Namco Bandai today announced Tekken 3D is now available in North America.

Tekken 3D Prime Edition takes the hard-hitting and explosive fighting engine from the TEKKEN arcade and console games, and gives players the fiercest fights to ever land on a portable gaming system. Fight against a continuous stream of opponents with minimal health regeneration between rounds in Special Survival, beat up A.I. brawlers in Quick Battle, or show your supremacy against others either locally or Wi-Fi through Versus Battle. Choose from a huge roster of TEKKEN characters including Young Heihachi’s first appearance on a home console system.

Namco Bandai have announced Tekken 3D Prime Edition is releasing in North America on February 14, 2012 for the portable Nintendo 3DS system.

TEKKEN 3D PRIME EDITION will make the most of the Wi-Fi functionality of the Nintendo 3DS, delivering fast-paced dynamic battles with impressive graphics at 60fps. And with the Nintendo 3DS system’s StreetPass™ feature, nearby players can exchange collectable TEKKEN cards even when their systems are asleep.

“Tekken has a rich 16 year legacy, with the franchise first appearing on the Nintendo platforms in 2001 with Tekken Advance for Gameboy Advance,” says Carlson Choi, Vice President of Marketing, Namco Bandai. “With the unique abilities of the Nintendo 3DS, we’re able to show the characters of the epic franchise in a way that has never been seen before, and fans are going to love how Tekken’s return to Nintendo systems has taken the series to new levels.”

Tekken 3D: Prime Edition Looks Like The Greatest Handheld Game Ever

Bandai Namco games seem to have outdone themselves. Their upcoming Tekken game for the Nintendo 3DS looks like the best looking game on the system, period, as well as one of the best looking handheld games across any system (and that includes the PS Vita). Just take a look at the trailer below:

The graphics looks almost on par with Tekken 6, and that is an Xbox 360/PS3 game, and by some technical wizardry, they have been confirmed to be running at 60FPS even in 3D mode. Moreover, the game itself looks to be jam packed with content, as the game cartridge will also include a 3D copy of the upcoming 3D Tekken movie.

No release date for Tekken 3D Prime Edition has been announced yet. However, we’ll keep you posted as we learn more.
