Ganondorf, Ness and more return?

<img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-193717" src="https://gamingbolt.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/smash-bros-select-screen-leak.jpg" alt="Super Smash Bros.
Super Smash Bros. recently received a wealth of new information courtesy of the latest Nintendo Direct, which included new characters, modes, online functionality and much more. A new leaked Japanese character screen has however emerged and indicates even more characters that may appear in the game. Take it with a grain of salt, as usual.

Some of the new characters from returning games include Ness (Earthbound), Captain Falcon (F-Zero) and Ganondorf (The Legend of Zelda). The new characters this time around include Rosetta (Super Mario Galaxy), Charizard (Pokemon), Wii Fit Trainer (Wii Fit), Captain Olimar (Pikmin) and many more.

Super Smash Bros. is expected to release on 3DS in Q3 2014 while the Wii U version will be out in Q4 2014. Will you be picking it up and can it help turn the tide for the struggling Wii U? We’ll find out in the coming few months. Let us know what you think of the legitimacy of the character select screen in the meantime.

Nintendo will specify "an approximate release window" though.

Nintendo has been rather tight-lipped about the upcoming Super Smash Bros. title for the Wii U and 3DS. We know about some of the newer characters as well as areas and the like, but how the game will play, its final name and the different modes are yet to be revealed.

Nintendo is aiming to rectify that at an upcoming Nintendo Direct presentation for the same. As posted on Twitter, “Finally tomorrow starting at 7 AM we’ll broadcast the Smash Bros. Direct. Despite the early morning we heard many people that are looking forward to the livestream. Thank you!”

There was some hope that a release date would be part of the information shared but it seems to be wishful thinking. “We’re not in the condition to announce a specific release date yet, but in the broadcast tomorrow we’ll inform you of an approximate release window.”

Hopefully it will be some time in the next few months. What are your thoughts? Let us know below in the comments.

Nintendo dropped a whole ton of information for the next Mario Kart 8 and it seems that Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS are soon to arrive as well. Nintendo has revealed that it will be hosting an edition of Nintendo Direct solely for the fighting game on April 8th.

Timings for the broadcast are 3 PM PST, 6 PM EST, 12 AM BST April 9th and 8 AM AEST April 9th. This will perhaps be the first major details about the game since its initial unveil at last year’s E3. Perhaps a definitive release date for the year, along with some new gameplay features and modes showcased? One can always hope.

As of now, we know that The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword will be featured in Super Smash Bros. What other surprises await us? Stay tuned for this Tuesday to find out and let us know your thoughts on the game in the comments below.

More details for Super Smash Bros. on the Wii U and 3DS are beginning to arrive, and according to director Masahiro Sakurai, players will no longer be able to edge-camp.

In previous games, edge-camping allowed players to latch on to the edge of the stage and hang off of it in order to avoid the main battle. Of course, the first one to get to the edge couldn’t be knocked off, but in the new Super Smash Bros., they’ll no longer be safe.

Posting on MiiVerse, Sakurai shared the above picture and spoke about two other changes to be included, such as, “Air time and accumulated damage will determine your period of invincibility while hanging on an edge” and “Grab controls will no longer be affected by whether you have above or below 100% damage.”

We welcome these changes but what are your thoughts on the above as well as on the death of edge-camping? Let us know in the comments below.

Platforming makes a return to Smash Bros.

Earlier today Nintendo director Masahiro Sakurai posted an all new screenshot of the upcoming Super Smash Brothers game, which will be released on the Wii U and 3DS, on MiiVerse. Based on the image it can be assumed that it is promoting the game’s single player campaign mode, as there is only one player shown (Mario) and he appears to be in a level that is somewhat platformer-esque. These levels are typically a “special level” included in the Super Smash Bros. campaign.

There have also been rumors that the Subspace Emissary from Super Smash Brothers Brawl will be making a return despite an announcement from Nintendo that it would not be included in the upcoming game. However this screenshot is eerily similar to the Subspace Emissary layout.

Either way, this teaser is just yet another in a line of exciting reveals that make us ever more exciting for the game’s eventual release.

What do you think? Is the image of the campaign mode, or is the Brawl Subspace Emissary making a sneaky return to Super Smash Bros?

And a new Kirby game releases in Japan.

Yet another character was revealed to be joining the lineup for the upcoming Super Smash Bros. game, set to release across both the Wii U and the Nintendo 3DS. The character you ask? The mallet wielding King Dedede from the beloved Kirby series. This news comes courtesy of Miiverse from game designer Masahiro Sakurai. The notice read:

“Pic of the day. Celebrating the launch of Kirby: Triple Deluxe in Japan, King Dedede joins the battle! Check out his evocative facial expressions on the official web site.”

As you can see, the news here is twofold. One that Kirby: Triple Deluxe has released in Japan, great news as there has been a serious lack of Kirby games of late – although a 3DS Kirby title is being released soon -and two, King Dedede is now an official part of the roster.

What are your thoughts on King Dedede’s inclusion in Super Smash. Do you think there was a better Kirby character they could have picked?

Super Smash Bros. Wii U was revealed at a special Nintendo Direct presentation at E3 2013, and would also be heading to the Nintendo 3DS on release, utilizing a special cel-shading process for the latter’s visuals. The game will feature a few new characters, which include the Wii Fit Trainer (male and female), Mega Man, Animal Crossing’s Villager and even the new Legendary Pokemon Xerneas. They’ll join Mario, Luigi, Samus, Link, Kirby and the usual returning cast for the brawl.

Super Smash Bros. Wii U is due to release in 2014, though a more solid release date is still to be announced. Stay tuned for more details on the same in the coming months.

Team Sora’s upcoming Super Smash Bros. is now one character stronger, as a new image released today has showcased Fire Emblem’s Marth in the game. Part of the series since the beginning, Marth is perhaps the most iconic character in the Fire Emblem series and even made his return in Fire Emblem: Awakening on the Nintendo 3DS, which released earlier this year.

Of course, this doesn’t mean that Marth is technically a playable character. Nintendo has teased Pokemon X & Y legendary Xerneas as being part of the game but with no confirmation on whether you’d be able to play as it. Hopefully, this isn’t the case with Marth who has been a playable character in previous games.

Super Smash Bros. releases in 2014 for the 3DS and Wii U. Other new characters this time around include Mega Man, the Wii Fit Trainer (both female and male) and Animal Crossing’s protagonist. Stay tuned for more in the coming months.
