GTA 5, Pacific Drive, and Still Wakes the Deep Announced for PS Plus Extra/Premium in November

With PS5 game streaming finally out of beta for PlayStation Portal, it’s a good time for Sony to reveal its latest wave of titles coming to the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog. Starting on November 18th, Extra and Premium subscribers can experience Grand Theft Auto 5, which returns to the service for the third year in a row.

It might not completely take the sting away from GTA 6’s delay, but it remains one of the best games ever made. Of course, for those who can’t experience it on PS5, the PS4 version is also available. Other notable titles this month include rogue-like driving title Pacific Drive (which recently got an expansion) and first-person narrative horror Still Wakes the Deep, both playable on PS5.

Multiplayer fans who enjoyed Battlefield 6 might want to check out Insurgency: Sandstorm, which offers another modern setting with realistic gunplay on PS4 and PS5. If you’re keen on something more light-hearted, there’s the British comedy title Thank Goodness You’re Here! Another underrated addition, at least for puzzle gamers, is The Talos Principle 2 (with the original receiving a remaster earlier this year).

Monster Jam Showdown and MotoGP 25 offer solid racing, while Premium subscribers get access to Tomb Raider: Anniversary on PS5 and PS4.

The golden age of Metroidvanias continues to deliver modern classics, and Animal Well has surely joined that list. With no combat whatsoever and a striking pixel art aesthetic, it allows itself to stand out in a crowded genre, while its finely crafted and dense world, which remains a constant joy to explore from start to finish, is also a highlight. For fans of Metroidvanias, this one is unmissable.

You settle comfortably into the status quo, you’re activating your open world towers, you’re looking at the rarities of the loot in your inventory, you’re cracking packs and progressing through battle passes- and then this game comes along out of nowhere that just refuses to play by the rules. It gleefully tears up the precious status quo and revels in its weirdness- and it might be a little rough around the edges, but you can’t quite take your eye off it. 2024 had a surprising number of such games, and here, we’re going to talk about a few of them.

SLITTERHEAD

There’s an abundance of horror games out there in our current market, but few of them (or more precisely, none of them) are anything like Slitterhead. Coming from Silent Hill, Siren, and Gravity Rush creator Keiichiro Toyama’s new indie team at Bokeh Game Studio, Slitterhead is undoubtedly a flawed game, and probably not to everyone’s tastes. It does tout a fascinating core premise and body swapping gameplay hook, however, which makes for one of the most unique action horror experiences in recent memory. Yes, there are a dozen different ways it could have been a better game, but even in its current state, Slitterhead has an undeniable (if very specific) appeal to it.

All of it comes together in one of the richest and most engaging Metroidvanias we’ve played in recent years.
