The Blast Furnace worked hard to bring forth a quality experience, according to lead designer John Dennis.

Yesterday, Activision released Call of Duty: Strike Team for iOS, which featured a mesh of third person shooting, first person shooting and a top-down perspective that reminded us of the FOB missions from Black Ops 2. However, lead designer John Dennis assures us that it’s not a “lazy port”. “It’s not some sort of lazy port, you know – ‘here’s some stuff we found lying around and we made a mobile game of it.’ This has been a very hard-working team working for a long time to try and deliver a quality experience.”

He revealed to Kotaku that Strike Team has been in the development for a year by The Blast Furnace, which is led by former Rockstar London member Mark Washbrook. “Quite a lot of the guys in the studio worked at Rockstar, and in that environment everything you work on is top secret. There’s an absolute code of combat that you do not speak about your title outside of the office.

“The thing of value to us is that this is a thing you pour all of your time, your love and your and energy into, and you don’t want to see that go out prematurely.”

Have you tried Strike Steam yet? Do you immediately regret it? Let us know below.

Quick question: What do Tomb Raider, Prince of Persia, and oh, every single platforming game in existence have in common? They all started from one simple pixellated figure, debuting 30 years ago on the Atari 2600, named Pitfall Harry.

Now Activision is celebrating Pitfall’s legacy, with a Pitfall! app now available on the Apple App store. Pitfall! will be playable on the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. A straight translation would’ve been great, but developer The Blast Furnace decided to shove some new environment and gameplay tweaks into the experience

Chief creative officer of Activision Mobile Gordon Hall stated. “This new incarnation delivers a best-in-class experience of the game for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. The team has kept the elements that made the original so much fun to play, and merged them with a cool, retro HD art style, updated controls and play mechanics to keep both old-school fans and newcomers happy.”

An Android version is also in development by The Blast Furnace.
