Kuro no Kiseki launched in 2021 and even received a sequel, Kuro no Kiseki 2 -CRIMSON SiN-, last year. When can Western fans expect to play it in English? PushSquare interviewed Falcom president Toshihiro Kondo about plans for the same.

“We have been hard at work to get these projects started. There is nothing to announce quite yet, but we hope to be able to provide some news as soon as possible.” It could mean an announcement later this year or a reveal for next year’s Falcom Anniversary. Time will ultimately tell.

Falcom is also working on Ys 10: Nordics, a sequel in the acclaimed action RPG franchise set between Ys 1 and 2 and sees Adol travelling to Obelia Bay. It’s out on September 28th for PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch in Japan, but no Western release date has been confirmed.

And it seems another name may be officially joining that list very soon. The Legend of Heroes: Kuru no Kiseki 2 – CRIMSON SiN- launched in Japan for PS5 and PS4 in September, but it seems like Falcom is preparing to bringing that line of games to more platforms and markets. As spotted by Gematsu, the game has been rated for PC by South Korea’s Game Rating and Administration Committee (GRAC).

What’s interesting, of course, that its predecessor, The Legend of Heroes: Kuru no Kiseki, hasn’t yet launched anywhere outside of Japan, and that itself will only arrive once the aforementioned Trails into Reverie has been localized. The timeline of these releases outside of Japan should be interesting to follow- but this certification might indicate that official announcements might follow in the near future.

The timing precedes the launch of The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero next week on PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC in North America and Europe. In Japan, The Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki 2 -CRIMSON SiN- launches on September 29th for PS4 and PS5. An English localization for the original game has yet to be announced, which means the sequel could be even farther away.

Thankfully, Western fans will have The Legend of Heroes: Trails to Azure, Trails into Reverie, and Boundless Trails: The Legend of Nayuta next year. All three games will be available for PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC. In the meantime, check out our review for Trails from Zero here.

Five minutes of gameplay has also been uploaded by Dengeki Online from a recent livestream for the game. Though there’s no sound, it does showcase quite a few new things. Renne’s attacks, along with her S-Craft, can be seen along with different mini-games like hacking and fishing. There’s also an area called Marchen Garten with different floors and branching paths that players can take.

Along with new areas to explore like Messeldam, Capital Edith, Trion Mall and Centrumarche, story progression is changing a bit. As per DeepL’s translation, “Van and his collaborators are divided into different parts of the story.” It notes that two chapters can appear in the “same chronological order, and you can choose whichever you like.” This seems to indicate a branching route of sorts.

Special missions are also available that involve sneaking around. You can’t go to other chapters while on a special mission. There’s sadly no sound but it overall looks even more fluid than its predecessor. The ability to switch between Action and Command-based modes returns with the former offering the ability to dodge, attack and move around in real-time. Stunning enemies allows for an Advantage Attack and unleashing an EX-Ceed Chain, which is a team-up attack that deals more damage.

Van’s S-Craft is also seemingly shown and involves pummeling an enemy with hand-to-hand combat before finishing them with his Stun-Calibur. The Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki 2 -CRIMSON SiN- is set to release this Fall for PS4 and PS5. Stay tuned for more details and gameplay in the meantime.

Van, who’s enjoying a relatively lazy day, is visited by A-rank Bracer Elaine Auclair. As the latest screenshots showcase, Agnes Claudel also returns and is still seeking the remainder of her great-grandfather’s legacy. Other characters include two mysterious youths; Renne Bright, at least judging from her scythe; and “Bloody” Shirley Orlando, an Ouroboros Enforcer that was last seen in The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie. Perhaps she has some connection to the “crimson beast”?

There’s also the classic fishing mini-game, which now includes directional controls, and the ability to use Arts during Action Mode in combat. The Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki 2 – CRIMSON SiN – is out this Fall for Japan on PS4 and PS5. Meanwhile in the West, The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero is slated to release on September 27th for PS4, PC and Nintendo Switch.

The story sees an incident occurring in Edith City involving the brutal massacre of the CID’s special operations squad. While the Bracer Guild and Calvard officials investigate, protagonist Van Arkride also looks into the matter, determining the culprit and their motives. Agnes’ involvement is also unknown though it seems that both are embarking down a dark path.

How long it will take to localize the title remains to be seen especially since The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Reverie, the Western release of last year’s Hajimari no Kiseki, is due in 2023 for PS4, PC and Nintendo Switch. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.
