If you ask an Elder Scrolls fan what the best game in the storied RPG franchise is, they will almost always tell you that it is Morrowind. The legendary RPG released in 2003 for PC and Xbox, crafting a go-anywhere, do-anything open world with wondrous vistas, nuanced RPG mechanics, and atmosphere and world building such as never have been repeated in the franchise since.

Oblivion and Skyrim would go on to simplify and streamline a lot of what Morrowind did, which in turn led to their wider success—but in its approach to open world building, Morrowind remains unmatched, except for perhaps by Breath of the Wild.

And now, you can play it on your Xbox One- a listing for the game has gone up on the Xbox Store (along with one for Destroy All Humans), with a release date for today—presumably, these two games will be the Xbox backward compatible games that will be revealed during today’s episode of Inside Xbox.

Given that Morrowind is one of the greatest games ever made, and a gem of the Xbox library, it will certainly be a fantastic addition to the Xbox One’s catalog.
