Du’Met is the one who invited the crew and is seemingly behind the various traps and killing rooms that they must endure. Along with making decisions that could decide the fate of the cast, the title introduces new mechanics like a character inventory, movement options like running and jumping, and more. As with previous titles, you can play online with a friend or offline with five players, passing the controller around to make decisions.

The Devil in Me isn’t the last we’ve seen of The Dark Pictures Anthology. The Dark Pictures: Switchback VR is coming to PlayStation VR2 in Spring 2023, while The Dark Pictures Anthology: Directive 8020 was recently confirmed and kicks off Season 2. Set in the Cetus Constellation in space, it begins with a voiceover by Commander Stafford of the Cassiopeia, a forward reconnaissance vessel. Though it suffered minor hull damage, the ship rendezvoused with something called the Charybdis marker and is on the way to Tau Ceti f (a “super-Earth” that orbits the Tau Ceti star). However, it’s not long before things take a dark twist as one Thomas Carter reports that another crew member, Simms, is trying to kill him.

The announcement isn’t too out of left field, as Supermassive trademarked Directive 8020 in Europe, in addition to four other new titles. An official announcement has yet to be made by the developer, so stay tuned for further. Various other details are revealed, such as the fact that Du’Met is a recluse obsessed with Holmes, possessing documents and artifacts on him. As part of a crew of documentary filmmakers, players must survive the various ordeals of the mansion. The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil in Me is the finale for Season 1 of Supermassive’s narrative horror series. It focuses on a documentary crew invited to a replica of serial killer H.H. Holmes’ “Murder Castle.” Soon enough, they’re trapped in various life-or-death scenarios, from solving puzzles to potentially sacrificing each other.

Along with expanded movement, The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil in Me also implements an inventory system. Much like previous titles in the series, it can be played solo, online and offline with up to five players. There’s also a Curator’s Cut for witnessing different scenes and making new decisions, available to all who pre-order.

According to the user, the anthology’s “season finale” is out on November 30th. They’re fairly reliable, regularly tracking the Xbox Store backend, and have revealed release dates for Skull and Bones and FIFA 23. Neither the publisher nor developer have confirmed the same so we’ll need to wait for more details.

The Devil in Me is the finale for the current “season” of The Dark Pictures Anthology. It sees a documentary film crew venturing into a replica of the “Murder Castle,” with the original created by serial killer H.H. Holmes. While the invitation came from an unknown person, it’s too good for the crew to pass up. As you would probably guess, things go wrong.

In addition to making choices and deciding each character’s fate, there are new features like a character inventory, more movement options like running, jumping and climbing, and “tool-based” puzzles. You’ll need to survive some twisted “killing rooms” to outwit the mastermind, which can be done solo, online with a friend or offline with up to five players.

Along with the Standard Edition, there’s The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil in Me Animatronic Collector’s Edition. It features a physical copy of the game, an 11-centimeter animatronic bust, postcard and envelope, hotel map, business card, collector’s box and the pre-order bonus. This version is exclusive to the Bandai Namco Store.

If that weren’t enough a bundle for The Dark Pictures Anthology has also been confirmed. This will include, The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes and The Devil in Me along with exclusive playing cards for House of Ashes, two collectable pins, the hotel map, and the previously mentioned pre-order bonus. Taking recently to Twitter, Supermassive announced that The Dark Pictures: The Devil in Me will star Oscar-nominated actress Jessie Buckley – best known for The Lost Daughter (among other things) – as Kate Wilder. What role exactly Kate Wilder will play in the game and what that character’s central arc is going to be- well, we’ll just have to wait for those details now.

The Devil in Me is being billed as the last instalment in the first season of The Dark Pictures Anthology, though there’s no word on when exactly it will launch. Recently, the names and logos of the next five games in the series were also revealed thanks to trademark filings- read more on that through here.

Instead of leaning into the supernatural, The Devil in Me is more grounded. It sees a crew of documentary filmmarkers venturing to a replica of H.H. Holmes’ infamous “murder castle” after receiving a strange invitation. Holmes was the first serial killer that America ever witnessed and soon, someone begins hounding the crew. They’re forced to partake in gruesome challenges to survive while being monitored by a “twisted host.”

Like previous entries in the series, you’ll make decisions to influence the fate of the main cast. Whether a few live to see the light of day or everyone dies is ultimately up to players. A release date and platforms have yet to be announced but this is set to be “the anthology’s most bloodcurdling story yet.” Stay tuned for more details in the coming months.

The Devil in Me will be the fourth entry in The Dark Pictures Anthology, as a trademark filing gave away back in July. The story seems to be focused on a twisted serial killer, with several scenes showing the many people he’s killed in a number of horrific ways. There’s also a creepy, rotting animatronic corpse in there. Interestingly enough, the teaser also claims that The Devil in Me will be the final entry in the first season of The Dark Pictures. There’s no telling exactly how many seasons are planned, but Supermassive Games has previously said that it has plans for as many as eight games in the anthology series. Whether the developer will be taking a bit of a break after season one ends and take a little longer to come out with the next entry remains to be seen.
