Fans of Ifrit and squatting mini-games, rejoice.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake had a huge presence at the Tokyo Game Show. We got to see the full, uncut version of its E3 2019 gameplay demo, while Square Enix also showed off a new trailer. Beyond that, producer Yoshinori Kitase also took to the stage to show off a bunch of new gameplay footage, showcasing summons, another boss fight, mini-games, and more.

We’d actually seen glimpses of the squatting mini-game previously, in the aforementioned new trailer, so the thing that immediately grabs attention is the boss fight, which shows Cloud, Tifa, and Aerith taking on the Aps beneath Don Corneo’s mansion. We get to see new abilities for all three, and incidentally, this was also where the Classic combat mode was unveiled by Kitase.

Most notably, we got to see Summons in action, with Cloud summoning Ifrit to aid him in battle. Each character, Kitase explains, can carry a Summon Materia on their weapon, and the Summons Gauge builds up as you attack enemies. When Summons appear, you fight alongside them on the battlefield, and you can also make them do certain skills and attacks using the ATB bar. Summons stick around until the Summon Gauge depletes. Interestingly, it also looks like the ability to make Summons will be restricted to boss fights and other tougher encounters. Take a look at the whole thing below.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake is out on March 3rd, 2020 for PlayStation 4.

Sucker Punch won't be showing anything new from the upcoming open world title.

Sony’s got big plans for the upcoming Tokyo Game Show as far as Death Stranding is concerned, but when it comes to some of their other major upcoming first party releases, you shouldn’t hold your breath for any new premieres, big or small.

Sucker Punch’s upcoming open world action-adventure title Ghost of Tsushima is among the games Sony says it will be bringing with it to TGS 2019- but don’t expect to see any new trailers or gameplay. According to Andrew Goldfarb – Community Manager at Sucker Punch – on Twitter, Sucker Punch has nothing new to show just yet, and Sony will most likely just be showing trailers for the game that we’ve already seen.

Thanks to some recent job ads by Sucker Punch, we know that development on Ghost of Tsushima is moving full steam ahead, but there have been no new official updates on the game since its gameplay reveal at E3 2018, which was more than a year ago at this point. Either way, some reports have suggested that the game will be out in the first half of 2020, so keep your fingers crossed for news of some sort in the coming months. We’ll keep you updated if we hear anything, so stay tuned.

Tokyo Game Show is approaching, and companies are starting to lay out some big plans for the event. Capcom has got a new Resident Evil game and some special Switch stuff in store for us, while Bandai Namco also recently shared their schedule for the week. Now, Sony have also announced their plans.

The star of the show is obviously going to be Death Stranding. Hideo Kojima said at Gamescom that he’d be showing new gameplay from the title at TGS, and Sony now confirms that that will be the case. They’ll be setting up a special theatre where they will show new gameplay footage- and hopefully, it’ll show more than urinating people, crying babies, and Geoff Keighley. But we’ll take what we get, I guess.

Meanwhile, Sony’s booth will also feature Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, and Nioh 2, as was announced not too long ago. Sony will also be hosting and livestreaming stage shows called “PlayStation Presents Live Show TGS 2019”, which will show gameplay footage for a number of games.

We’ll be covering TGS extensively, so stay tuned to GamingBolt for all the latest updates.

More ports and remasters incoming?

Capcom clearly has big plans for Tokyo Game Show next month. They’re preparing to announce a completely new Resident Evil game, which it seems is going to be a co-op multiplayer-focused title (at least based on leaked images), but that’s not the only thing they’ve got lined up to announce at the show.

As per Capcom’s confirmed TGS schedule, on September 15 from 14:05 to 15:00 (local time), Capcom will be hosting a panel for something they’re calling “Capcom Adult Masterpiece Series”, following by an interview regarding the same from 15:00 to 15:10. And it looks like this is a focused effort on Capcom’s part to bring more mature titles to the Switch from (presumably) its back catalog- at least based on the information that can be gleaned from their Nintendo Switch library page.

Capcom’s support for the Switch has been pretty lacklustre. By sheer numbers, that might not be the case, but those numbers include Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate – an old-school Monster Hunter title that launched post-World – and a bunch of ports or HD remasters for older games.

As for what announcements this panel could hold, that’s anyone’s best guess. The Switch recently got an HD port of Devil May Cry, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see similar releases for other games in the series. Perhaps Dead Rising could be coming to Nintendo’s platform. Either way, we’ll find out soon enough, so stay tuned for more updates.

An Outbreak sequel, perhaps?

Capcom have been asking their Resident Evil ambassadors to test out a new game in the series in both Japan and in the US, and recently, they teased that game, currently being called Project Resistance. That game is going to be officially unveiled in September, and will also be playable at the Tokyo Game show shortly after its announcement.

Before that announcement though, it seems some information can be gleaned about what sort of project we’re looking at, thanks to a bunch of leaked images via a a YouTube thumbnail preview site for the game’s announcement trailer (via Reddit). Those who’re expecting an announcement for either Resident Evil 8 or Resident Evil 3 Remake will probably be disappointed. The images, which you can check out below, show four separate characters- and it looks like it might be some sort of a four player multiplayer experience. Perhaps a Resident Evil Outbreak sequel? It’s possible.

Either way, we’ll find out soon enough, so stay tuned to GamingBolt, and we’ll keep you updated on any and all new info that comes our way.
