MMORPG developer Turbine, best known for The Lords of the Rings Online, has revealed that an unknown number of positions have been removed at the studio.

Speaking to Massively, a studio representative stated that, “As part of our normal business process, we’re routinely looking at the strategic alignment of our company. Unfortunately, in order for us to invest in growth areas at Turbine, we have to eliminate some positions. These are always tough decisions, which we don’t approach lightly, but it’s crucial that Turbine is structured in a way that reflects the current and coming marketplace.”

This doesn’t say much about the future of the company or The Lord of the Rings Online which is experiencing some fairly decent success in the free to play market. Warner Bros. Interactive announced a brand new expansion for Lord of the Rings Online. Adventurers will be heading to Helm’s Deep later this fall.

Here are a couple of details regarding the new expansions:

Once players reach level 10, they will be able to enlist with the Rohirrim to defend Helm’s Deep against Saruman’s army during the Battle of the Hornburg. Battle of the Hornburg is also known as the Battle for Helm’s Deep. Players will also be venturing into the plains of Rohan. Plains of Rohan are where adventurers will be on a lookout for new Riders to recruit for battle.

The level cap in this new expansion will be moving up from 85 to 95.
