No concrete plans but interest has been expressed according to producer Katsuhiro Harada.

Tekken Revolution may be heading to the Xbox One, according to producer Katsuhiro Harada who stated to Eurogamer at the Tokyo Game Show about how there was in interest in the same, although there are no concrete plans.

“The circumstances have changed a bit. It seems they’ve opened up to that model since Xbox One, and after we released the PlayStation Network beta they were kind of nervous and expressed an interest. We don’t have concrete plans, but there’s a possibility that we’ll do it in the future.”

As for Tekken X Street Fighter, which apparently still exists, Harada stated, “We do have assets created and some of the materials. It’s just that we’re looking at the circumstances and what direction people are going in, what platform as there’s a change in the market. I’m thinking long term about that.”

Tekken Revolution is essentially a free to play version of the fighting series, which ships with 8 characters and allows you to purchase additional characters separately. It is currently available on PlayStation Network. Would it make a good fit for Xbox One? Let us know below.

Meant to appeal to those who have never tried Tekken or are returning after a long time.

We already know that Namco Bandai is taking their sweet time with Tekken X Street Fighter, but at least the company has been putting out some strong Tekken entries, like the recently released Tekken Revolution.

Speaking to Siliconera, producer Katsuhiro Harada talks about how the game was meant to like an RPG, and that it won’t necessarily be the direction going forward for the series.

“To start off, it’s not all Tekkens are going to be like this. This was just a challenge we wanted to try to take on for [Tekken Revolution]. It’s what we expected when we were designing it. Tekken Revolution is geared towards people who have never tried Tekken before or people who are returning after a long time playing.

“We wanted to show players, kind of like a RPG, that the time you put into the character is reflected into that character so you become attached to them. For fighting games, the only thing that builds up is your skill as a player. However, when someone better than you fights against you that means nothing during that bout. We wanted to adapt the game so the time they put into the game is reflected as their character becomes stronger.”

Tekken Revolution is currently available for the PlayStation 3 as a free to play title.

Producer Katsura Harada feels that it increases the chances of people checking out the games.

As the first free to play title in the Tekken franchise, Tekken Revolution released on June 11th in North America for the PlayStation 3 on the PlayStation Store. Series director Katsura Harada recently spoke to SegmentNext about the purpose of the game and how it will appeal to new players as well as the hardcore.

“This title was particularly really designed to lower the barrier of entry for new players but also to have enough new things to appeal to hardcore players as well.”

He also stated that it’s “different” rather than being scary to release this kind of title. “You’re not getting a certain amount of money coming in on packages. But rather than that, we have the 20th anniversary of Tekken, so we feel a lot of possibilities. These types of games lower the barrier for entry so there’s the chance of a lot more people actually checking out games.”

Harada’s love for the Battlefield series also came up, as he talked about how, “As a player I would play the free-to-play version and, so, OK, if they come out with Battlefield 4 as a package version, would I not buy it? I mostly likely would because I love the game.”
