ogre: Reborn” in Japan. It’s been over a decade since the last Tactics Ogre game came out, which was 2010’s PSP title Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together– which, of course, was itself a remake of the 1995 original.

Square Enix has been more than willing to dive into its past catalog and pick out opportunities for games that can be brought back into the limelight, from re-releases and remasters such as the Mana games to more ambitious revivals like the upcoming LIVE A LIVE remake.

Whether Tactics Ogre: Reborn will end up being a remake of an older release or a completely new entry in the franchise remains to be seen. Of course, this isn’t a game that hasn’t been officially announced yet, and right now, there’s no guarantees that it will be, so series fans should keep their expectations in check for now.

At the same time, keep your fingers crossed. A new Tactics Orge game would be hard to say no to.

Square Enix has released a new trailer of their upcoming PSP game, Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together.

Let Us Cling Together was originally released in 1995, and was met with critical acclaim. The game is getting a re-release on the PSP this year.

Don’t expect much change in the gameplay though. The game will now allow 30 troops on screen, as opposed to 20 in the SNES version, and we will have new features and several new classes for the skill system, but otherwise, the core gameplay will remain largely unchanged. Obviously, we hope Square tweaks to meet the requirements of current generation gamers… or maybe an old school strategy game would be perfect… let’s wait and watch. According to designer Matsuno, the game will have new story angles, character developments (who knows, maybe even new characters) and new side stories.

Director Hiroshi Minagawa, designer Yasumi Matsuno, character designers Akihiro Yoshida and Tsubasa Masao, and Hitoshi Sakimoto and Iwata Masaji of the music department will be joinging the team to remake the game they made fifteen years back.

No release date has yet been announced, and Square hasn’t confirmed if Wheel of Fate will be getting a western release. The original SNES version never got released outside of Japan, so we sure hope this one DOES get released. PLEASE, SQUARE, WE WANT SOMETHING GOOD TO PLAY ON OUR PSPs!!!
