Will be free with a purchase of Fallout 4.

Nuka Cola, the fictitious cola drink from the Fallout universe, was already sold once at Target in the leadup to the launch of Fallout 4. Today, Target confirmed that the drink will be returning to Target stores again this week, and will be available for free upon purchase of Fallout 4,or its season pass.

The real life Nuka Cola is neither radioactive nor addictive like the game version of the drink is; you can also not use its bottlecaps as currency, well, anywhere. It is, in fact, a repackaging of a specific flavor of Jones Soda Co. You can buy an individual bottle, assuming you don’t buy the game or its season pass, for $2.99.

So go on and get one of these- even if it’s just a rebranding of an existing soda, the packaging on the bottle alone will make it worth quite a bit more to collectors down the line.

Target recently listed the console at $349.99.

After Sony announced a price cut for the PlayStation 4 in Japan following its pre-Tokyo Game Show conference, it seems that the United States may be next in line.

According to a listing on retailer Target, the PS4 is poised to be priced at $349.99 which makes for a roughly $50 cut. It’s not much of a surprise really. Sony has been selling PS4 consoles hand over fist since it launched in 2013 and managed to turn a fairly decent profit on each unit sold. There’s also the fact that the Xbox One has been $349 in price for a while now and has been gaining significant momentum since then.

Could the price cut be announced at the Paris Game Show later this month where Sony has a significant presence? We’ll find out in the coming weeks but in the meantime, let us know what you think of the new price in the comments below.

What are some solutions for bringing Xbox 360 games to the Xbox One? Find out here.

Microsoft’s lead for planning on the Xbox One Albert Penello recently talked about how using the Cloud for backwards compatibility to allow for streaming Xbox 360 games on the Xbox One would be difficult. A confirmed Xbox One dev discussed the problem and suggested different solutions for the same. Of course, he also highlights the issues that each of these methods presents.

“This really is quite a difficult problem to solve. I can give a little insight of two ways I know of to implement backward compatibility for current gen and past gen gaming consoles (PS1, PS2, PS3, Xbox, Xbox 360).

“The first method involves building server farms of gaming consoles. For Microsoft, this would mean linking up racks and racks of Xbox 360s. Whenever a user requests a game, content would be generated by a console, then streamed. The bulk of the cost of this approach would be the cost of obtaining and setting up these consoles. In addition, maintenance cost of infrastructure that streams content via the internet needs to be accounted for. The upside is we already have all the hardware we need, the PS3 and 360 are released products.

“A second method would be emulation. The benefit of this is scalability. Several instances of a console could be emulated per server. This is possible and already achieved for older generation consoles such as PS1, PS2, and the original Xbox. A complete and working PS3 or Xbox 360 emulator is more or less impossible given the current state of technology. The overall consensus on when we would have the processing power to emulate a Cell processor or the 360’s PowerPC triple core processor is about ten years.

“The second approach will most likely be used for older generation games and the first method as a viable solution for PS3 and Xbox 360 games. However, even if these methods are technologically feasible, there are still many issues to solve. An obvious one is latency. There exists several sources of latency, the speed at which content can be generated (quality of infrastructure), the speed at which content can be received (your internet speed), as well as lag due to controller inputs, TVs, etc….

“Assume we are able to reduce latency to the point where games are playable and users can see no visible lag, how many clients can we serve concurrently? Assume again that for one user to stream a game, one console is required and is locked for the duration of gameplay. How many consoles would we need such that every user at any given time who requests a game session will have an available console. 10,000? 100,000? A million? Would users have to wait in line to play a game? I would think these are the harder questions to answer.

“It really would be interesting to see Gaikai’s solution to these issues. In my opinion, showing one or two instances of lag free remote streaming gameplay is great but not really worthy of mentioning.”

He also advised against picking up an Xbox One from Target, which is reportedly shipping the consoles early. “I would advise no one to buy this. 1) Could be a scam. 2) He blotted out S/N but the barcode is still there. I’ve already saved and scanned it. 3) This console will be banned soon, if it was stolen or from the Beta.” Considering the controversy that’s followed, that might be for the best.

What are your thoughts on the same? Let us know below.

May be the next Call of Duty. Maybe centered on Ghost. Maybe, maybe, maybe.

UK retailer Tesco had apparently put up listings for Call of Duty: Ghosts on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. This is in line with an earlier Target ad which advertised the game for Wii U (also picture below).

This coincides with rumours that the next Call of Duty game – to be developed by Infinity Ward and/or Sledgehammer Games – will be centered on the side character Ghost from Modern Warfare 2. Rumours suggest that the game will be a prequel and focus on Ghost’s past life. Heck, for all we know, it could be a sequel of some sort focusing on another Ghost.

Because Activision gonna Activision.

Take this all with a grain of salt – it wouldn’t be the first time listings are found online that turn out to be completely false (then again, remember all those PS3 Slim listings? Ouch). But regardless, come May, more information will become available. So stay tuned for more details.

Despite backers receiving their consoles early, retail launch will follow shortly after.

Android console OUYA, fully funded by Kickstarter, will be launching in several US retail stores this June. This includes the big name players like Target, Best Buy and GameStop, and comes about three months after backers of the campaign receive their consoles in March.

Pre-orders are currently on and the OUYA will be sold at $99.99 with one touchpad controller; additional controllers will cost $49.99 each.

Speaking the Wall Street Journal, CEO Julie Uhrman stated that, “We want to support Ouya as best we can, both online and in physical retail, making sure there’s visibility for the product, to see content and demo the box.

“Those are all conversations we’re having with retailers. Retail partners of this size don’t just jump into business with every company that has something to sell. We’re providing something that has responded so well to gamers and developers.”

Uhrman didn’t say much about how many developers were on board but promised “inventive and creative [content] that has never been on the television. This announcement…is that we now have more than just dreamers behind us, we have established companies that do their due diligence that believe there’s an opportunity for bringing great content back to the television.”
