Microsoft continues on its crusade to make as many Xbox 360 games playable on the Xbox One as is possible (though to be fair, it’s a feature that has been very successful for them). A new batch of Xbox 360 games has been made playable on their new console via backward compatibility, Microsoft exec Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb announced on his Twitter account today.

Well, I say a new batch, but it’s really only two games. Both of these games are relatively “smaller” in terms of appeal and popularity, but they do have a lot of dedicated fans that I am sure will be happy with their being added to the backward compatibility program.

The games in question are The King of Fighters XIII and Orcs Must Die!. They’re both available on the program starting today, digitally as well as via their disc versions. Fighting game aficionados will probably be really happy with The King of Fighters, especially if it gets the kind of enhancements and boosts that Xbox 360 games usually do when they are running on the Xbox One.

Atlus today released new information regarding the upcoming online patch for The King of Fighters XIII Patch Incoming, PS3 DLC To Get Delayed, the latest entry in the legendary fighting franchise, for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

According to Atlus and developer SNK, the patch will seek to make the game’s network infrastructure more consistent for users, ensuring that the evaluation given connections is more accurate to the actual play experience. Moreover, the patch will introduce ranked host-side filtering, eliminating the frustration of match hosts unable to avoid matches with players with poor connections. In addition to a number of other improvements, the update will also address a number of rare glitches reported since the game’s release. No release date currently exists for the update, but Atlus reports that the developer is making every effort to release the patch as soon as possible.

Atlus also today revealed that the North American PlayStation Network release of NESTS Kyo has been delayed.

“We apologize to our PlayStation 3 system KOF XIII fans for the slight delay of the next downloadable character,” stated Aram Jabbari, Manager of PR and Sales at ATLUS. “In gratitude to our fans for their patience, we will be discounting the NESTS Kyo character to $2.99 for a limited time when it is finally released in the North American PlayStation Store on 1/10.”

Atlus and Snk Playmore today announced the availability of a demo for The King Of Fighters XIII for the PS3 and Xbox 360.

Also today, Atlus and developer Snk Playmore confirmed that work is already underway on a patch that will further improve the game’s online functionality. Details regarding the update’s content and release timing are not yet available, but additional information will be released as soon as possible.

The King Of Fighters XIII is out now in North America for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 systems.

Atlus also today again confirmed that the first DLC character, Iori with the Power of Flames, would be available on 12/7 via Xbox LIVE Marketplace and PlayStation Store for 400 MS points and $4.99, respectively.  The purchase includes not only the character, but his stage and background music as well.

Atlus has released a new video for their upcoming fighter, The King of Fighters XIII. The gameplay looks pretty good, from what can be seen. What I like the most, though, is the cartoony style. Not that I haven’t seen a lot of games with the same style recently, but still… it’s looking pretty good.
