Hello Games’ The Last Campfire received a little over four and a half minutes of new gameplay during Inside Xbox with lead designer Steven Burgess talking about the design and setting. The story-telling was also aptly on display with soothing narration over protagonist Ember exploring the environment. Check it out below.

Ember is lost, essentially, and must find their way home. This means exploring ruins, meeting and helping different characters, and solving puzzles. Ember’s purpose seems to be lighting the “last campfire” and despite the charming aesthetic, Burgess notes that there is an underlying darkness in the tone.

The Last Campfire releases this Summer and will be coming to PS4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch. Stay tuned for more details in the coming months. In the meantime, Hello Games continues to update its space exploration title No Man’s Sky with an Exo Mech recently being added. For more information and details on the same, check out the patch notes here.

Help a lost ember find its way home in this new adventure title.

No Man’s Sky developer Hello Games appeared during Nintendo’s Indie World Showcase to showcase The Last Campfire. It’s coming to Nintendo Switch in Summer 2020 and offers an altogether different tone than the studio’s previous games. Check out the first trailer below.

The story follows a lost ember who’s looking for a way home. Along the way, it will solve puzzles, help out various characters, explore strange ruins and encounter all kinds of mysteries. The premise is centered on lighting the “last campfire,” with environmental story-telling used in place of overt dialogue. All in all, this is looking like a solid puzzle adventure game with a beautiful art-style.

The Last Campfire will also be coming to PC via Steam this Summer along with PS4 and Xbox One. Considering Hello Games’ reputation for No Man’s Sky and the acclaim it’s received over recent years, it should be interesting to see the response to its newest title. Stay tuned for more news and developments from the recent Indie World Showcase in the meantime.
