On top of The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak 2 launching next month, it’s also releasing Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter worldwide this Fall. Ys vs. Trails in the Sky: Alternative Saga, a port of its crossover fighter, and Ys 10: Proud Nordics, an enhanced version of Ys 10: Nordics, are also inbound.

However, additional titles are in development for the Trails and Ys franchises, codenamed Title H and Title in Falcom’s latest financial report. Release dates for either have yet to be determined. If that wasn’t enough, an unannounced PS5 port is in the works.

Of course, the studio also has a new Tokyo Xanadu project in development, which could be revealed this year. Stay tuned for more updates, and in the meantime, check out details on Trails through Daybreak 2. It’s out on February 14th for PS4, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch.

However, the series has achieved a new milestone, selling over 7.5 million copies. Its last milestone was in September 2022, with over seven million copies sold.

Clouded Leopard Entertainment revealed the sales figures in a recent press release, which announced that Kai no Kiseki would be published with Traditional Chinese and Korean text this year. It seemingly indicates a Steam release like in the past with Hajimari no Kiseki, Kuro no Kiseki and Kuro no Kiseki 2 -CRIMSON SiN-.

Upcoming releases include The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel 3 and Cold Steel 4 on PS5, launching on February 16th with all cosmetic DLC and high-definition visuals. While Ys 10: Nordics is the focus for 2023, the next entry in the Trails series is confirmed to launch by September 2024, per the company’s recent financial report.

There are currently no details on what it could entail, though it may be the third and final title in the Calvard arc. The second game, The Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki 2 -CRIMSON SiN- was released last year for PS4 and PS5 in Japan before launching on Steam earlier this year for Asia. Expect more information in the coming year.

As for the West, Falcom and NIS America are bringing the first Kuro no Kiseki, known as The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak, to PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch and PC in Summer 2024. The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel 3 and 4 are also launching for PS5 on February 16th, 2024.

It last reported more than five million sales for the franchise in September 2020.

The timing precedes the launch of The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero next week on PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC in North America and Europe. In Japan, The Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki 2 -CRIMSON SiN- launches on September 29th for PS4 and PS5. An English localization for the original game has yet to be announced, which means the sequel could be even farther away.

Thankfully, Western fans will have The Legend of Heroes: Trails to Azure, Trails into Reverie, and Boundless Trails: The Legend of Nayuta next year. All three games will be available for PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC. In the meantime, check out our review for Trails from Zero here.
